Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Dou Wang 16 Historically the first—and only—member of his generation to reach Dou Wang. His strength secured his position as clan leader.
Peak Dou Ling 15 16 Returns at this reduced realm after Xiao Long animates his statue. Despite the loss of strength, he remains far stronger than the clan’s three Da Dou Shi elders.

Background / History

Original Life and Fall

Xiao Lin led the Xiao Clan when it was based in Jia Ma Holy City. An unidentified, stronger Dou Wang attacked him using wind-attribute Dou Qi. Xiao Lin fell in the confrontation, and his body was never recovered. The family erected a cenotaph and maintained a memorial tablet for him in its ancestral hall 14 15.

After his disappearance, internal struggles and pressure from other clans weakened the Xiao Clan. Its ancestral properties were sold, and it relocated to Wutan City. Xiao Zhan and the Three Great Elders remained at Da Dou Shi, while the elders restricted Xiao Zhan’s access to clan resources 15 16.

Recreation by Xiao Long

Xiao Long commissioned a life-sized bluestone statue of his grandfather through Ya Fei. On the Xiao Clan’s Back Mountain, he used the Rat Talisman to animate it. The statue caught fire, gained color, and became Xiao Lin, who recognized his grandson and retained his memories from before his death 14.

Xiao Lin accepted that his new existence originated from a statue, reasoning that his memories and consciousness still made him himself. Learning of the clan’s decline quickly redirected his attention toward restoring the family 15.

To conceal the truth, he claimed that he had survived the attack and spent more than a decade recovering in hiding. Xiao Zhan initially suspected an illusion, but accepted him after he demonstrated Furious Lion Vajra 15 16.

Personality

Xiao Lin is impatient and direct: immediately after awakening, he demands an explanation and insists that Xiao Long keep it short. His anger at the elders’ treatment of Xiao Zhan shows his strong loyalty to the family’s main branch 14 15.

As a leader, he is forceful rather than conciliatory. He orders the other branches to submit to the main branch and challenges anyone dissatisfied to kill him and take his place. With Xiao Long, however, he combines trust with grandfatherly discipline, even rapping him on the head when the younger man becomes dismissive 16 17.

Abilities & Skills

Furious Lion Vajra

Xiao Lin uses the Xiao Clan’s Furious Lion Vajra cultivation technique as proof of his identity and authority 15 16.

  • Manifests an enormous lion through Dou Qi, more imposing than Xiao Zhan’s version 16.
  • Its demonstration frightens the Three Great Elders into abandoning their doubts 16.

Rat Talisman–Animated Existence

His recreated body possesses his own consciousness and the original Xiao Lin’s memories, but its animation depends on Xiao Long 15 17.

  • Xiao Long can deliberately return him to statue form with a thought 17.
  • Excessive separation breaks their connection and causes him to revert to stone; travel to the Magical Beast Mountain Range exceeds the workable distance 20.
  • Xiao Long can reactivate him by applying the Rat Talisman’s power again 20.
  • Xiao Lin experiences the inactive interval as little more than closing and reopening his eyes 20.

Clan Restoration

  • Reasserts main-branch authority: Ends the four branches’ equal standing and orders the other three to defer to the main branch 16.
  • Orders financial scrutiny: Announces a review of the Three Great Elders’ businesses 16.
  • Appoints Xiao Long young clan leader: Gives his grandson’s words the same authority as his own, while assuring him that the position requires no administrative work 16.
  • Plans a return to Jia Ma Holy City: Wants better resources and connections for the clan. Xiao Long advises waiting until they are stronger and offers to investigate restoring him to Dou Wang; no such restoration is documented 17.
  • Conceals his dependency: Announces seclusion for healing so that his return to stone during Xiao Long’s absence will not be discovered 20.

Equipment / Items

  • Tou She Ancient God Jade — A treasured clan relic inherited through previous patriarchs. Neither Xiao Lin nor his father understood its true purpose. He passes it to Xiao Long after appointing him young clan leader, then learns that it may be connected to the clan’s enemies and Xiao Xun’er’s mission 16 17.

Relationships

  • Xiao Long — Grandson and the source of his renewed existence. Xiao Lin entrusts him with succession authority and the clan’s jade; their relationship alternates between ordinary family affection and Xiao Lin’s dependence on his grandson’s power 14 16 17.
  • Xiao Zhan — Son. Xiao Lin is furious that the elders have withheld resources from him and returns to support his authority 15 16.
  • Xiao Yan — Grandson who barely remembers him. Xiao Yan accepts his identity after Yao Chen confirms the resemblance of their auras 16.
  • Three Great Elders — Clan leaders whose factions arose after his fall. They submit when he returns and dismantles their equal standing with the main branch; the First Elder addresses him as “Second Uncle” 16.
  • Nalan Jie — Connected to the old marriage arrangement between the Xiao and Nalan families. Xiao Lin expects him to insist on honoring it once news of his return spreads 17.
  • Unidentified Dou Wang — The stronger wind-attribute cultivator responsible for his original fall. Xiao Long suspects a possible Misty Cloud Sect connection, but the attacker’s identity remains unconfirmed 15.
