Only when a team lifted him onto a stretcher did Strange realize that the Military seemed to have taken him away.

Although Strange enjoyed considerable status, he had never involved himself in politics, so his knowledge of S.H.I.E.L.D. was practically nonexistent.

Coupled with his natural wariness of the authorities, this made him want to put up a fierce struggle.

Unfortunately, his rigid body could not move at all. He even felt weak.

His body seemed to be absorbing nutrients to fuel its growth.

His original body no longer seemed capable of meeting his needs for survival.

When his entire body was secured with bandages and he was lifted into something resembling an ambulance, Strange looked at the agents around him and felt his mind begin to go blank.

He did not know whether it was because S.H.I.E.L.D. had injected him with a sedative or because his body had begun digesting.

Soft music drifted around his ears, and Strange slowly opened his eyes.

Gentle light fell across his body.

Strange gave a self-mocking smile. "I thought I'd already been sliced up for study."

"Dr. Stephen Strange, why would you think that?" Coulson approached Strange with a smile.

Strange had no interest in playing mind games with these government people. He asked bluntly, "When can you let me leave?"

"If you want to leave, you can go whenever you like," Coulson replied.

Strange's heart tightened, and he hurried to get out of bed and leave.

"Huh?" He discovered that he could not exert any strength at all. Getting out of bed and leaving on his own was impossible.

He smiled wryly. "Looks like I won't be leaving just yet!"

Strange felt that something was very wrong with him. He could clearly sense his hands and feet, yet he could not stand up.
