| First Appearance | Chapter 1 1 |
Background / History
Jonas transmigrates into a cyberpunk game, occupying the body of a corporate villain. In the original storyline, his powerful female subordinates become major threats: the Brain-Melding Witch leaks corporate secrets, while the Black Valkyrie eventually supports the protagonist and helps kill the original Jonas. His initial objective is to prevent those betrayals and survive 1.
His inherited identity is the son of Carl, the deceased former head of the Wetting Conglomerate. Carl left behind capable employees, including Eiffel Margarita, but the original Jonas squandered their loyalty. Knowing that Eiffel meets tragic endings despite her devotion to the corporation, the transmigrated Jonas condemns his predecessor’s treatment of her 5 9.
Although wealthy and influential, Jonas has not yet secured a board seat. His limited institutional authority initially restricts the forces he can mobilize, while existing directors later try to undermine him through burdensome contracts and an unfinished weapons project 6 23 36.
Appearance
- Black hair: Repeatedly described as a black-haired young man 3 8 17.
- Youthful appearance: Other characters regard him as a very young conglomerate heir 5 27.
- Slender fingers: Noted when he fastens Esnie’s collar 4.
- Clothing: Appears in white gloves during his confrontation with Ian Strala and a black shirt when receiving Yucas Amili 11 28.
Personality
Jonas is calculating, distrustful, and intensely concerned with survival. He conceals his objectives, encourages opponents to underestimate him, and treats personal vulnerabilities as leverage. His preferred imagery is that of a hunter: weaken the prey, hide the real intention, and remain cautious until the threat is completely eliminated 9 17 21.
His ruthlessness extends beyond physical violence. He deliberately cultivates dependence in Iris, humiliates Esnie to establish submission, and leaves Sueko alive to turn her guilt and survival into weapons against Destiny. The narration also acknowledges that uncertainty about his methods can lead him to inflict excessive suffering 4 18 26 39.
His care is nevertheless not entirely performative. He arranges Celine’s treatment, rewards useful employees, appreciates Eiffel’s quiet concern, and feels guilty about his emotional influence over Iris. These gestures coexist with his efforts to control others rather than canceling them out 4 20 23 33 36.
Abilities & Skills
Game Foreknowledge
Jonas’s principal advantage is his memory of the game’s characters, routes, resources, and future conflicts 3 21 42.
- Identifies concealed vulnerabilities, including Celine’s illness and importance to Esnie 3.
- Recognizes Iris’s hacking potential and Yucas’s future combat achievements before others appreciate them 13 28.
- Anticipates the research-chip theft involving the Wild Wolf Gang, Madfire Gang, Levi Conglomerate, and Nathen Conglomerate 42.
- Limit: His interventions change events, and developments do not always match his expectations. Preventing Esnie’s first meeting with the protagonist immediately creates uncertainty about the Alt District conflict 4 21.
Tactical Planning
Jonas favors prepared traps over direct contests of strength 6 7 13.
- Reverses the Alt branch assault with a prepared explosion and captures its gang leader 7.
- Builds linked traps around Ian’s betrayal and Sueko’s attempts to access restricted information 12 13.
- Uses Iris’s counterattack to expose hostile hackers before deploying forces against their hideouts 18 19.
- Accepts damage to his own branch building when it serves his larger objective of deterring and delaying Destiny 27.
Psychological Manipulation
Jonas combines surveillance, intimidation, reassurance, and selective rewards to influence behavior 4 18 26.
- Uses Esnie’s collar to monitor her physical condition and emotional state 4 41.
- Gives Iris comfort and recognition while deliberately making renewed isolation less tolerable to her 17 18.
- Exploits Sueko’s survivor guilt and predicts that her return will provoke suspicion within Destiny 26.
- Admits that his harsh interrogation methods aim to break resistance as quickly as possible 50.
Negotiation and Political Leverage
Jonas seeks advantageous bargaining positions before offering cooperation 16 29 50.
- Uses evidence of illegal trafficking to pressure Sirka into cutting ties with Destiny 16.
- Reads Yucas’s subtle reaction to identify the Moslika dispute as her real negotiating objective 29.
- Turns Sirka’s delayed payment into an opportunity to obtain ten latest-generation tactical suits 43.
- Prefers negotiating with Chelsea once he holds Shiyu captive rather than escalating into open war 50.
Leadership and Resource Management
- Personally enters the Alt District crisis to establish competence before skeptical subordinates 5 6.
- Places Iris in charge of a firewall counterattack and prevents staff from dismissing her abilities 18.
- Recognizes the board’s hostile intent behind its compensation contracts and plans to absorb the offered resources anyway 23.
- Intends to exploit achievements available to the original protagonist to advance the Weiton weapons project; completion is not established in the supplied chapters 36 38.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Esnie’s silver collar — Fastened by Jonas as part of her loyalty agreement. Reports heartbeat, body temperature, and mental state; later reveals her happiness during their seaside outing 4 41.
- Protective drone — Projects a pale-blue shield that blocks Sueko’s gunfire and uses precise shooting to prevent her from taking another weapon 26.
- Office security system — Includes hovering cannons and concealed miniature machine guns covering potential escape positions 3.
- Nathen II Tactical Chip — Stolen research chip that greatly improves tactical-suit computing performance. Cannot be mass-produced and is described as one of District 25’s most advanced technological achievements 45.
- Ten Bond tactical suits — Latest-generation finished suits obtained from Sirka as research references; Sirka believes their encryption will protect the underlying technology 43.
- Weiton Project data — Partially developed weapons data handed over by the board alongside a project intended to damage Jonas’s prospects 36.
Relationships
- Esnie Nora / Black Valkyrie — Mercenary subordinate whose loyalty he initially coerces through Celine’s medical needs. Their connection later develops romantic tension, while the collar remains a symbol and instrument of his control 3 4 33 40 41.
- Celine Nora — Esnie’s younger sister and the patient whose treatment underpins their agreement. Initially distrustful enough to threaten self-harm, she later shares a private secret with Jonas and grows warmer toward him 9 11.
- Eiffel Margarita — Steward inherited from Carl’s service. Initially doubts Jonas’s competence, then becomes his practical adviser and critic; her trust and affection grow despite her suspicion of his methods 5 7 23 36.
- Iris Chelsea / Brain-Melding Witch — Gifted hacker rescued and recruited by Jonas. Deeply attached to him, she secretly retains her control chip even after he believes it has been removed 17 18 20.
- Amau Sueko — Destiny operative who targets Jonas during the Alt District riot. He captures her, uses her as bait, and engineers her return as a survivor likely to divide her organization 8 26 27.
- Ian Strala — Destiny engineer coerced into betraying the rescue operation. Sueko kills him during the resulting disaster 12 26.
- Sirka Bond — Corporate heir pressured into abandoning Destiny ties and later maintained as a transactional partner seeking Jonas’s support for his succession ambitions 16 43.
- Yucas Amili — Peacekeeping Forces branch director whom Jonas recognizes as a future top-tier combatant. He seeks to bring her to his side through a secret three-month maid contract, which she initially refuses 28 29 30.
- Chelsea Claudi — Nathen Conglomerate rival. Jonas steals her corporation’s chip and captures her subordinate before opening negotiations from a stronger position 45 50.
- Shiyu Ryoko — Chelsea’s subordinate, also rendered Shigure Ryoko. Captured through Jonas’s deception and used as leverage against Chelsea 47 49 50.
- Carl — Deceased father of Jonas’s inherited identity and former conglomerate leader; entrusted Eiffel with guiding his son 5 9.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Securing the Black Valkyrie
Jonas’s first intervention is to summon Esnie before she can meet the original protagonist. He exposes Celine’s concealed illness, demands that Esnie wear a collar and pledge loyalty, and makes her demonstrate submission. Afterward, he discreetly transfers Celine to a conglomerate hospital, recognizing that obedience has not yet become genuine loyalty 1 3 4.
Alt District Riot and Hacker Counterattack
When the Alt District slips out of corporate control, Jonas takes twenty-five special operatives into the crisis. Discovering that the gangs possess Tayne tactical suits, he avoids a direct assault and prepares an ambush. Ston Latka’s attack becomes a trap; Jonas extracts the identity of his informant, executes him, and tracks “K” to Amau Sueko 5 6 7.
Continued attacks on the damaged firewall threaten Jonas’s finances and board ambitions. He brings Iris’s recruitment forward, disguising his interest in her behind a confrontation with Sirka. Iris then leads the counterattack, enabling raids that deter further hacking across the surrounding twenty-five districts 13 16 18 19.
Dismantling Destiny’s Rescue Operation
Jonas coerces Ian into guiding Destiny reinforcements into a trap, then deliberately allows Sueko to discover the betrayal through weakened surface security. The rescue ends with thirty-four deployed Destiny members dead, plus Ian, whom Sueko kills 12 13 26.
Rather than kill Sueko, Jonas has her treated and returned to a Destiny stronghold. Her survival and footage of her shooting Ian fuel internal accusations. Jonas compounds the crisis by sending information about leader Aungus Ian to the Federal Tax Bureau 26 27 33.
Board Opposition and the Yucas Negotiation
The board’s compensation offer conceals contracts the recovering Alt District cannot readily fulfill. Jonas chooses to exploit the resources rather than reject them, while also accepting the unfinished Weiton Project that the directors expect to ruin him 23 36.
Meanwhile, Yucas seeks his assistance with the Moslika machinery dispute. Jonas rejects support for his future board appointment as insufficient payment, demands seventy percent of trade profits, and then offers a secret three-month maid arrangement instead. She refuses the secrecy condition; he predicts that she will return 29 30.
Deepening Esnie’s Attachment
Jonas rewards Esnie’s role in limiting casualties and fulfills his promise to arrange a hospital reunion with Celine. After Celine’s questions leave Esnie uncertain about his intentions, he tells her that he wants more than mutual usefulness and takes her to the seaside. There, he reveals that her collar can report her emotions 33 39 40 41.
Research-Chip Theft and Nathen Confrontation
Foreseeing a gang operation that will transfer Nathen research to Levi, Jonas mobilizes a task force and places Esnie on standby. He obtains the Nathen II Tactical Chip and secures Bond tactical suits while preparing for retaliation from the affected corporations 42 43 45.
He subsequently traps and captures Shiyu Ryoko. Despite his hostile interrogation rhetoric, he tells Eiffel that open war is not his objective: with both stolen property and a captive subordinate, he finally has sufficient bargaining chips to negotiate with Chelsea 49 50.
