As God King Tang's daughter-oh, no, half his daughter, to be precise-Wang Dong'er was immensely valuable and worth spending some effort on.
As for how he would spend that effort, he could take his time in the days ahead.
"Whew. A heavy burden and a long road ahead."
Gu Yunxiao let out a long breath, composed himself, and listened to Wang Yan lecturing at the podium.
The theoretical material was dry and dull, but some parts were worth hearing. He could treat it as broadening his horizons.
Soon, the morning classes ended.
Xiao Xiao patted Gu Yunxiao on the shoulder and smiled sweetly. "Yunxiao, I'm going out for lunch with Dong'er. Want to come?"
"No, thanks."
Gu Yunxiao shook his head with a faint smile. "I have something to do. You two go ahead."
"All right, then. We'll go ourselves." Xiao Xiao felt a little disappointed, but she did not insist.
Gu Yunxiao stood up and shifted his gaze toward Wang Dong'er beside Xiao Xiao. After smiling and nodding at her, he left the classroom.
Watching this, Wang Dong'er felt a little unsettled.
Gu Yunxiao had looked at her and smiled at her, too.
But compared with his smile for Xiao Xiao, his smile for her was more polite, his gaze as clear as a blank sheet of paper.
By rights, that was a good thing, something she should have been happy about.
Yet Wang Dong'er did not know why she simply could not feel happy.
Was it because she had always been popular with boys, and now there was one who had no interest in her?
Or was it because she was clearly prettier than Xiao Xiao, yet the smile she received fell short of Xiao Xiao's?
Perhaps it was both. Perhaps it was neither.
Gu Yunxiao...
