Li Xian blinked with difficulty, trying to regain his sense of being in the real world, but failed.
Was he afraid?
Not really.
If there was anything that upset him-it was probably the regret of not getting to see Ji Xie one last time.
For some reason, a thin black mist had settled over the marble floor before him, and Li Xian could no longer tell whether this was happening in reality or was just a hallucination.
The darkness grew thicker and thicker... until it covered his entire field of vision.
Li Xian simply waited in silence, until even he no longer knew what he was waiting for.
How long had it been?
He heard the question rise from within himself.
Li Xian felt as though a long time had passed.
Half an hour? An hour? Or had most of the day already gone by?
If he could still think like this, he probably wasn't dead.
Li Xian thought optimistically. Then, all of a sudden, a cacophony reached his ears-
Roars, mournful cries, screams...
He tried hard to make sense of the jumble of sounds and realized they were all agonized wails.
...So noisy.
Li Xian unconsciously furrowed his brows and tried to cover his ears with his hands-
Smack.
The sensation of his palm landing against the side of his face made his eyes snap open.
After taking a moment to adjust to the disorientation of emerging from that muddled state, Li Xian immediately sat upright.
His vision blurred briefly as he raised his head, then quickly cleared. He turned to look beside him-and discovered that, at some point, he had been moved onto a bed in the staff lounge.
Li Xian immediately got out of bed and brushed off his clothes, then paused. The glass jar he carried
