| Feature | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | Megumi Fushiguro (伏黑惠) |
| Gender | Male |
| Affiliation | Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu High School 13 50 |
| Occupation/Role | First-year student and jujutsu sorcerer 13 28 |
| Status | Alive; traveling to Kyoto for the Goodwill Event 50 |
| First Appearance | Chapter 13, “The first day of school” 13 |
Appearance
- Hair: Black, spiky hair repeatedly compared to a sea urchin 13 15 25.
- Eyes: Green, also described as dark green or emerald 13 19 50.
- Clothing: A dark Jujutsu High uniform with a standing collar; he frequently keeps his hands in its pockets 13 14 16.
Personality
Megumi is reserved, blunt, and task-oriented. He redirects Yuji’s enthusiastic chatter toward practical matters and grows visibly uncomfortable with the attention Gojo and his classmates attract in Harajuku. He prefers keeping a low profile rather than participating in their public antics 14 15.
His caution includes respect for other people’s privacy. When sent to collect Feng, he notices the newcomer’s heavily sealed, unusually damp room but waits for a response before opening the door and avoids demanding an explanation 13.
Megumi expresses concern through practical help and risk assessment rather than effusive reassurance. He brings Feng breakfast, monitors his dangerous sparring session, and challenges Gojo’s decision to send a newcomer on a difficult solo mission. His objection is explicitly grounded in safety and tactical judgment, not jealousy 21 25.
He is also willing to acknowledge a classmate’s superior performance. After Feng defeats Mei Mei, Megumi admits to himself that he could not have maintained the same precise cursed-energy control under such pressure 24.
Abilities & Skills
Shadow Manipulation and Summoning
- During Feng’s spar with Mei Mei, the shadow beneath Megumi’s feet writhes and expands as he prepares to intervene. No summon is completed in that exchange 22.
- While badly injured at the detention center, he attempts to summon Mahoraga, holding its hand sign despite trembling fingers and depleted cursed energy. Feng intervenes before the attempt produces a summon 28.
Cursed-Energy Perception
- Examines the residue left after the Roppongi mission and concludes that the threat upstairs was more troublesome than the report indicated 19.
- Recognizes that Feng’s cursed-energy efficiency has improved by more than an order of magnitude during his fight with Mei Mei 23.
- Notices that ambient moisture appears to replenish Feng after severe cursed-energy depletion, unlike an ordinary sorcerer’s recovery 25.
Tactical Analysis
- Identifies Mei Mei’s baited opening and movement into Feng’s blind spot, then warns him about her crows’ shared vision and coordinated attack 22 23.
- Tracks Feng’s weapon loss and energy consumption, recognizing when a direct clash with Mei Mei could overwhelm him 23.
- Correctly anticipates that Mei Mei will change tactics after Feng destroys her aerial surveillance 24.
- Deduces that Feng’s rain can reposition targets marked by it, rather than functioning as a conventional spatial cursed technique 29.
- Explains the mission and resource restrictions imposed on unranked sorcerers, while recognizing that incomplete enemy intelligence can benefit a team 20.
Equipment / Items
- Cursed-tool pouch: Worn at his waist; he reaches for it when Feng’s sparring session becomes increasingly dangerous. Its contents are not identified 23.
- Plain crossbody bag: Carried during the journey to Kyoto 50.
Relationships
- Feng — Classmate. Megumi initially treats his unknown abilities cautiously, then gains considerable respect for his combat judgment. Feng later saves him from Sukuna at the detention center 16 24 28.
- Yuji Itadori — Classmate. Their contrasting temperaments are evident during the first-year group’s formation. Megumi remains beside Yuji during his apparent death, reassuring him that Nobara escaped safely 14 15 30.
- Satoru Gojo — Teacher. Megumi frequently criticizes his unreliability and challenges his risk-taking decisions. Gojo responds to his objections about Feng’s solo assignment by calling him a worrier and ruffling his hair 13 14 25.
- Nobara Kugisaki — Classmate. Their first meeting is abrasive: Nobara calls him an “arrogant, gloomy nerd,” while Megumi wants to leave the crowded station. They later join Yuji on the detention-center mission 15 28.
- Mei Mei — Gojo’s hired sparring instructor for Feng. Megumi respects her lethal efficiency but becomes alarmed when she begins treating the lesson as a serious fight 21 22 23.
Background / History
Welcoming the First-Year Class
Gojo assigns Megumi to escort the newly enrolled Feng to class, offering almost no explanation about the newcomer’s unusual accommodations. Along the way, Megumi explains the school’s barriers, warns him not to touch talisman-marked objects, and describes the shortage of sorcerers and the severe injury or death associated with their work 13.
He subsequently accompanies Gojo, Yuji, and Feng to Harajuku to collect Nobara. At the Roppongi field test, Megumi remains outside with Gojo while the other three enter the abandoned building. Afterward, he assesses the lingering cursed energy and helps the depleted Feng into the car 14 15 16 19.
Observing Feng’s Combat Training
Megumi watches Feng’s paid lesson with Mei Mei closely, warning him about her tactics and preparing to intervene. Feng’s eventual victory forces him to reassess the newcomer’s precision and ability to plan under pressure. Once the match is decided, Megumi urges him to release the blade held against Mei Mei’s throat 21 22 23 24.
When Gojo proposes a difficult solo placement test, Megumi recommends additional supervision or a second-year escort. He specifically warns that an unknown domain or unusual curse mechanism could leave Feng with too little room for error, even with strong tactics and large energy reserves 25.
Eishu Juvenile Detention Center
In July 2018, Megumi, Yuji, and Nobara lose contact with the authorities during a mission involving a cursed womb that develops into a special-grade curse. By Feng’s arrival, Megumi is bleeding, exhausted, and facing Sukuna, who has taken over Yuji’s body and removed its heart 28.
Feng interrupts Sukuna’s attack and uses his domain’s rain to evacuate Megumi and surviving civilians. Despite his injuries, Megumi moves the civilians farther from the battlefield so they will not hinder Feng 28 29.
After Yuji regains control, Megumi rushes to him but cannot prevent his death. He confirms Nobara’s safety before Yuji’s final farewell, then reports the detention-center events to Gojo 30.
Approaching the Goodwill Event
Yuji later revives, but Gojo keeps his survival secret until the Goodwill Event and plans a surprise reveal for Megumi and Nobara 31 32 49.
Before departing for Kyoto, Megumi checks Feng for lingering injuries and warns that the last-minute venue change gives Principal Yoshinobu Gakuganji greater control. He suspects the conservative leadership may regard Feng’s rapidly growing power as an unpredictable threat to eliminate 50.
Notable Quotes
“But within a team, that's actually a good thing. A gap in their intel is the best trump card.” 20
“If he encounters an unknown Cursed Spirit with a domain or some unusual mechanism during the mission, fighting alone leaves too little room for error.” 25
