Li Xian felt that Honey Shadow's influence on him had mostly faded and was about to say something to Ji Xie when he suddenly felt the arms around him tighten.
"What is it?"
He looked up at Ji Xie and found him staring fixedly at a spot not far behind him, as though something were there.
Puzzled, Li Xian turned his head and saw something that instantly put him on guard:
Sunlight streamed through the window onto him, casting a shadow diagonally behind him. Now a familiar ripple appeared along its edges and began spreading outward-
Li Xian instantly recalled an almost identical scene. On the night he had served as a Dreamcatcher, a mass of Honey Shadow had "flowed" out of a sleeping resident in exactly this way.
But it was broad daylight now. He was neither asleep nor had he eaten any of the candy provided by the residential complex-why would Honey Shadow emerge from him now?
Li Xian shifted and stood up from Ji Xie's embrace. Their overlapping shadows separated, and the "ripples" followed Li Xian's shadow, while everything beneath Ji Xie remained normal.
So it really had come from him.
Li Xian watched his shadow intently, while Ji Xie silently readied himself to attack. A few seconds later, a mass of Honey Shadow separated from Li Xian's shadow.
But it looked very... strange.
Rather than a bottomless black, it was a slightly translucent brown with warm orange undertones.
Li Xian had seen Honey Shadows with color before, but those had only faint blue or red glimmers within the black. The thing before him, on the other hand, was so pale it was almost the color of milk tea. It looked vastly different from the Honey Shadows he had seen before.
Soon, the "Honey Shadow" moved.
