Li Wei, Cynthia, and Lance had gathered to deal with the matter of Shaymin and the Pokémon Hunters.
After using the Viridian Force to read Shaymin's memories, Lance made Li Wei an offer.
"Would you like to become an Investigator? You have the potential. Even trained Investigators don't have your level of competence."
Calling the police, disabling their transportation, and taking command-every move Li Wei had made had been the right choice.
When Lance suggested becoming a Pokémon League Investigator, Li Wei had been tempted for a moment.
But it wasn't for him.
He still had work to do at the Breeding Center. Learning about Pokémon breeding and expanding the Breeding Center were his priorities.
Li Wei could step in when he came across injustice, but he couldn't fight evil every day the way Lance did.
"I'm sorry, but I can't accept."
"But..."
Before Lance could start persuading him, Li Wei asked, "I'm not an Investigator, but didn't I still save Shaymin?"
Cynthia gently reasoned with him. "Lance, do you spend every day fighting crime all over the place because you're the chief Investigator?"
Lance suddenly stood up.
"No, it's because I love what I do!"
"Even if I weren't an Investigator, I would never stand by and watch a crime happen in front of me."
Brilliant rays of light suddenly shone behind Lance!
"You can make your point without bringing your own lighting effects, you know."
Lance quietly reined in his Viridian Force.
He definitely hadn't released it deliberately. The Viridian Force had genuinely responded to his resolve.
Cynthia couldn't help smiling at Li Wei's quip. Then she looked at him gently stroking Shaymin.
"Pokémon breeding is what he loves."
Lance paused at Cynthia's words.
"Is it? I see. I was presumptuous."
Li Wei nodded.
