Countless blue-black monsters swarmed down the slopes on either side of the railway.
Their nails gouged deep white marks into the carriage walls. Blue-black veins throbbed beneath their skin, and saliva dripped from their gaping mouths.
"How can there be so many?" He trembled, clutching his toolbox. "The books said fewer than a hundred Kabaneri remained!"

"Don't panic." Erwin steadied the stumbling female attendant. "There are isolation doors between the carriages. Move everyone in the last two carriages up front first."
"We can't!" She shook her head, crying. "The conductor said those two carriages contain important supplies..."
"Are supplies more important than lives?" Levi watched the Kabaneri pounding against the windows, his guard up.
