Wetting Conglomerate, top-floor office of the Alt Branch.
Eiffel rubbed her temples. For some reason, the girl's right eyelid kept twitching, as though something was about to happen.
She didn't believe in such superstitions, but the constant twitching was genuinely affecting her efficiency.
Setting down the document in her hands, Miss Eiffel decided to take a short break.
Under these circumstances, finishing her work while maintaining her efficiency was rather difficult.
I'll wait until Mr. Jonas comes back, then show him these processed documents.
With that thought, Eiffel rested her head on her desk and took a nap.
As an assistant, Miss Eiffel was nothing if not diligent.
But what was Jonas doing at that moment?
#Query Jonas's status#
Oh, Jonas was currently flirting with Miss Esnie by the sea.
Calling it flirting might not have been entirely fair. After all, this accident hadn't been part of Jonas's plans.
Whether the series of actions that followed could be considered "deliberate," however, was a matter of opinion.
Half an hour after the accident, Miss Esnie was still somewhat flustered.
Her flushed face and fierce expression made it hard to resist taking a bite out of her.
Perhaps no one would have imagined that the imposing [Black Valkyrie] would show such an adorable expression of embarrassed anger under these circumstances.
Although there had been a slight deviation along the way, things were undoubtedly developing along the course Jonas had envisioned.
Inside the black armored car, the ends of Esnie's hair were slightly damp, and her gaze occasionally flicked toward Jonas through the rearview mirror.
Whenever his gaze met hers, she immediately looked away, pretending to admire the scenery outside the window.

Noticing the girl's little gestures, Jonas couldn't help feeling amused.
He didn't let it show, though. He simply held the steering wheel, looking perfectly calm.
If I could see her conquest progress... would it be at seventy percent by now?
When the collar is no longer a shackle, will that "woof" still come so easily?
An entire month had passed since the attack on the Alt Branch.
No one had come looking for trouble during that time... the Destiny Organization seemed to have vanished completely.
Jonas knew perfectly well that Miss Amau Sueko was waiting for an opportunity.
But he didn't dwell on the matter.
He was more concerned about something else.
-The armed clash that was about to happen.
In the original storyline, the Peacekeeping Forces would suffer an unprecedented gang attack during this incident.
And it would become the biggest embarrassment in the Peacekeeping Forces' history.
Caught off guard, the Peacekeeping Forces, whose equipment was two generations behind, were driven back again and again by the gang members and suffered heavy losses. In the end, they even had to seek help from the conglomerates to preserve what little dignity they had left.
Although it had only happened in the area with the weakest defenses, it still exposed a fatal problem within the Peacekeeping Forces.
After this incident, the Peacekeeping Forces chose to take drastic measures, abandoning their partnership with the Wetting Conglomerate outright and turning to the Nathen Conglomerate for weapons cooperation instead.
The board had wanted to squeeze some money out of the Peacekeeping Forces, but both sides ended up losing, and the Wetting Conglomerate offended the Peacekeeping Forces in the process.
This was also why Jonas had contacted Yucas ahead of time.
Rather than let those useless board members squander every advantage, he might as well use those advantages to expand his own power.

Jonas lightly tapped his fingers on the desk as he considered the events that were about to unfold.
[An armed street clash between the Wild Wolf Gang and the Madfire Gang left six dead and fourteen seriously injured.]
Barring any surprises, this incident would happen today.
And this seemingly ordinary incident would someday cause an enormous uproar.
What Jonas needed to do was swoop in before it happened and snatch the prize.
An armed street clash between the Wild Wolf Gang and the Madfire Gang...
It sounded perfectly normal, just an ordinary conflict between gangs.
In reality, however, this incident also involved two major conglomerates every bit as powerful as the Wetting Conglomerate.
The Wild Wolf Gang was tasked with escorting the Nathen Conglomerate's latest-generation Research Chip. The Levi Conglomerate got wind of this from some unknown source and hired people to intercept the Wild Wolf Gang en route.
The group they hired was the Madfire Gang.
The outcome was unsurprising. The Madfire Gang seized the chip, then jacked up the price and sold it to the Levi Conglomerate for a hefty sum.
Having stolen the Research Chip, the Levi Conglomerate soon cracked it, causing enormous trouble for the Nathen Conglomerate.
Because of the chip's unique properties and the fact that it couldn't be replicated, the Nathen Conglomerate had no choice but to swallow its resentment and buy it back from the Levi Conglomerate at an even higher price.
The feud sparked by this incident surfaced again during the later incident involving the Peacekeeping Forces, gradually developing into a power struggle centered on the Peacekeeping Forces that involved nearly half the major conglomerates.
Of course, none of this had much to do with Jonas.
All he cared about was how to use his foreknowledge to maximize his gains from this incident.
Pulling himself out of his thoughts, Jonas called Eiffel and said:
"Prepare a Special Task Force for me... and notify Esnie to stand by in the Sterlt District."
"Of course, Mr. Jonas. But what are you planning to do...?" Eiffel sounded puzzled.
At Eiffel's question, Jonas paused, then gave a succinct answer:
"Murder and robbery."
