The Wela Volcano Festival was underway.
Diancie was fascinated by everything that sparkled at the festival and lingered at the gemstone stalls.
But Diancie itself was the most dazzling of all. Its diamond sheen drew countless admiring gazes.
"It's so beautiful!"
"I wish I had a Diancie, too!"
Unfortunately, as far as Li Wei knew, only two Diancie existed in the world.
One was Princess Diancie of the Diamond Domain.
The other was Li Wei's.
Steven had once tried to find a Diancie, too, but unsurprisingly, he had come up empty-handed.
A hundred game tokens were actually quite a lot.
Li Wei accompanied Zeraora to try a punching-strength test. Sure enough, the machine nearly went off the charts.
And that was with Zeraora holding back.
"Fish scooping! Fish scooping!"
Fish scooping was the easiest place to burn through game tokens.
They weren't really trying to catch fish anyway.
The pool held quite a variety, including Goldeen, Wishiwashi, Magikarp, and Luvdisc.
"Woof, woof!" Arcanine wagged its tail at Li Wei, practically drooling.
There was a grilled meat skewer stall up ahead.
"Let's buy some!"
"Who else wants some? Don't be shy-raise your hands."
Li Wei bought Arcanine an extra-large portion of grilled meat skewers for Pokémon, and the other Pokémon each got a portion as well.
"Don't eat too much. Save some room for other food."
"I hear there's another big event tonight."
Li Wei also picked out an unpolished gemstone for Diancie to polish itself.
Meanwhile, one of the festival's main events,
the Wela Volcano Summit Race, was about to begin.
Ash, Kiawe, Mallow, Lana, Sophocles, Lillie, and the other contestants stood at the starting line, raring to go.
