By then, the walls of the dormitory office were drenched in blood, and the smell of blood filled the room.

The monster had stopped halfway over. Ye Chu suspected that he had offered too little blood to interest it, so he gritted his teeth and slashed his palm twice more.

It pained him a little to add more blood to the thermos. He could have traded all that blood for plenty of poison.

Soon, he felt that familiar, icy presence approaching.

It had already been pitch-black outside the window, but Ye Chu distinctly sensed that it had grown even darker. The air gradually became damp and stifling, so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.

Ye Chu looked out the window. He had thought he was looking at the black night sky, only for "that patch of sky" to suddenly tremble. Curious, he approached the windowsill.

The darkness abruptly opened, revealing a murky yellow eyeball.

Ye Chu: "...!!"

He jerked back two steps. When he looked at the window again, a mass of murky yellow eyeballs had already covered it.

Though he had been prepared, the monster was still ugly enough to make Ye Chu sick. His stomach churned, and he bent over the trash can beside the desk and retched.

The monster: ...

Before Ye Chu could straighten up, pounding rang out at the dormitory building's entrance. A mass of tentacles extended from somewhere on the monster and slammed viciously against the door.

Thud-

Thud, thud-

Ye Chu thought he could also hear the monster's low, hoarse voice in his ears.

"Open the door-"

"You called me-"

"Open the door for me-"

His head aching, Ye Chu pointed at the monster and said, "No. I forbid you from coming in."

The pounding gradually stopped. The eyeballs stared fixedly at Ye Chu through the window, their pupils slowly narrowing into vertical slits.

[Wait... unless I'm seeing things, did Ye Chu just... give the boss an order?]

[My verdict: badass.]

[I suddenly feel like I misunderstood Ye Chu before.]

[Same here, person above...]

Ye Chu let out a relieved breath. Just as the rules had said, the dormitory supervisor had the final say inside the dormitory building.

Otherwise, with his current strength, there was absolutely no way he could beat this thing covered in yellow eyeballs.

The eyeballs were peering inside through the window, each looking in a different direction. Though they had no faces, Ye Chu could still see resentment in them.

Bang- The monster slammed a tentacle against the entrance, then turned to leave with its tentacles flailing like a sulking child.

After all the effort he had put into luring the monster over, he couldn't let it leave. Ye Chu reopened his wound and dripped blood into the thermos, muttering, "O great Creator, here I stand, devoutly..."

The murky yellow eyeballs reappeared outside the window, their resentment even deeper.

Another bang came from outside the entrance. This time, it wasn't a tentacle striking the door. It sounded as though the monster had kicked it hard to vent its anger.

Ye Chu: "..."

Afraid the monster would throw another childish tantrum and leave, Ye Chu cleared his throat. "All right, I permit you to come in."

Ye Chu held a sheet of paper covered in rules he thought might restrict the monster's abilities.

The flailing tentacles pushed the door open. Almost immediately, Ye Chu felt as though something had clamped around his throat, making it hard to breathe.

What an overwhelming presence...

Ye Chu ran upstairs, ducked into his room, and locked the door. He heard slow footsteps coming from downstairs.

Tap, tap, tap...

"Any monster that attempts to enter someone else's dorm room will immediately die..."

Before Ye Chu could finish, his body went weak. He caught hold of the chair beside him to keep from collapsing.

The instant he tried to establish the rule, his vision went white. He had a feeling that if he finished saying it, he might or might not kill the boss, but he definitely wouldn't survive himself.

Apparently, he couldn't just make up any rule he wanted. He had wondered how the game could possibly be that easy.

The dormitory building's established rules had a stronger hold over the monster. Taking his current role as dormitory supervisor into account, Ye Chu decided to establish another rule:

"All monsters in this building shall be considered stu..."

The familiar weakness swept over him. This time, Ye Chu dropped to his knees, clutching the chair, as red, green, and white blotches filled his vision.

He heard the monster's footsteps drawing closer. It had already reached his floor, and he could even hear the rush of air stirred up by its flailing tentacles.

A bead of sweat slid down Ye Chu's forehead, and his throat bobbed involuntarily.

What should I do? I can't establish any rules at all!

Have I pushed my luck too far? Am I going to die right here?

Ye Chu took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down. If he couldn't establish rules that directly targeted the monster, that meant...

He could do it indirectly.

Ye Chu sensed that the monster was already standing outside his room. A single sweep of its tentacles would shatter the flimsy door.

He heard the monster's hoarse voice outside. "You're finished, hahaha."

Ye Chu: "..."

With a crash, the dorm room door shattered, and Ye Chu came face-to-face with the monster for the first time.

It was tall, nearly two meters in height. Its black body was covered in yellow eyeballs, and several long, black tentacles waved behind it.

Ye Chu hugged the trash can. "Bleurgh-"

The monster: "..."

"You're finished, you know that?!!"

"I'm right in front of you!! You're finished, I'm telling you!"

"Killing you would be as easy as killing an ant!!"

"I'm furious right now! Tremble before me, human! Hahaha!!"

Hearing that melodramatic rant, Ye Chu immediately ordered, "Shut up."

The monster: "..." The eyes on its body blinked, as though it had no idea what had just happened.

Everything became much quieter. Before the idiot could react, Ye Chu issued his second order. "I declare that no living being may enter or leave this dorm room at will."

Once he finished speaking, Ye Chu felt some of his strength drain away, but fortunately, the order took effect.

"I declare that everyone inside this dorm room shall be classified as a dorm resident."

Ye Chu's legs weakened, and he sank into the chair before issuing his final order:

"I declare that all dorm residents shall be classified as students!"

The order took effect.

A school uniform suddenly appeared on the monster. Since this was the girls' dormitory, it was even wearing a plaid skirt.

Ye Chu: "..." It was a little hard to look at.

A name badge hung on the front of its uniform. No name had been written on it yet, but it already proved that the monster now had student status.

A smug smile spread across Ye Chu's face. Even the monster in its plaid skirt looked a little more pleasing to him now.

[Holy shit!! That was so cool!!!]

[Using the rules to break the rules. Gotta say it: Ye Chu is a goddamn legend!]

[? He's already got the boss under control?]

Ye Chu rose and stood smugly in front of the monster. "Bet you didn't see that coming. Trapped by your own rules."

The hundreds of eyes on the monster's body stared straight at Ye Chu. Its tentacles waved behind it, looking ready to send him flying at any moment.

Seeing what it intended to do, Ye Chu immediately said, "Students may not hit the Dormitory Supervisor."

The resentment and hatred in those eyeballs became particularly obvious.

Ye Chu sat leisurely in his chair, waiting for news from the Laboratory Building.

Without the monster's interference or the hallucinations, things progressed remarkably smoothly at the Laboratory Building. Pei Yanchuan found a handbook in the corner of an office.

He discovered that the school had indeed once been a legitimate school, and all its rules had benefited the students. Then, on some unknown day, the monster had taken over.

The monster could alter the rules, but it was also bound by them. Since it wasn't particularly bright to begin with, it had only changed a handful of obvious ones here and there, allowing Ye Chu to exploit a loophole.

When Pei Yanchuan arrived at the dormitory with the handbook, Ye Chu was holding a rope. Tied to its other end was... the yellow-eyed monster.

Su Fengzi and the others followed behind Pei Yanchuan. They clearly noticed it too, and then-"Bleurgh-"

They all began dry-heaving together.

The yellow-eyed monster: "..."

Its eyes widened even further. Unfortunately, it had been silenced and had no way to protest these humans' disrespect toward the "Creator."
