The instant those words left his mouth, Nora felt a jolt of horror.
Now she finally understood why he had said "we" instead of "you."

Nora forced a few words through clenched teeth. The suffocating pressure around her neck made her speech slurred, and her brain was gradually running out of oxygen. Her heart sank.

Jonas smiled and nodded, then swept his right hand out, knocking the dagger from Nora's hand.
Clearly, Miss Nora had a powerful will to survive. Even in this predicament, she had not stopped searching for an opening.
With her neurotoxin-coated dagger knocked away, her only possible means of fighting back was gone. Nora could not help feeling a little desperate, but she still stared fixedly at Jonas, as though she wanted to burn his face into her memory.
This turn of events surprised everyone present. Even Miss Esnie felt a lingering fright at how close she had come to failing to protect Jonas.
After all, the ability to vanish into the shadows and suddenly reappear was ideally suited to assassination. An attack that happened in an instant like that could easily succeed without advance preparation.
