After exerting himself for a while, Jonas carried Iris to the sofa. Listening to her soft, faint breathing, he decided not to return to his office chair. Instead, he sat by her feet and continued reading the documents on his communicator.
Iris curled up in one corner of the sofa, her head resting lightly against the armrest. Her breathing was slow and easy, her hands lying relaxed on her legs. Her soft hair fell beside her cheeks, and a faint smile still lingered on her lips. Sunlight filtered through the curtains onto her face, bathing her in a warm glow. She radiated a quiet serenity, like a peacefully sleeping child.
Well, perhaps she was a child at heart anyway?
Her hair lay neatly over her shoulders, and even Iris's breathing carried an innocent sweetness. Even in her sleep, the corners of her lips remained slightly lifted.
Whatever she was dreaming of must be clearer than the blue sky. Though the skies in this era could hardly be called blue anymore...
Looking at Iris's delicate sleeping face, Jonas felt the urge to poke her cheeks, which still had a little baby fat. On second thought, though, it was better not to disturb her sleep.
