Background / History
Gu Yue and Na’er originated from a split of the Silver Dragon King. Gu Yue retained most of their original power, making Na’er reluctant to confront her directly. Na’er privately claimed to have taken most of their intelligence, but this was her own assessment rather than an established measure of Gu Yue’s ability 19.
Gu Yue had only recently entered human society when Lu Guan challenged her at Eastsea Academy. Her initial contacts were largely connected to the Spirit Pagoda. Behind her human identity, she sought to reclaim the Golden Dragon King’s power and believed that she and Na’er were destined to reunite and revive the Dragon God 19 23.
Appearance
Gu Yue’s human appearance is chiefly depicted with black hair, black eyes, fair skin, and a cool, aloof bearing. Other scenes show her with long silver hair, while her revealed dragon form is an enormous silver dragon 19 21 22 41 45 48.
- Initial outfit: A dress shading from white to green, paired with over-the-knee white stockings 19.
- Casual clothing: A simple white tracksuit during her private meeting with Na’er in the Spirit Ascension Platform 29.
- Relative height: Half a head shorter than Lu Guan during their post-duel exchange 21.
Personality
Gu Yue is proud and outwardly composed. Lu Guan’s three thousand-year soul rings surprise her, challenging her expectations of human talent. Despite losing their duel, she responds with excitement and admiration rather than resentment, then treats the injuries she caused 19 21 23.
She is also socially calculating. To enter the Lu household despite Na’er’s hostility, she adopts a hurt, deferential manner and invokes their teacher’s instructions. Her apparent vulnerability conceals confidence that she can manage Na’er’s resistance 26.
Her concern for the soul beasts does not extend to respecting humanity’s freedom. She proposes preserving humans inside an artificial world while returning the physical continent to soul beasts, and explicitly plans to control Lu Guan through affection and personal interests. Na’er instead argues for coexistence as equals 29.
Gu Yue can temper aggression with tactical restraint. After Tang Hao and Tang San’s projection retreat, she stops Di Tian from pursuing them because their remaining strength could endanger Na’er’s unfinished ritual 48.
Abilities & Skills
Elemental Control
- Spiritual power: Her test results are exceptional enough to attract Leng Yaozhu’s attention; her martial soul relies heavily on spiritual power 18.
- Demonstrated elements: Wind, earth, fire, water, ice, and space 20 21 23.
- First soul skill — Elemental Tide: Activated through her first yellow soul ring to manipulate elemental power 20.
- Ranged attacks: Produces wind blades, fireballs, stone pillars, and ground spikes 20.
- Defense and movement: Uses ice walls, Wind’s Lightness, and Earth’s Wave to resist attacks and maintain distance 20 21.
- Limit: Her wind cannot disperse Nine Li War Fog, which obstructs both her vision and spiritual perception 20.
Spatial Movement
- Teleports more than ten meters away to evade Lu Guan’s descending drill attack, revealing an ability she had previously concealed 20.
- Attempts further spatial escapes when pressured at close range 20 21.
- Limit: Lu Guan’s Shadow Trace gives her too little time to teleport, while Nightmare Lure later interrupts a spatial shift by manifesting her fear 20 21.
Elemental Fusion
- Combines wind, fire, earth, and water into an unstable four-colored orb resembling a blooming lotus 20.
- Its explosion devastates the training ground and wounds Lu Guan, but his injuries remain superficial 21.
- Naming: “Buddha’s Fury Fire Lotus” is Lu Guan’s comparison, not a confirmed formal name for her technique 20.
Water-Element Healing
- Heals Lu Guan’s visible wounds completely, leaving no scars after their duel 21.
- Removes elemental turbulence left in his meridians by the fusion explosion, preventing interference with later soul-power circulation 23.
Silver Dragon King Form
- Transforms into the Silver Dragon King to fight Tang San’s divine projection alongside Di Tian 45.
- Uses dragon-claw attacks and a seven-colored Elemental Storm against Tang Hao and Tang San’s projection 48.
- Limit: Tang Hao’s plane-powered strikes injure both her and Di Tian; he later breaks an opening through her storm 47 48.
Arrays and Bloodline Rituals
- Leads the spell that draws the sealed Golden Dragon King bloodline out of Tang Wulin, with Na’er continuing the extraction while she fights 45.
- Prepares a Killing Array that strips away nearby elements and slows Tang Hao’s access to plane power 47.
- Absorbs Na’er’s surrendered Silver Dragon King origin during the Blood Replacement Ritual 48.
- Limit: Tang Hao ultimately destroys the Killing Array through overwhelming force 47.
Spiritual Communication and Bloodline Sensing
- Communicates privately with Na’er through their shared spiritual connection and coordinates telepathically with Di Tian 23 46.
- Detects Na’er’s same-origin aura above Eastsea Academy before accepting Lu Guan’s challenge 19.
- Recognizes the Dragon God aura and proposes using close-range bloodline resonance to expose its concealed owner 50.
- Limit: Her search of Eastsea City finds no trace after Lu Guan conceals his aura through the Plane Origin 50 51.
Equipment / Items
- Leng Yaozhu’s crimson personal token — Identifies Gu Yue as the deputy pagoda master’s personal disciple; received during her formal acceptance ceremony 24.
Relationships
- Na’er — Her same-origin counterpart, later her senior sister under Leng Yaozhu. They dispute reunification and compete over Lu Guan, but cooperate to reclaim the Golden Dragon King bloodline. Na’er eventually transfers her Silver Dragon King origin to Gu Yue 23 24 29 45 48.
- Lu Guan — Defeats her in their first duel and becomes the focus of her admiration, curiosity, and planned manipulation. Unknown to her, he steals portions of both dragon bloodlines and creates the Dragon God blood she later hunts 21 29 49 50 52.
- Leng Yaozhu — Her master and institutional protector. Formally accepts Gu Yue as a personal disciple and encourages her to get along with Na’er 22 24 26.
- Di Tian — A subordinate who kneels before her, guards the extraction ritual, fights beside her, and shields her from Tang Hao 41 45 48.
- Tang Wulin — The human vessel from whom she and Na’er extract the Golden Dragon King bloodline; he is left critically weakened afterward 45 48.
- Tang San — An opponent whose protective projection intervenes in the extraction. Gu Yue later grudgingly acknowledges his ability when she believes he has prepared a fallback plan 45 59.
- Tang Hao — A plane-powered enemy whose attempt to seize the Douluo Plane’s origin alarms her; his attacks overwhelm her prepared array 46 47.
- Wu Changkong — Attempts to recruit her into Class Zero. She refuses to join without Lu Guan and instead becomes Leng Yaozhu’s disciple 22.
- Xu Ran — Welcomes her to the Lu family home for dinner during the search for the Dragon God aura 51.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Eastsea Academy Duel and Discipleship
- Na’er recruits Lu Guan to fight Gu Yue rather than risk losing to her herself 19.
- Gu Yue reveals spatial movement and elemental fusion, but loses when Nightmare Lure interrupts her escape 20 21.
- Their destructive duel attracts Wu Changkong’s recruitment attempt. Gu Yue follows Lu Guan’s refusal, then accepts Leng Yaozhu’s offer and formally enters her discipleship 22 24.
Humanity’s Captivity Plan
- Studies the Spirit Ascension Platform as a potential foundation for a complete artificial world where living beings can survive, reproduce, and evolve 29.
- Proposes confining humanity there indefinitely while reclaiming the real Douluo Continent for soul beasts 29.
- Wants Na’er’s cooperation to restore the Silver Dragon King’s full power; Na’er refuses to commit and challenges the plan’s morality and practicality 29.
- Intends to install Lu Guan as humanity’s ruler inside the new world and control resistance through him 29.
- Recognizes that human society depends on laws, hierarchy, public opinion, and competing rules—not simply the strongest individual’s authority—after observing Lu Guan’s handling of the Guang brothers 32.
Golden Dragon King Bloodline Extraction
- Delays extraction until she can prepare for Tang San’s seals and spiritual imprint 31.
- Conducts the ritual with Na’er and Di Tian, provoking intervention by Tang San’s projection and Tang Hao 45.
- Fights to prevent Tang Hao from fully merging with the plane origin, then deploys her prepared Killing Array 46 47.
- Receives Na’er’s Silver Dragon King origin while Na’er takes the golden bloodline. A blood-red ambusher steals portions of both before disappearing 48.
Pursuit of the Dragon God Aura
- Recognizes that the thief has fused the stolen bloodlines when Lu Guan releases the Dragon God aura above Eastsea City 49 50.
- Returns with Na’er to investigate, but fails to locate him and is brought to his home by Xu Ran without discovering his identity 50 51.
- Becomes increasingly suspicious of Lu Guan’s secrets and follows him on an evening walk 52.
- Later interprets Tang Sect activity as evidence of a fallback arranged by Tang San; the actual source of the aura remains unknown to her 59.
