The summer lavender fields looked like a painter's spilled pigments. Flower spikes covering the hills unfurled in the warm breeze, tinting heaven and earth with a gentle purple haze.
Wei Yanchi followed behind 39, watching him stand amid the lavender. His hair had been tied up for too long, leaving slight waves when he let it down, soft and fluffy as it fell around his waist.

But 39 didn't fall for it. With an air of cool aloofness, he glanced at him. "Why are you following me?"

Wei Yanchi said sheepishly, "I was just curious about your mission, Mr. 39. From the looks of it, it must have something to do with the Laboratory. I know there's a Research Center nearby. It belongs to the Laboratory and is quite famous. I've always been curious about things from the Otherworld."
"Heh. Sometimes, being too curious isn't a good thing."
39 gave a cold laugh, but he didn't shoot Wei Yanchi dead or simply walk away as Wei Yanchi had imagined he might.
He merely turned back to look at the lavender fields. In the distance, the Farmer wandered leisurely among the flowers, occasionally lowering his head to inspect them. Bees and butterflies flitted through the blooms, and a fine mist of water clung to the flower spikes.
Wei Yanchi couldn't resist asking, "Don't you think I'm a nuisance, Mr. 39?"
"You certainly are."
Just as I thought. Amusement filled Wei Yanchi's eyes as he leaned closer and asked, "Then why don't you kill me, Mr. 39?"
