Old Master was going to teach them how to grow Tamato Berries.
Neither Old Master nor Li Wei ever held anything back. As long as someone wanted to learn, they were willing to teach.
This was probably thanks to Professor Oak's influence, as well as Blue's selfless approach to teaching.
Li Wei did the actual work, while Old Master only gave instructions.
"The soil here isn't actually ideal for growing Tamato Berries. The soil near the forests north of Eterna City and Celestic Town is better suited for them."
Shiyin raised her hand and only asked after Old Master nodded. "Then why are we growing them here?"
Old Master explained, "That's what makes Pokémon so amazing. Thanks to Shaymin's presence, the soil here has become more fertile."
Shaymin didn't need to do anything special. As long as Shaymin was happy, the gratitude flowers on Shaymin's body would bloom.
That, in turn, affected the surrounding soil.
According to Floaroma Town's legend, it was the Shaymin who had transformed a lifeless village into a town with flowers blooming across every hillside.
After hearing Li Wei recount Floaroma Town's legend,
Shiyin exclaimed, "Shaymin is amazing! No, Pokémon are amazing!"
Mizuki nodded. "That's right. Pokémon are already an inseparable part of our lives."
Old Master continued, "Tamato Berries are generally planted between July and September. They need loose, well-aerated soil with excellent drainage."
"The most important factors are temperature and sunlight. The temperature must stay above twenty-five degrees, even at night."
As he spoke, Old Master pointed at the greenhouse overhead, which helped retain heat.
"Aside from the necessary fertilizer, you can also use Fire Stone powder or volcanic ash to fertilize Tamato Berries."
