Cynthia had previously told Li Wei that she was on vacation. In reality, she had attended a Pokémon League meeting and was preparing to crack down on criminal organizations such as Pokémon Hunters.
Li Wei hadn't asked for details and had genuinely thought she'd gone back to Celestic Town for a vacation.
