When the Card countdown reached zero and Shen Ru and Mo Yu returned to the special storyline, the scenery around them shattered.
Light and darkness alternated, and the scene returned to the secret doorway in the study.
The brief intrusion into that scene was like tossing a tiny pebble into the sea, stirring only an insignificant ripple. Shen Ru had not even figured out the purpose of this hidden storyline.
"Has the system already told you that you completed task two?"
Since Mo Yu had gone through the final scene with Shen Ru, he naturally followed the young man into the concealed room.
Shen Ru visibly paused, then slowly nodded and said cryptically:
"But judging by what we know now, I shouldn't have fully completed the task yet."
Task two required the players to discover why there were humans inside the Puppets. So far, however, Shen Ru only knew that the world they were in was not real, and that humans in the New World had to wear Puppet shells. The reason remained unknown.
"It seems the system doesn't want us digging into the reason."
Shen Ru raised an eyebrow. But he had one particular trait: once he found something that piqued his interest, he had to get to the bottom of it.
Why would he pass up something so interesting?
Suddenly, an enigmatic chuckle came from the man behind him. "No. Quite the opposite."
Shen Ru turned his head. The faint light spilling from the Secret Passage brushed over his handsome profile and faintly puzzled eyes.
Mo Yu's expression held little warmth, and his tone was equally flat:
"He knows your tastes just as well as I do."
