at Jubilife Pokémon Theme Park.
After Red versus Steven,
another clash between Champions followed immediately.
Judging by their aces, Cynthia's Garchomp would be at a disadvantage against Diantha's Gardevoir.
But Li Wei knew
Cynthia would not use Garchomp.
She was saving Garchomp for Red. That way, whether she won or lost, Cynthia would have no regrets.
That battle against Red meant a great deal to both Cynthia and Garchomp.
To that end, Cynthia had to defeat Diantha before she and Garchomp could face Red.
But the Lucario on Cynthia's team was not suited to fighting Gardevoir either.
Of course, there was another possibility:
Diantha might not use Gardevoir.
But Diantha did not choose that option.
She sent out her Gardevoir as usual.
Diantha knew perfectly well how much Cynthia wanted to battle Red, and she understood Cynthia's personality even better.
If she held back and let Cynthia advance,
Cynthia would only be more upset.
Seeing Diantha send out Gardevoir, Cynthia's lips curved slightly. Her choice was Spiritomb.
Brock mused, "Spiritomb is weak to Gardevoir's Fairy typing, but Gardevoir's Psychic typing is also weak to Spiritomb's Ghost typing..."
All in all,
this was a match whose outcome Brock could not predict.
And, just like Steven and Red,
Diantha used Mega Evolution right from the start.
Diantha raised her hand gracefully, a smile lighting up her face. "Moonblast."
Mega Gardevoir gently lifted both hands, forming a golden sphere brimming with Fairy energy and firing it at Spiritomb.
Cynthia responded calmly. "Shadow Ball."
The ghostly face above Spiritomb's Odd Keystone flickered, and a Shadow Ball packed with Ghost energy shot forward to intercept it!
Boom-
The two bursts of energy collided in midair and exploded!
Moonblast had a slight edge. Its remaining energy splashed onto Spiritomb, drawing
