The group from Jujutsu High began discussing how to resolve their current predicament.
Gu Yanzhi spoke up, introducing himself to everyone from Jujutsu High. He said he had heard how troubled they were over dealing with Sukuna and would gladly join their team and lend a hand to repay them for saving his life.
The stranger's offer was met with silence.
Those around him who still did not know him looked skeptical, while Maki spoke up directly. "This battle is going to be incredibly dangerous. Our opponents are the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, and that thousand-year-old monster. You're a survivor we just picked up from inside the barrier. Are you sure you want to take part in a battle on this level?"
Before Gu Yanzhi could answer, Hajime Kashimo, who was leaning against the wall with his arms folded, shot the speaker a disdainful glance and spoke first. The bruises on his face had yet to fully fade, but his air of looking down on everyone remained undiminished. "This guy is a lot stronger than most of you."
Kinji Hakari was annoyed by Hajime Kashimo's attitude and was about to argue when Okkotsu stepped forward. He waved a hand, his voice gentle. "Having Mr. Gu join us is a very good thing. We're short on people right now, so let's not argue. Our first priority is to unseal Gojo-sensei, then discuss the specifics of our plan."
Everyone dispersed and began preparing for the unsealing.
They arrived at an open stretch of land outdoors, where the members of Jujutsu High stood scattered about.
Angel slowly rose into the air and activated the cursed technique. Jacob's Ladder unleashed a dazzling pillar of light onto the Back of the Prison Realm on the ground.
The pillar of light faded, but Satoru Gojo did not appear. Even the Back of the Prison Realm had vanished without a trace.
Everyone panicked, throwing out wild guesses.
"Did Angel's cursed technique erase Gojo-sensei along with it?"
Only Gu Yanzhi stood calmly to one side, silently watching the spot where the pillar of light had struck. Suddenly, he turned toward the distant sky, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly. "He's here."
A violent tremor came from far away. The ground began shaking, nearly knocking everyone off their feet. As the tremors gradually subsided, the same thought surfaced in everyone's mind-this was no coincidence. The strongest had returned.
Just as in the original story, the unsealed Satoru Gojo escaped from eight thousand meters beneath the sea, met Kenjaku and Sukuna, and set their battle for December 24. He then returned to Jujutsu High and informed everyone of the arrangement.
All of Jujutsu High immediately began preparing for the decisive battle.
In the training hall, Itadori was sparring with Kusakabe. Kusakabe threw a straight punch, and Itadori sidestepped it, seized his arm, and used his momentum to throw him to the ground. The movement was clean and crisp, without a single wasted motion.
Standing with one hand on his hip, Itadori said slowly, "It's about time, Yuji. Next up is Mr. Gu's theory lesson."
Kusakabe got up from the floor and brushed the dust off himself, looking a little tired.
Itadori and Kusakabe were using soul swapping to help Itadori learn barrier techniques and the New Shadow Style. After Gu Yanzhi revealed that he had once improved Hollow Wicker Basket and had an excellent grasp of barrier technique theory, Jujutsu High assigned him to teach Itadori alongside Kusakabe.
But Itadori was clearly a little worn out-Gu Yanzhi's instruction was good, certainly, but perhaps a little too good. Every topic was covered in excruciating detail, from the foundations of cursed energy circuits in barrier techniques to the principles behind his improvements to Hollow Wicker Basket, then on to how to neutralize a domain without forming hand signs. And since Gu Yanzhi had never properly worked as a teacher, there was no lively classroom interaction, only one dry point after another spilling out. It was boring as hell.
The theory lesson after each day's training was easily the part Itadori dreaded most. But to master barrier techniques and Simple Domain as soon as possible, and gain another edge against Sukuna in the coming decisive battle, he had to force himself to stay alert and listen.
Gu Yanzhi dragged over a blackboard and drew a series of cursed energy circuit diagrams in chalk. Itadori and Kusakabe had also switched back into their own bodies.
Seeing Gu Yanzhi ready to begin, Kusakabe immediately slipped away, his feet moving even faster than when he dodged attacks in battle. At first, he had wanted to sit in on the lessons with Itadori-after all, Gu Yanzhi had once improved Hollow Wicker Basket and could be considered the founding forefather of his school. Learning from his insights might greatly advance his own training.
But after sitting through one lesson, Kusakabe realized he could not endure this guy's classes at all. For three whole hours, Gu Yanzhi lectured from the microscopic structure of cursed energy circuits to the large-scale deployment of barriers, without a single break, analogy, or interaction. He was nothing more than a talking jujutsu textbook delivering a one-sided lecture. No human could sit through a class like that.
After three hours of theoretical instruction, Itadori emerged from the training hall with his back hunched, his eyes unfocused, and his steps unsteady, as though he had just fought a brutal battle.
The moment he saw sunlight in the corridor, he made his escape.
Gu Yanzhi ambled out and stretched, feeling quite pleased with himself.
"What a productive day!"
I can really feel how much my teaching has improved. Maybe I really am a born educator.
My two students-one is Mishima, who grasped the basics of coating himself in cursed energy after just a few hours of practice outside a convenience store, a bona fide jujutsu prodigy. The other is the future Heavenly Emperor Itadori. Tsk, tsk.
After loosening up his body, Gu Yanzhi went over to a vending machine and bought a can of cola to soothe his dry throat. As he walked down the corridor, he heard a hushed discussion coming from around the corner of the stairs.
He raised an eyebrow and approached with lighter steps-it was the group from Jujutsu High discussing their preparations for battle.
He leaned against the wall and listened for a while. The conversation centered on how to deal with Kenjaku.
They were discussing what to do if Kenjaku attacked while everyone was fighting Sukuna. Jujutsu High needed to send someone capable of eliminating the threat he posed.
Sitting on the stairs, Angel spoke in a clear, firm voice. "I recommend Takaba. Under certain conditions, his cursed technique has an almost unbeatable effect. If he can use it against Kenjaku-"
While Angel continued explaining the reasoning behind that recommendation, Gu Yanzhi stepped out from around the corner.
He crushed the empty cola can in his hand and casually tossed it into the nearby trash can.
Everyone turned to look at the man whose body was still wrapped in bandages, the scorch marks on his arms not yet fully faded.
Angel stopped speaking and looked at the newcomer.
Gu Yanzhi smiled, his tone calm and unhurried.
"I'll deal with Kenjaku."
