Especially since Li Wei had even taken Lycanroc back to Celestic Town. They had practically spent every day together for those four-plus months.
Now that Lycanroc had left, Li Wei felt a little empty inside.

Arcanine licked the back of Li Wei's hand, then nuzzled him with its big, round head in comfort before breaking into a grin.
Li Wei certainly wasn't the only one who deserved credit for helping Lycanroc lose weight.
Lucario and Arcanine had also taken a fair amount of the work off his hands.
Lucario had helped Li Wei supervise Lycanroc's swimming, while Arcanine had taken Lycanroc running across the open fields.
Like Li Wei, Arcanine had come to see Lycanroc as a friend.
Li Wei rubbed Arcanine's big head in return.
"I'm fine."
Arcanine was a glutton and seemed carefree, spending all day racing around, but it was actually quite sensitive.
"Go play!"
"Woof!"
Arcanine returned to its carefree self and bounded away.
