Over at the History Museum in Eterna City,
Once Professor Rowan had identified a possible evolutionary path for Hisui Goodra, a research project quickly took shape.
To recreate the ancient environment as closely as possible,
Professor Rowan's research team decided to establish three controlled experimental sites to test the evolutionary theory from different angles.
The first site chosen for the experiment was Mt. Coronet.
As the mountain of Sinnoh's origins and spiritual veins, Mt. Coronet itself held ancient, powerful energy,
and its complex geological structure and abundant groundwater were considered the most natural choice for recreating Hisui's environment.
More importantly, Mt. Coronet retained its ancient, untouched terrain, along with a great many Pokémon populations.
If there was anywhere in Sinnoh where the modern environment most closely resembled the ancient one,
it was undoubtedly Mt. Coronet.
Even Shieldon, a fossil Pokémon long believed extinct, lived there.
Professor Rowan also had a research laboratory there, and a pair of its staff members would be assigned specifically to raising Goomy.
Mt. Coronet would serve as the natural evolution control group, allowing them to observe whether Goomy could evolve through their own adaptability in an environment close to that of ancient times.
The second experimental site chosen was Iron Island.
On this island famous for mining, even the air was filled with metallic particles, and the groundwater was rich in iron,
making it an excellent example of an intensely artificial, metal-rich environment.
This site would test whether an environment with extremely abundant metallic elements could accelerate the metallization of Sliggoo's mucus and forcibly induce the Steel type.
