Tony nodded, puzzled. "Of course I know. That mysterious fellow, The Doctor, said something similar."
That statement was actually a very accurate description of the Weeping Angel statues.
To understand it, one could not simply take it at face value. Only by digging deeper into its meaning could one grasp just how terrifying the Weeping Angels were as a species!
"Did I do something wrong?" Tony asked cautiously. "Did I overlook something?"
"The meaning of that statement is actually quite clear."
Jiang Xiang's gaze grew cold, with what seemed like a trace of apprehension hidden within it.
"Anything that has held the image of a Weeping Angel will become a Weeping Angel."
"The word 'anything' is particularly clever, because its scope is simply far too broad."
"Living beings count. Inanimate objects count. Glass that can reflect an image counts, and surveillance cameras certainly count. Of course, pictures count too..."
"Phew..." Jiang Xiang calmly picked up a cup of tea. "Tony, all you can do now is pray."
Tony looked at Jiang Xiang as though he had found a lifeline.
"Pray for what? Is there still some way we can deal with the Weeping Angel?"
Jiang Xiang continued, "There isn't. By praying, I mean praying that the Weeping Angel doesn't possess its full strength, or that this particular Weeping Angel is newly born and doesn't have such powerful transformative abilities."
"Otherwise..." Jiang Xiang said quietly, "New York may find itself with hundreds or thousands more Weeping Angels. Of course, you don't need to worry too much. Their population generally tops out at around three thousand, and not every Weeping Angel can spawn a full complement of Weeping Angel statues."
Jiang Xiang's words of comfort did nothing to soothe Tony's wounded soul.
