Both sides suffered devastating losses in the large-scale firefight.
In an abandoned stairwell, Jonas watched as both sides fighting nearby began to show signs of retreat. He knew perfectly well that his chance to enter the fray had come.
Esnie saw his expression and understood what he meant. She took the initiative to ask:
"Do you need me to step in now?"
"No, wait a little longer."
Jonas looked toward a pavilion not far from where the two sides were fighting:
"Let the Titanium Crystal Gang go in first."
"That Mr. Smuel doesn't seem like a suitable ally."
Eiffel couldn't help frowning at those words. In truth, he had been making excuses to avoid intervening directly in the melee. Considering their earlier actions as well, the Titanium Crystal Gang had been rather cautious, hardly the sort of ally they could entrust with an important task.
Smuel's attitude also left Eiffel seriously worried that he might betray them at any moment.
"Are you sure he'll follow your plan?"
But Jonas merely waved a hand and said:
"Smuel isn't trustworthy, but he's a smart man..."
As his words fell, the roar of cannon fire came from the distant battlefield, shaking dust loose from the old building.
Eiffel instinctively looked toward the sound, only to see that a third force had somehow inserted itself into the middle of the battlefield where the two sides had been facing off.
And with that, the situation descended into utter chaos.
The young woman stared, dumbfounded. Then Jonas patted her shoulder, looked toward the others, and said with a smile:
"Well then, it's time for us to make our entrance."
