After some time away,
Li Wei returned to Eterna City.
A blue streak flashed across the night sky, accompanied by a sonic boom.
Although Latios flew faster than sound, Li Wei hardly felt a thing, because Latios protected him with psychic power.
Following the directions Cynthia had given him, Li Wei arrived at the Hisuian Goodra ruins they were excavating.
"Thanks for your hard work, Latios."
"No problem."
Compared to the somewhat mischievous Latias, Latios was remarkably composed.
"You can go home and wait for me."
"I can just wait here."
Seeing Cynthia and the others approach, Latios slowly rose into the air, then turned invisible and vanished from sight.
It wasn't that Latios was shy around strangers. He simply had no interest in what they were about to discuss.
At the entrance to the newly discovered ruins on the outskirts of Eterna City,
"You only just got home, and..."
Li Wei cut Cynthia off.
"There's no need for that between us. Besides, I'm very interested in both Kubfu and Hisuian Goodra."
"And teaching really isn't tiring. Being in the Alola Region is practically a vacation for me."
Ash and the others weren't little terrors, after all. They were pretty easy to teach.
Cynthia couldn't help smiling.
"All right, let's get straight to it, then."
Under Cynthia's guidance, Li Wei walked through a passage outlined by temporary archaeological lighting.
This place was quite close to the Ursaluna ruins Li Wei had visited before, just on the other side of the mountain.
Sinnoh was steeped in history.
And Eterna City, Celestic Town, Iron Island, and Mt. Coronet could be considered the places where that history ran deepest.
Led by Cynthia and Professor Rowan, they once again stepped onto this land that bore the weight of history.
