Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Water-body constitution manifests 1 2 Mahito’s attacks release water rather than ordinary blood; separated portions can rejoin Feng, but damage consumes cursed energy and shrinks his body.
Rainfall domain awakens 3 Under pressure from Mahito, produces rain that suppresses cursed energy and restores his damaged body.
Sure-hit attacks and complete liquefaction 4 Shapes domain rain into unavoidable Water Blades, then dissolves his body and escapes with the domain’s moving cloud.
Domain Amplification / domain armor 9 10 Compresses his domain’s neutralizing and repelling properties around an arm, stripping the cursed energy from Yaga’s cursed corpse.
High-pressure water projection 17 Converts part of his body’s mass into a piercing water jet; the expenditure visibly thins him.
Official Grade 4 registration 20 Gojo deliberately understates his abilities in the school record, listing minute water control and poor hand-to-hand skills.
Improved cursed-energy efficiency 23 Stabilizes his energy into a controlled layer; Megumi judges that his efficiency has improved by more than an order of magnitude.
Residue control and revealing-one’s-technique binding vow 24 Collects scattered liquid and cursed residue into a blade at Mei Mei’s throat. The disclosure boost makes a few milliliters sufficient to threaten her reinforced body.
Successful individual assessment 26 27 Defeats a Semi-Grade 1 aquatic cursed spirit using a Water Blade and the replica Mikazuki Munechika; no rank promotion is stated here.
Official Semi-Grade 1 designation 32 Gojo warns that the higher-ups intend the designation as a pretext for closer surveillance.
Rudimentary Reverse Cursed Technique and stable Simple Domain 34 After two months of training, generates early positive energy and slowly heals a wound. His Simple Domain supports the high-pressure conditions needed for energy multiplication.
Water clones and body transfer 35 Creates sword-wielding clones and transfers his consciousness and true body through the rain; every clone can become his actual body.
Domain-condition changes and unnamed “clear skies” reversal 36 Alters the rain into cutting blades, restores his domain after Gojo’s Red, and combines positive energy refined by clones into a blast that wins the training round. The attack severely injures Feng too.
Self-assessed special-grade threshold 37 Recognizes that his strength has reached the threshold of special grade at sixteen. He has not received an official special-grade classification.
Limited external positive-energy output 39 Channels a small amount of positive energy through his sword into Kurourushi, explosively damaging the cursed spirit.
Black Flash 40 Lands a precisely timed Black Flash while maintaining Domain Expansion, badly damaging Kurourushi and disrupting its regeneration.
Domain Expansion: Jade-Pure Mists of the Five Turbidities 45 46 Uses Mahito’s enclosed barrier as a vessel for his own domain. Their clash cancels both sure-hit effects, but Feng’s construction remains dependent on Mahito’s barrier.
Technique recording and weak soul perception 49 Discovers that his domain washes away and records parts of enemy techniques. It can retain only one stolen technique at a time; he also gains a limited ability to perceive and strike souls.

Background / History

Arrival and Enrollment

Feng awakens in an abandoned building after remembering only that he had gone to bed in his original world. Recognizing Mahito, he flees before understanding his own water-based body. The pursuit forces him to awaken Rainfall and learn enough of its properties to escape into the mountain forest 1 2 3 4.

Gojo finds him rebuilding himself beside a river and brings him to Jujutsu High. Feng discovers that much of his knowledge of Jujutsu Kaisen has blurred or vanished; attempts to explain certain information leave him unable to speak, suggesting an unknown binding vow. He retains fragments of his previous life, including memories of a close friend and the deaths of most of his closest relatives 5 6 7 31.

Yaga questions whether curiosity and self-preservation are sufficient reasons to become a sorcerer. Feng’s calm interest in death prompts a physical test with Kawamaru. After Feng neutralizes the cursed corpse, Yaga admits him and orders special accommodations for his unstable constitution. Shoko’s examination establishes that ordinary medicine and Reverse Cursed Technique cannot heal him in the usual way 8 9 10 11.

First Missions and Combat Training

Feng joins Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara’s first-year group. During the Roppongi field test, he fights alongside Nobara, supplies a severed cursed-spirit limb for her Resonance, and helps rescue a hostage boy. He leaves the mission exhausted and dramatically reduced in size 13 14 16 17 19.

Gojo conceals his strength behind a Grade 4 registration and hires Mei Mei to address his weak physical combat and wasteful reinforcement. Feng wins their spar through precise liquid control and a binding-vow-assisted ambush rather than a direct contest of strength. He subsequently passes Gojo’s solo assessment by exorcising a Semi-Grade 1 aquatic cursed spirit 20 21 24 25 26 27.

Detention Center Rescue and Recovery

After completing a Grade 1 mission with Mei Mei, Feng responds to Ijichi’s emergency call from Eishu Juvenile Detention Center. He intervenes when Sukuna is about to kill the injured Megumi. Although his defenses initially weaken Sukuna’s slashes, the resulting injuries reveal that an opponent who understands his cursed-energy pattern can disrupt his liquefaction and harm him at the level of the soul 28 29 32.

Feng refuses to let Yuji blame himself for Feng’s decision to intervene. Rather than accept dependence on others, he requests dangerous Reverse Cursed Technique training. Gojo agrees, while warning that producing positive energy within Feng’s unusual body could cause catastrophic backlash 32 33.

Growth and Kurourushi

Intensive training develops Feng’s positive-energy control, Simple Domain, clones, and domain manipulation. His unnamed “clear skies” attack badly burns both him and Gojo. Gojo acknowledges the training-round victory but stresses that Feng needs a safer release method; Feng also recognizes that Gojo withheld several major techniques during their match 34 35 36 37.

With Gojo overseas, Feng encounters nine coordinated curse users at a water-treatment plant. He overwhelms their ambush, only for Kenjaku to escalate the test by releasing Kurourushi. During the ensuing battle, Feng removes unconscious enemies from danger, pursues Kurourushi through his domain, and ultimately destroys it by expanding compressed water inside its body. His sword becomes contaminated with Kurourushi’s technique, while Kenjaku chooses observation over an immediate confrontation 37 38 39 40 41.

Rematch with Mahito

At Satozakura High, Feng interrupts Mahito just before he can touch Junpei. He orders Yuji to evacuate Junpei and fights Mahito through an escalating exchange of rain attacks, cursed-tool strikes, Simple Domain, and Domain Expansion 42 43 44 45.

When their domains collapse, Feng exploits his immunity to technique burnout to pierce Mahito’s throat. Kenjaku secretly intercepts Feng’s finishing sword throw, allowing Mahito to escape. Too depleted to pursue safely, Feng returns to Yuji and Junpei, reassures Junpei, and suggests enrollment at Jujutsu High 46 47 48.

While recovering, Feng identifies the technique-recording function of his domain. Gojo temporarily seals the contaminated sword and tells him to rest before the approaching Goodwill Event 49.

Appearance

  • Hair and eyes: Long black hair, sometimes falling over his shoulders, and dark red eyes 6 8 14.
  • Build: Lean, slender, and well-proportioned, with refined features that Yuji compares to a television idol’s 6 14 17 21.
  • Skin and touch: Pale skin, long fair fingers, and an unusually cool touch likened to jade soaked in well water 14.
  • Clothing: Usually wears a dark blue Jujutsu High uniform jacket 12 14.
  • Variable size: Heavy cursed-energy expenditure reduces his mass and can leave him looking twelve or thirteen; sufficient water allows his older form to return 5 6 19.

Personality

Feng is initially frightened and disoriented, but becomes notably composed once he can assess a threat. His combat decisions favor observation, improvisation, and exploiting small openings. He is willing to discard weapons, change techniques, or accept injury when doing so creates a decisive advantage 1 22 24 45.

His desire to understand jujutsu extends beyond staying alive: he wants to discover his limits and live without regret. This can make him reckless in training. Against Mei Mei, he deliberately avoids relying on physical immunity because he believes doing so would prevent meaningful improvement 8 23.

Feng takes responsibility for his own choices and refuses to burden Yuji with guilt over his injuries. His protective instincts also extend beyond his classmates: he risks an opening to rescue unconscious curse users and offers Junpei reassurance and a path toward belonging after Mahito’s manipulation 25 28 32 39 48.

Abilities & Skills

Heavenly Restriction: Water-Based Body

Feng’s body is a concentrated structure of water and cursed energy rather than ordinary living tissue 9 11.

  • Liquefaction: Damaged areas can turn to water, disperse an attack, and reform. He can also dissolve his entire body 4 9 29.
  • Water-assisted restoration: Natural water, rain, and ambient moisture replenish his body and cursed energy 6 25 36 41.
  • No ordinary physiology: Shoko detects no pulse, blood pressure, or cellular activity 11.
  • Large reserves: His early reserves are estimated as roughly comparable to the energy in three of Sukuna’s fingers and are unusually pure 11.
  • No technique burnout: Domain collapse does not impose the usual cursed-technique recovery period, although exhaustion can still prevent another expansion 11 36 47.
  • Fatal vulnerabilities: Soul damage, evaporation, sealing, and complete cursed-energy depletion remain serious threats 9 11 32.

Innate Cursed Technique: Rainfall

Rainfall controls liquids infused with Feng’s cursed energy and uses rain to interfere with hostile cursed energy 12 24.

  • Shapes water into blades, spikes, needles, and high-pressure jets 4 17 24 44.
  • Tracks and reuses scattered moisture, mist, blood, and cursed residue for delayed attacks 24.
  • Reconstructs his body through water and enables rapid movement between water forms 35 42 44.
  • Can attack internally by turning an embedded arm into highly compressed water and expanding it inside a target 41.
  • Drawing attacks directly from his own body consumes mass; sustained high-output control can exhaust even his enormous reserves 17 35.

Domain Expansion

Feng’s early Rainfall domain is open, mobile, and visibly marked by a black rain cloud. Its rain sustains him while neutralizing hostile cursed energy 3 4.

  • Sure-hit Water Blades: Rain attacks track opponents and bypass ordinary evasion 4 35.
  • Technique suppression: The downpour interferes with Mahito’s transformations and neutralizes Gojo’s Limitless during training 3 34 35.
  • Water clones: Creates multiple armed bodies; Feng’s consciousness and true body can transfer among them 35.
  • Adjustable conditions: Changes the rain into cutting blades and rapidly restores the domain after disruption 36.
  • Jade-Pure Mists of the Five Turbidities: Builds his domain within Mahito’s enclosed barrier using the Fearlessness Mudra. The resulting clash cancels their sure-hit effects 45 46.
  • Limits: His early domain lacks enough output to overcome Mahito’s endurance quickly. Its incomplete suppression also cannot, by itself, neutralize another domain’s imbued sure-hit technique 4 44.

Technique Recording and Soul Perception

Feng later discovers that his domain’s droplets wash away and record portions of an opponent’s cursed technique, rather than merely suppressing them 49.

  • Can retain only one stolen technique at a time 49.
  • Gains a weak ability to perceive and strike souls after the Mahito rematch 49.
  • The acquired soul-related ability offers a way to harm Mahito directly; full mastery of Idle Transfiguration is not established 49.

Domain Amplification and Water Armor

Feng compresses his domain into a thin coating that retains neutralization and repulsion while removing its sure-hit effect 9 10.

  • Strips cursed energy from attacks, reinforcement, and cursed constructs 9 22.
  • Can coat his body or weapon and form dense heavy-water armor 22 24.
  • Neutralizes lingering curses from Kurourushi’s eggs 39.
  • Does not eliminate all physical momentum; sufficiently powerful blows can still knock him back or break his weapon 16 23 34.
  • Prevents simultaneous use of his own liquefaction technique while active. A technique already imbued into his domain can continue operating 29.

New Shadow Style: Simple Domain

Feng develops a stable Simple Domain during Gojo’s training and combines it with sword-drawing techniques 34 38.

  • Neutralizes Mahito’s sure-hit soul transfiguration within its protected area 44.
  • Stops cursed projectiles, disables explosive talismans, and cancels a terrain-altering technique 38.
  • Shreds approaching cursed insects and supports counterattack swordsmanship 38 39.
  • Can be damaged and broken; it does not prevent an opponent from attacking Feng physically 44 45.

Reverse Cursed Technique and Cursed Technique Reversal

Feng learns to generate positive energy despite the danger of doing so inside his cursed-energy body 33 34.

  • Limited positive-energy output: Channels positive energy through his sword to damage Kurourushi, but has not fully mastered projecting it outward 39.
  • Unnamed “clear skies” reversal: Combines positive energy refined by clones into an attack that evaporates his domain’s rain, burns Gojo, suppresses Gojo’s Reverse Cursed Technique, and slows his technique output 36.
  • Severe self-damage: The reversal burns Feng and interferes with the liquefaction on which his defense depends 36 37.
  • Unresolved safety problem: Gojo proposes an external cursed-tool medium or a binding vow to move Feng away from the release point; neither solution is confirmed as implemented 37.
  • Healing distinction: Shoko’s ordinary Reverse Cursed Technique cannot reconstruct his water body. His later self-generated positive energy nevertheless shows an early wound-healing effect during training 11 12 34.

Combat, Reinforcement, and Binding Vows

  • Cursed-energy concealment: Instinctively blends his presence with surrounding moisture, impressing Gojo 7.
  • Rapid control improvement: Replaces wasteful reinforcement with a smooth, closely controlled energy layer during Mei Mei’s lesson 21 23.
  • Swordsmanship: Uses precise cuts, New Shadow Style sword draws, and coordinated water attacks 27 38.
  • Revealing his technique: Repeatedly uses disclosure to establish a binding vow that increases attack output 24 47.
  • Black Flash: Lands the technique against Kurourushi while maintaining his domain 40.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Replica Mikazuki Munechika — Modified cursed-tool sword supplied by Gojo. Its crescent-shaped wounds continue spreading unless countered with Reverse Cursed Technique or concentrated cursed energy 26.
  • Contaminated Mikazuki Munechika — The same replica absorbs Kurourushi’s technique and becomes an unfinished special-grade cursed tool, developing a blood-red eye and corrosive black blood. Its backlash contaminates Feng’s hand; Gojo later temporarily seals it 41 43 46 49.
  • Hardwood staff — Used during Mei Mei’s lesson. After her axe breaks it, Feng turns a fragment into a cursed-energy-reinforced projectile 21 23.
  • Modified dormitory — A humid, barrier-protected room supplied with water tubs, spare uniforms, and continuously running water. Its containment measures are intended to protect him if his body loses cohesion 12 13.

Relationships

  • Satoru Gojo — Rescuer, teacher, and chief advocate. Arranges Feng’s admission, accommodations, training, and assessments, while shielding him from scrutiny by the higher-ups 5 10 25 32 49.
  • Masamichi Yaga — Principal who challenges Feng’s motives, tests him with Kawamaru, and ultimately admits him. Remains concerned about the survival risks of his constitution 8 9 10.
  • Shoko Ieiri — Medical examiner and adviser on his unusual body. Explains his healing limitations and warns him about the risks of producing positive energy 11 12 32 33.
  • Yuji Itadori — Friendly classmate whom Feng protects and reassures. Yuji assists with Junpei’s evacuation and helps the injured Feng seek medical care 14 32 43 48.
  • Megumi Fushiguro — Classmate whose initial caution develops into respect and protective concern. Guides Feng around school, watches his training, and objects to the risks of Gojo’s solo assessment 13 21 24 25.
  • Nobara Kugisaki — First-mission partner. Their complementary techniques defeat a curse, and they work together to rescue a hostage 16 17 19.
  • Mei Mei — Paid combat instructor and later mission partner. Recognizes Feng’s tactical talent, but treats training, danger, and collateral losses as financial matters 21 24 25 28.
  • Mahito — Recurring enemy and the first curse to hunt him. Feng escapes their initial encounter, then nearly kills him during the Satozakura rematch 1 4 42 47.
  • Junpei Yoshino — Saved from Mahito’s touch. Feng reassures him afterward and proposes Jujutsu High as a place to learn control and find support 42 48 49.
  • Kenjaku — Hidden observer who tests Feng with Kurourushi and later saves Mahito from Feng’s finishing attack. Regards Feng as an unpredictable threat to his plans 38 41 47.
