Li Xian had already decided how to answer Ji Xie's question on their way there:
"I'll be a Dreamcatcher. You be a Supervisor."
They could apply for the same job, but that would limit the information they could gather, so dividing the work was already their default choice.
Yet Ji Xie frowned at his answer and suggested quietly:
"How about we switch?"
Of the two jobs, being a Dreamcatcher was clearly more dangerous, and Ji Xie felt he was better suited to it. He had assumed Li Xian would feel the same, only to find that he thought the exact opposite.
Li Xian merely shook his head gently at the suggestion.
Ji Xie wanted to try persuading him again, but Li Xian anticipated this. He gave Ji Xie's fingertips a gentle squeeze and said:
"It's settled."
After being turned down, Ji Xie stopped insisting, but he also turned his head away and said nothing more.
Li Xian's hand paused around his fingertips. Then he leaned forward, trying to see his expression.
Was he sulking?
Ji Xie always tended to be a little overprotective of him. Li Xian didn't dislike that, but there were things he wanted to do himself, too.
Li Xian looked around. A long corridor stretched before them from the entrance, with no one in sight on either side.
So he took off his mask and stopped where he stood.
Ji Xie, whose hand he was holding, was still walking forward. Only when he felt the tug on his hand did he stop as well, turning back in slight confusion.
The next second, Li Xian rose onto his toes and pecked him on the cheek.
"Don't worry."
The touch against his cheek instantly dispelled Ji Xie's irritation, but he kept his expression stern, hoping to wrangle a little
