The older brother was tenacious, just the sort Dayou liked.
He was so much like Incineroar back then.
At first, Dayou had never intended to take Incineroar with him. He had wanted to choose a Fighting-type Pokémon.
He had seriously considered choosing a Kubfu,
or a Machamp, the more popular choice,
or a heavyweight Hariyama,
or a Kommo-o with incredible defenses.
But Litten's persistence had moved Dayou, and in the end, he had resolutely chosen Litten.
After grueling training, Litten had evolved into Torracat, and finally into Incineroar.
It was that arduous training that had forged an unwavering will and a powerful body...
Dayou and Incineroar had won three consecutive championships.
Only later, when Dayou fell ill, had he been forced to withdraw from the Pokémon World Martial Arts Tournament.
Of course, Dayou had not been discouraged.
He had always wanted to be a Pokémon Breeder more anyway.
The younger Kubfu sister was smarter,
good at observing and imitating. Whether learning stances or how to exert force, she picked things up a little faster than her brother.

or perhaps it was simply the natural bond between siblings,

Incineroar would come over, rub their heads with his paws, and hand them Pokéblocks to replenish their stamina.
When he was not acting as the senior disciple,
Incineroar was quite gentle.
