In the forest on the way to the Pokémon School,
guided by Tapu Koko,
Ash and Pikachu arrived at a certain spot.
Among the bushes shaded by the trees, a Pokémon that looked like a purple cloud lay fast asleep.
"A Pokémon?"
"Pika Pikachu?"
Pikachu gazed curiously at the Pokémon before gently rubbing a cheek against the sleeping Pokémon.
As Pikachu nudged the Pokémon, the little one began to sway, but remained sound asleep.
Ash reached out and picked the Pokémon up.
"So light."
"Light and fluffy, just like a cloud!"
Question marks appeared on Pokédex Rotom's screen. "No information on this Pokémon, Rotom!"
Just then, Ash suddenly remembered.
"It's a promise! I think I promised someone that I'd definitely find this Pokémon!"
At Ash's shout, the sleeping Cosmog furrowed its brow and smacked its lips.
Ash had completely forgotten that it was time for class.
"Alola."
When Professor Kukui arrived in the classroom, he discovered that Ash and Pikachu weren't there yet.
"What's going on? Where are Ash and Pikachu?"
"They haven't come to school yet!"
Professor Kukui looked puzzled. "That's strange. I saw him leave for school this morning."
"I bet Ash ran into some Pokémon and went off to catch it!"
"I think Ash must have run into Groudon."
Lana cracked another deadpan joke.
"As if that could happen!"
This time, Kiawe and Sophocles weren't fooled.
"Professor Kukui! Mr. Li Wei!"
Ash shouted as he ran.
"You're calling for him too soon. Li Wei isn't here yet."
Pokédex Rotom's voice followed. "We found a Pokémon with no data on record, Rotom!"
After this very muddled explanation, Professor Kukui still managed to extract the most important details.
Ash had dreamed last night.
In his dream, he had promised someone
that he would take good care of a Pokémon
