Nick Fury had no time to explain himself. He hurriedly shouted at Tony, "Go stop them from doing any more damage to the Helicarrier! We only have two engines left, and we're above New York!"
Only after Nick Fury shouted did Tony realize that the Helicarrier had been hovering over New York all along!
This was an international metropolis, packed with countless residents and tourists coming and going!
If the Helicarrier plunged straight down from over a thousand meters in the air...
The consequences were simply unimaginable!
"What the hell? Is this enormous Helicarrier just a vanity project? No backup engines? No emergency landing plan? No adequate safeguards? How did you even dare put it in the air?" Tony stared at Nick Fury in shock.
Nick Fury's expression darkened further.
The Helicarrier was a crucial part of Project Insight. At their current pace, the project's first phase would not be completed until around 2016 at the earliest. Even accelerating the schedule would only bring that forward by about two days.
In other words, the Helicarrier had been put into service six or seven years early.
Naturally, many of the contingency plans had yet to be fully worked out.
"JARVIS, roughly calculate what would happen if the Helicarrier went into free fall over the city below." After giving JARVIS his instructions, Tony hurriedly led his team toward another engine. At the very least, they had to keep the remaining engines from being destroyed.
Two massive engines were not enough to keep the Helicarrier operating normally.
But they were enough to support an emergency landing.
There would certainly still be damage, but far less of it.
Tony could lead his team to protect one engine, but who would protect the other?
"Krillin, Tien Shinhan, Rhodey, hurry to the coordinates I'm sending you
