"I see... then that was indeed an oversight on our part."
Although the woman in uniform offered an apology, her attitude did not change in the slightest.
She glanced at Esnie beside Jonas and said calmly:
"Of course, the damage you caused to the Arbitration Bureau is another matter entirely."
Carroll Sigrid, the uniformed woman before him, had already struck Jonas as difficult to deal with on their very first meeting.
Her personality was a perfect match for the Arbitration Bureau's usual approach: seemingly objective and fair, but actually overbearing and unreasonable.
Looking at the door cleaved open by the Thermal Sword and the security guard who had passed out from pain, Jonas rubbed his nose.
At least in light of that, her attitude was perfectly reasonable. They had struck first, after all. Given the Arbitration Bureau's usual methods, not arresting them immediately already showed considerable restraint.
"We'll compensate you for the damage, but that isn't what we need to discuss right now."
Jonas's tone was neither servile nor arrogant. He looked at the woman in uniform and said with a smile:
"If you don't mind, I think we could find somewhere to sit down and talk."
The woman in uniform scrutinized Jonas for a moment, seemingly considering whether he was worth her time.
After a moment, she nodded and said:
"As you wish."
Although the process had taken a few twists and turns, things had finally gotten back on track.
Because of their initial encounter, Carol did not have a particularly good impression of Jonas, so she held little hope for this proposed partnership.
In fact, Carol did not think Jonas could offer anything that interested her, much less change her opinion through a partnership.
Still, to be on the safe side, Carol agreed to hear him out.
