Background
Igula worked in the insurance industry before his imprisonment, using contract-based fraud to swindle wealthy clients. At Mud Coffee, he exploited gambling games and the “control time” system to induce customers into making verbal oaths, which his Contract Spell Spirit then enforced. He was eventually arrested by the Sin Hunting Hall after being unable to alter his memories before capture. 160
His Veela bloodline’s awakening gave him access to the Mind School. By finding Resonance and Fulfillment in the Void Realm, he became a Two-Winged Mind Artificer and developed a career around exploiting desire, language, and cognitive blind spots rather than direct violence. 19
In Broken Lake Prison, Igula entered deathmatches to harvest Contribution Points from weaker inmates. He maintained a forty-five-match winning streak by coercing opponents into repeated matches and using Contract-assisted Resonance to read their intended attacks. 18 19
Appearance
Igula is a blond-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned man renowned for his exceptional beauty; prisoners call him the “Beautiful Beast.” His Veela bloodline contributes to his appearance, though he emphasizes that he possesses only a small amount of Veela ancestry. 18 361
- Blond hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. 18
- Frequently described as handsome enough to rival striking women in appearance. 181
- Maintains a polished, elegant presentation and uses grooming, styling, and disguise as professional tools. 196 334
- Often wears or carries carefully chosen equipment, including a dark-red windbreaker, paper umbrella, and the revolver Evil Wolf. 413 972 1350
Personality
Igula is calculating, proud, and deeply committed to personal freedom. He considers domination—not crude violence—the defining principle of his age, and views social systems, laws, and even the Void Realm through the lens of exploitation, desire, and control. 19 416
A self-described natural antisocial personality, he finds deception both profitable and necessary for survival. He maintains an image of flawless calculation by preparing contingencies that encourage others to imagine abilities he does not possess. 183 324
Despite his insistence that dependence is dangerous, Igula gradually becomes attached to Ash, Harvey, Liss, and other companions. He remains reluctant to expose vulnerability, but repeatedly acts to preserve those connections—including saving Gwen after admitting he had manipulated her. 183 733 887
He is highly sensitive to being controlled. Yinzhi’s effortless emotional manipulation alarms him precisely because it makes cooperation feel comfortable, leading him to conclude that anyone who makes him feel fully at ease is likely operating at a higher level of social control. 878
Abilities & Skills
Mind Artificery
Igula specializes in manipulating perception, intent, emotion, and social relationships through Mind School spellcraft and rhetoric. His early core Spell Spirits are Contract, Resonance, and Fulfillment. 18 19
- Uses verbal agreements to create binding mental marks and contractual obligations. 18 67
- Developed Words Become Reality, forcing targets to agree to deathmatches and repeat them until their Contribution Points were exhausted. 19
- Uses Contract-assisted Resonance and verbal prompting to perceive an opponent’s intended actions before they move. 19
- Can draw out information from clients so effectively that victims may enjoy speaking with him even while being swindled. 105
- His manipulation is less effective against intelligent, socially experienced Artificers, whose life experience provides natural resistance to Mind School influence. 387
Revelation
Igula possesses the Revelation Spell Spirit, which issues warnings through mundane signs, such as text appearing in toothpaste foam on a mirror. 67 268
- Warned him not to respond to Ash; his refusal to heed the warning led to Ash binding him through the Scale Spell Spirit. 67
- Frequently provides cryptic guidance connected to danger, opportunity, and Ash. 200 667
- Igula uses Revelation as a source of strategic information, though its messages are often incomplete or easily misinterpreted. 67 667
Mind Domination
Igula can directly dominate creatures through the Mind Miracle Mind Domination. It is particularly effective against Knowledge Creatures that lack social experience or civilization. 387
- Seized control of a Thousand Feather Bird Dragon in the Void Realm Colosseum. 387
- Commonly dominates large Knowledge Creatures as mounts while exploring the Time Continent. 387
- Can incite internal conflict among groups of creatures by temporarily controlling one or two members. 387
- Has difficulty using direct domination against experienced intelligent beings. 387
Saint Domain and Contemplation Overlap
By the Senro arc, Igula possesses a Saint Domain and several battlefield-control miracles. He uses Fear Shackles to impose fear and secure compliance during interrogations. 699
- Can plant Fear Shackles in a target’s mind to ensure loyalty through fear. 699
- Uses Contemplation Overlap, a miracle whose strength depends on his understanding of the template being imagined. 616
- Uses Ash as a combat template because Ash’s strength grows rapidly and is openly demonstrated, giving Igula a reliable model to overlap with. 616
Rusty Crow Mode
As a Legendary Arcanist, Igula develops Rusty Crow Mode, which lets him deceive inanimate matter into behaving according to his spoken lies. 877
- Can make air form barriers, redirect light, create storms, summon lightning, or alter terrain. 877
- Can deceive ordinary miracles into turning back against their caster when they lack sufficient Wisdom. 877
- Altering existing matter costs far less Spell Power than creating phenomena from nothing. 877
- Cannot directly bewitch living beings in this mode. 877
Heartless Gun Bullets
Igula’s Legendary firearm miracle turns bullets into obedient combat units rather than conventional ammunition. 972
- Fires Heartless Gun Bullets from his revolver, Evil Wolf. 972
- The bullets independently seek and pursue designated enemies. 972
- Reflects his preference for command and control: he regards firing the gun as issuing orders rather than personally fighting. 972
High-Level Mind Miracles
As a Demigod, Igula gains access to mind-based effects capable of bypassing conventional defenses and influencing vast populations. 1144 1350
- Shared Heart Divine Spirit can connect directly to a target’s mind regardless of defenses, allowing Igula to cast effects on himself that transfer to the connected target. 1144
- Mind Miracle of Splendor links artificers through the Sorcerer’s Manual and overwhelms their minds with the presence of Mind Artifice Supremacy. 1350
Social Engineering and Analysis
Igula’s greatest non-magical weapon is information. He rapidly dissects systems, incentives, social structures, and behavioral weaknesses. 69 416
- Designed the central plan for the Broken Lake Prison break, including exploitation of the microchips’ ten-minute life-signal interval. 86 87
- Identified Beldet’s Domination System as a debt-based mechanism tied to Beidian currency. 416
- Hacked the Hua Bei borrowing system, letting him spend 100 million Beidian every second without reducing his borrowing limit. 416
- Deduces historical truths by assembling fragmented evidence into coherent logical structures. 624
Equipment
- Evil Wolf — An ornate revolver with a golden barrel, silver cylinder, white wooden grip, and blue-black wolf engravings; used to fire Heartless Gun Bullets. 972
- Paper umbrella — Carried while casting the Mind Miracle of Splendor in Harpy City. 1350
- Metal headpiece — Can be straightened into a metal spike for emergency self-defense. 177
- Igula Figurine — A decoy built from bedding and clothing to convince intruders that he has predicted their arrival and escaped. 324
Relationships
- Ash Hiss — Initially treated as prey and manipulated into a deathmatch, but becomes Igula’s closest and most enduring companion after the prison break. Ash binds Igula as a “good friend” through the Scale Spell Spirit; their relationship later develops into mutual trust, mockery, and emotional reliance. 18 19 67 183 887
- Harvey — Fellow Broken Lake escapee and long-term partner. Their temperaments and aesthetics sharply conflict, but they repeatedly work together, eventually undertaking the Demigod promotion Ritual without Ash. 183 625 993
- Amy Lexas — Bloodfury Hunter and former gambling opponent. Igula won a contractual Wish from her, then used it after the prison break to obtain shelter, food, and intelligence while evading the Sin Hunting Hall. Their relationship later shifts toward a more genuine friendship. 160 161
- Anfield Beldet — Beldet family member who recognizes Igula’s insight and discusses the nature of fraud and domination with him. Igula gives her a Kingdom Gold Coin to help preserve her self-awareness. 416 417
- Ifrin Beldet — Beldet Family Head and adversarial would-be recruiter. She offers Igula Beldet’s resources if he makes Anfield fall in love with him, while Igula later seizes control of Beldet’s Domination System. 391 416
- Yinzhi — Demon and manipulator who repeatedly attempts to recruit Igula. Their cooperation in the Holy Grail conflict is highly effective, but Igula becomes wary after recognizing the extent of her control over him. 867 877 878 913
- Gwen — A Proxy whom Igula initially manipulates as a tool. After revealing this manipulation, he saves Gwen from the apocalyptic rift, marking a significant break from his former indifference toward others. 702 733
- Liss — Ash’s daughter and frequent target of Igula’s sharp tongue. Though she fears his malice, Igula offers her psychological observations and occasionally shows concern for her well-being. 232 361
Major Arcs
Broken Lake Prison
Igula enters the story as a death row inmate at Broken Lake Prison. He builds his reputation through deathmatch fraud, wins forty-five consecutive matches, and uses his Mind School abilities to turn opponents into sources of Contribution Points. Ash defeats him after adapting beyond Igula’s predictions. 18 19
After Ash binds him with the Scale Spell Spirit, Igula becomes entangled in Ash’s escape attempt. He provides inmate intelligence, designs the prison-break framework, identifies weaknesses in microchip surveillance, and helps the group infiltrate the transport ship as Weak Healers. 67 69 86 87
Escape from Blood Moon
Following the prison break, Igula is hunted by the Sin Hunting Hall and uses his outstanding Wish from Amy to hide in her home. Though Amy keeps him in humiliating conditions, she provides timely intelligence on Observation Point 53 and prepares his infiltration into an adventurer team. 160 161
Funeral Agency and Beldet
Igula joins Ash and Harvey under Annan’s Funeral Agency. In Gospel Country, he studies its ranking-driven society, investigates Beldet’s Domination School, and becomes associated with the Scheme List’s prediction of Rusty Crow. 196 207 416
He discovers that Beldet’s authority depends on Beidian debt, then hacks Hua Bei to gain an inexhaustible spending limit. This allows him to seize Beldet’s highest authority and challenge Ifrin’s system from within. 416
Senro and the Truth Connections
In Senro, Igula becomes a key investigator of the Grey Fox Artificers’ legacy. He studies the Twins Experiment, reconstructs the truth of prior God Eras, and realizes that the Truth Connections are designed to make successors personally accept truth rather than merely learn it. 588 596 624
He ultimately deduces that passing the final Truth Connection requires accepting an implied mission to destroy the world. Unable to pass through the Mist Wall himself, he considers this failure fortunate. 632
Holy Grail Conflict and Demigod Ascension
During the Holy Grail conflict, Igula forms a temporary alliance with Yinzhi and Amilo. He gains experience in large-scale Legendary combat, develops Rusty Crow Mode, and later reaches the Legendary realm through Heartless Gun Bullets. 867 877 972
After Ash reunites with his Sweethearts, Igula and Harvey leave without farewell to confront the Demigod promotion Ritual on their own terms. They later emerge as demigods and become leaders among the forces in Illusion Hell. 993 1145
Five-Winged Demigod
As a Five-Winged Demigod, Igula seeks to surpass Ash and become the Void Realm Lord. In Harpy City, he uses the Mind Miracle of Splendor to connect all artificers through the Sorcerer’s Manual and declare devotion to the Void Realm Lord. 1350
