People bustled around them as the actors took their places onstage. The spotlights drew every eye, and the actress's bright red dress looked like a dazzling ruby set into the wooden stage.
39 did not take his rose. His cold, dark green eyes shifted from the red rose to Wei Yanchi's face, meeting his gaze, and the corners of his mouth lifted in a faint, utterly merciless sneer.
"Have you lost your mind?"
Wei Yanchi moved over and sat beside him. They were in a corner of the back row. Few people came to see opera to begin with, and the back row was so far from the stage that hardly anyone sat there.
"No."
Wei Yanchi's brows drew together slightly, a helpless smile on his lips, but his eyes were gentle and earnest. He went straight to the point. "Every word I say is sincere, straight from my heart. From the first moment I saw you, Mr. 39, through every meeting since, I've found myself completely out of control. I can't stop myself from looking at you or make myself stay calm.
