Li Wei, Steven, and Tonio had each discovered something unusual.
Tonio had detected two powerful forces clashing that morning, which was why he had left his laboratory.
Using his hazy memories, the radar from Advanced Scan, and Lucario's warning,
Li Wei had confirmed Darkrai's presence in the Courtyard.
Steven's discovery, however, was different from Li Wei's.
It was also something Gallade had discovered.
Gallade lived in the Courtyard and knew every blade of grass and every tree there.
Yet Gallade had discovered something very strange.
The Courtyard had been damaged!
The problem was that Gallade had sensed no signs of a battle, and the damage itself was strange.
Led by Gallade, Li Wei and the others came to a flight of stone steps leading down to a basement.
But what drew their attention even more were the toppled decorative stone pillars.
Li Wei immediately noticed something unusual.
The damage to these pillars looked strange.
They had neither clean cuts nor fractures.
Instead, they looked as though someone had twisted them several times with tremendous force, without breaking them.
All the toppled pillars were like this.
"Beep, beep, beep!"
At the same time, Steven's portable Energy Detector sounded its alarm again.
When Steven pointed the portable Energy Detector at the toppled pillars, the beeping became more frequent.
Steven nodded. "This is the strange thing I was talking about."
The pillars had been damaged, but in a very unusual way. Steven had noticed this earlier.
Alice could not help frowning.
"This is awful! Who did this?"
Having grown up in this Courtyard, Alice was deeply attached to it.
Steven stood up and said gravely, "It's very dangerous here. I recommend evacuating immediately."
"Not just this Courtyard. The residents of Alamos Town may all need to evacuate the town."
