The next day, thick fog blotted out the sky and sun. Though it was light out, everything was a wash of white. The entire Monastery lay shrouded in fog, its buildings like enormous, silent monsters and the people within like drifting ghosts.

They followed the Monk back to their respective posts.

By the time they crossed through the thick fog and reached the Orphanage, the orphans had already begun their morning reading in the classroom.

The Red-Haired Man assigned their work again.

He pointed at Ying Lin. "You, help out in the kitchen."

He pointed at Beiwei. "You're in charge of the first lesson."

He pointed at Wang Peng. "You're in charge of the second lesson."

He assigned 39 no tasks at all.

With that, he sat back down at the Orphanage entrance and lit his pipe. He even asked 39, "Want to try some?"

39 shook his head, glanced into the distance beyond the Orphanage, then turned and entered the classroom with Beiwei-or rather, Beiwei followed him inside.

The classroom was extremely quiet. The children sat half-dead in their seats, without even the energy to raise their heads and torment their new teachers.

39 had apparently dealt them a crushing blow. They would probably stay wilted for a few days.

Beiwei hesitated before saying quietly, "Mr. 39, I have some clues to share with you. Zeng Huan said she made a deal with Wei Yanchi. She's a Regressor and has a lot of clues. She was the one who helped us survive last night's deadly threat."

Huh?

Zeng Huan was a Regressor?!

Wasn't Wei Yanchi supposed to be the Regressor?

Wait, which loop was this, then?

Xie De asked, "Which loop is this?"

Beiwei said, "We asked Zeng Huan yesterday, too. She said this was the second loop."
