Ch. 21A Homegrown Yuta Okkotsu

Mishima Yuto learned that Gu Yanzhi had become a parasite attached to him inside a Culling Game barrier, and began learning to use Gu Yanzhi’s cursed energy and technique. Gu Yanzhi sent him to find Yuta Okkotsu at Sendai Stadium and ask him to kill Gu Yanzhi.

  • Gu Yanzhi explained that he had killed Mishima Yuto’s pursuers and attached himself to him, and Mishima remembered Xiaozhi.
  • Gu Yanzhi told Mishima that they were inside a Culling Game barrier and showed him the monsters outside the convenience store.
  • Gu Yanzhi taught Mishima to coat his body in cursed energy, and Mishima gradually managed to control it.
  • Mishima used Gu Yanzhi’s cursed technique and summoned a swarm of cockroaches, but recoiled and stopped.
  • Gu Yanzhi revealed that he was a bloodthirsty cursed spirit who could remain rational only inside Mishima, then told Mishima to find Yuta Okkotsu at Sendai Stadium and ask him to kill Gu Yanzhi.

Ch. 22The price of hot-blooded heroics

Gu Yanzhi weighed the benefits and dangers of remaining inside Mishima while the boy practiced cursed energy control. He decided they should find Okkotsu, whose strength might help them manage the situation.

  • Mishima insisted that he would keep acting as Gu Yanzhi’s vessel rather than abandon him.
  • Gu Yanzhi watched Mishima practice coating objects with cursed energy and considered using Mishima’s potential to grow stronger and earn causality points.
  • Gu Yanzhi weighed whether a binding vow or his dormant, injured body explained why he remained rational inside Mishima, and suspected the latter.
  • Gu Yanzhi considered how hosting a special grade cursed spirit could isolate Mishima and put him in danger, especially if they fought Sukuna.
  • Gu Yanzhi decided to find Okkotsu first and trust him to handle whatever happened.

Ch. 23The Familiar Sewer

Gu Yanzhi and Mishima traveled through the sewer to reach Dhruv Lakdawalla's territory without attracting his Shikigami. After surviving a brutal fight with a Cursed Spirit, Mishima awakened a fierce resolve and confronted the other spirits lurking nearby.

  • Gu Yanzhi had Mishima scout a route around Dhruv Lakdawalla's Shikigami, and the cockroaches found a path through the sewer.
  • Mishima reluctantly entered the sewer with Gu Yanzhi and prepared to face whatever waited inside.
  • A toad-like Cursed Spirit attacked Mishima, knocking him into the sewer wall and stirring terrible memories.
  • Mishima caught the Cursed Spirit's fist with his cursed-energy-coated hand while his cockroaches devoured its legs.
  • Mishima finished the Cursed Spirit with repeated punches, formed the Festering Life Sword, and roared at the other lurking spirits to get lost.

Ch. 24Reunion

Mishima fought through cursed spirits with Gu Yanzhi’s help and found Yamada among survivors sheltering beneath a bridge. When Yamada mentioned Mishima’s missing little brother Xiaozhi, Gu Yanzhi took control of Mishima’s body after sensing danger and confronted a Pterosaur-Type Cursed Spirit.

  • Mishima used his cursed energy and cockroaches to defeat a nimble cursed spirit, then followed a crowd toward the surface to search for Yuta Okkotsu.
  • Mishima emerged beneath a bridge where frightened survivors had gathered, and Yamada recognized him and hugged him back.
  • Mishima shared food and water with the survivors, then listened as Yamada described the chaos and mentioned the monk with stitches across his forehead.
  • Yamada asked whether Mishima’s little brother Xiaozhi had gone with the monk, and Gu Yanzhi warned Mishima that a fight was coming and took control of his body.
  • Gu Yanzhi armored himself with cockroaches, drew the Festering Life Sword, and faced a Pterosaur-Type Cursed Spirit hanging beneath the bridge.

Ch. 25Template ceiling: Yuta Okkotsu

Controlling Mishima's body, Gu Yanzhi fought Dhruv Lakdawalla's Shikigami and escaped their encirclement by revealing his Kurourushi manifestation. Yuta Okkotsu arrived in the Sendai Colony, destroyed a giant rodent Shikigami, and called for Rika.

  • Gu Yanzhi used a swarm of cockroaches to isolate and kill a pterosaur Shikigami with the Festering Life Sword.
  • Gu Yanzhi tried to attack another pterosaur but was wounded when it revealed its true speed and joined the others.
  • Dhruv Lakdawalla's pterosaur and rodent Shikigami closed in to form an encirclement around Gu Yanzhi.
  • Gu Yanzhi manifested Kurourushi's enormous arms and wings, forcing a way through the Shikigami ring.
  • Yuta Okkotsu arrived and destroyed the giant rodent Shikigami, then called out to Rika.

Ch. 26Confession

Yuta Okkotsu rescued the people beneath the bridge and agreed to help Mishima and Gu Yanzhi deal with Gu’s growing bloodlust rather than kill him immediately. As Okkotsu went to confront Dhruv Lakdawalla, a pink-haired woman suddenly appeared above Mishima and attacked.

  • Okkotsu and Rika crushed several pterosaur shikigami, and Okkotsu used Cursed Speech to destroy others before the survivors fled to Sendai Gymnasium.
  • Okkotsu reassured the terrified civilians beneath the bridge and told them to stay hidden while he went after Dhruv Lakdawalla.
  • Gu Yanzhi told Mishima that his body was waking up and asked Mishima to let Okkotsu kill him if he went berserk.
  • Mishima asked Okkotsu to kill Gu, but Okkotsu chose to help them and explained how his teacher had helped him and Rika solve a similar problem.
  • After Okkotsu left to deal with Dhruv Lakdawalla, Mishima confessed his guilt over abandoning his little brother Xiaozhi and said he wanted to choose the right path this time.
  • A pink-haired woman appeared upside down above Mishima and attacked him with Thin Ice Breaker.

Ch. 27Uro vs. Gu Yanzhi

Gu Yanzhi fought Takako Uro while shielding the unconscious Mishima, using his cockroach swarm and a feigned weakness to gain the advantage. As Uro countered his repeated attack and threatened to destroy his arm, an unknown figure emerged from the swarm with the Festering Life Sword.

  • Gu Yanzhi shielded the unconscious Mishima from Uro's attack and protected him with cursed energy.
  • Gu Yanzhi revealed his and Uro's cursed techniques, then used his cockroach swarm to disrupt her Sky Manipulation.
  • Gu Yanzhi tricked Uro into underestimating his strength and punched her through several buildings.
  • Gu Yanzhi surrounded Uro with cockroaches and continued attacking, but Uro redirected his sword and targeted his fist with Thin Ice Breaker.
  • A figure leaped from the swarm, caught the Festering Life Sword, and called for Gu Yanzhi to act.

Ch. 28Forward

Mishima faced the guilt of fleeing when the Swimmers killed his younger brother, Xiaozhi, and pushed through a deadly cockroach swarm to help Gu Yanzhi fight Uro. Mishima caught the Festering Life Sword and called for Gu Yanzhi to strike, leaving Uro trapped between their attacks.

  • Mishima relived Xiaozhi's death and was confronted by a cursed spirit shaped like his brother, who blamed him for running away.
  • Mishima apologized to Xiaozhi and admitted he had been terrified and cowardly.
  • Mishima saw Gu Yanzhi and Uro fighting inside a tornado of cockroaches and ran toward them despite his wounds.
  • Mishima forced his way through the swarm and caught the Festering Life Sword as Uro knocked it away.
  • Mishima urged Gu Yanzhi to attack, trapping Uro between Gu Yanzhi's incoming fist and the Festering Life Sword.

Ch. 29Overwhelming Force

Uro expanded her domain and battered Gu Yanzhi with a barrage of Thin Ice Breakers, leaving him seemingly dead. As Uro prepared to dismiss her domain, a swarm of cockroaches shattered its barrier, and a familiar voice announced its hunger for iron.

  • Uro expanded All-Enveloping Garbhadhatu, trapping Gu Yanzhi, Mishima, and the cockroach swarms inside her domain.
  • Uro used her domain's control over space to crush the cockroaches and attack Gu Yanzhi with Thin Ice Breakers.
  • Gu Yanzhi figured out that Uro's attacks were not true sure-hits and dodged one, but Uro overwhelmed him with a barrage.
  • Uro approached Gu Yanzhi's ruined body as he whispered, "I'm going on ahead. Give it your best."
  • Uro prepared to dismiss her domain, but a massive cockroach swarm broke through its barrier and a familiar voice cried, "I... I like the taste of iron!!"

Ch. 30Those compound eyes left no room for doubt

Kurourushi returned after Gu Yanzhi’s death and nearly killed Uro, whose Cursed Technique was still burned out. Okkotsu arrived in time to save her and faced the mindless Cursed Spirit, knowing Gu Yanzhi was truly gone.

  • Kurourushi emerged from the insect swarm after Gu Yanzhi’s body disintegrated, revealing that its offspring had inherited its cursed energy while Gu Yanzhi’s consciousness died.
  • Kurourushi overwhelmed Uro with a swarm, severed her left arm with the Festering Life Sword, and battered her into a ruined wall.
  • Uro cut away flesh containing insect eggs, then collapsed as Kurourushi approached to deliver a final blow.
  • Okkotsu arrived with a wounded child, drove back the swarm, and promised to heal Uro in exchange for her points.
  • Okkotsu called out to Kurourushi, but the Cursed Spirit attacked without recognizing Gu Yanzhi, and Okkotsu apologized before confronting it.

Ch. 31Mechanics or Raw Stats

After reviewing his brief life as Kurourushi, Gu Yanzhi received no causality points and chose to add a special grade cursed spirit’s cursed energy reserves to his inheritance bank. He then began another transmigration.

  • Gu Yanzhi reflected on his fight with Uro and recognized his inexperience and inability to reliably counter domain expansions.
  • The system awarded Gu Yanzhi no causality points because his actions had not meaningfully changed the main plot.
  • Gu Yanzhi considered the offered physique, cursed energy, and cockroach cursed technique, then chose cursed energy for its broad usefulness.
  • The system added the special grade cursed spirit’s cursed energy reserves to Gu Yanzhi’s inheritance bank alongside his accumulated physique.
  • Gu Yanzhi selected transmigration and lost consciousness as golden light swallowed the System Space.

Ch. 32The Culling Game Through an Incarnated Sorcerer's Eyes

A stitched sorcerer who had once taught Little Three studied medical texts in Tokyo No. 2 Colony before defeating a corpse-manipulating player. He meant to spare her to avoid becoming a target, but she died when her head struck his fist.

  • In a flashback, Little Three confessed he had not mastered Reverse Cursed Technique or Domain Expansion, and his master promised he had a plan.
  • In Tokyo No. 2 Colony, the stitched sorcerer studied medical texts and confronted a woman who controlled corpse puppets.
  • The sorcerer used Cursed Speech and his blade to freeze the woman and her puppets, then severed her limbs.
  • He explained that he would spare the woman to avoid attracting powerful players, but planned to permanently deprive her of thought.
  • A sudden gust accelerated his punch, and the woman's head burst against his fist.

Ch. 33Back to the Culling Game

Gu Yanzhi awakened in the Culling Game in the body of a former disciple of Kenjaku, inheriting the Object Manipulation technique and knowledge of barrier techniques. After Hajime Kashimo made all Swimmer information public, Gu Yanzhi realized he could become a target and decided to flee.

  • Gu Yanzhi awoke beside a headless corpse and learned that he had earned five points as a Swimmer in the Culling Game.
  • He absorbed the original owner's memories, discovering that the man had been Kenjaku's disciple and was skilled in jujutsu theory but weak in combat.
  • Gu Yanzhi tested Object Manipulation and deployed the original owner's modified Hollow Wicker Basket barrier.
  • The Kogane announced that Hajime Kashimo had added a rule making all Swimmer information public.
  • Gu Yanzhi recognized that Kashimo might hunt him and decided to get out of the colony.

Ch. 34The art of making a getaway

Gu Yanzhi cleaned up the library after his fight and headed away from Hajime Kashimo, planning to lie low until he could meet Kinji Hakari. He encountered Charles in a café and tried to give the despondent manga artist a reason to keep going, leaving Charles asking him about his favorite work.

  • Gu Yanzhi removed the Perception Barrier, collapsed the Amplification Barrier, and erased the Cursed Energy traces from the library.
  • Gu Yanzhi avoided Hajime Kashimo and set out toward the Abandoned Amusement Park to wait for Kinji Hakari.
  • Gu Yanzhi found Charles alone in a café and learned that he had lost the will to fight after his manga work was rejected.
  • Gu Yanzhi sat with Charles, listened to him talk about manga, and introduced himself as a fellow manga fan.
  • Charles asked Gu Yanzhi what his favorite work was, and Gu Yanzhi answered, "Jujutsu Kaisen."

Ch. 35Triggered

Gu Yanzhi fought Charles after Charles became enraged over their different manga tastes, then knocked him unconscious without killing him. As Gu Yanzhi carried Charles back toward the café, Hajime Kashimo arrived and destroyed it, demanding that Gu Yanzhi discard Charles and fight.

  • Charles attacked Gu Yanzhi with his Paintbrush Cursed Tool after learning Gu Yanzhi preferred Jujutsu Kaisen over The Unfinished Canvas.
  • Charles explained that his cursed technique let him predict opponents’ movements by drawing panels, while Gu Yanzhi worried that releasing too much cursed energy would attract Hajime Kashimo.
  • Gu Yanzhi exploited the limits of Charles’s vision-based technique, then struck Charles unconscious with the back of his blade after raising an improved Hollow Wicker Basket.
  • Gu Yanzhi decided not to kill Charles and carried him toward the café, hoping Charles might help him meet Kinji Hakari.
  • Hajime Kashimo descended from the sky, destroyed the café, and ordered Gu Yanzhi to dump Charles and fight.

Ch. 36Hajime Kashimo vs. Gu Yanzhi

Gu Yanzhi fought Hajime Kashimo, who refused to accept his offer to reveal Sukuna’s location and pressed him with overwhelming speed and lightning. Badly wounded, Gu Yanzhi unleashed his Domain Expansion, Court of Ten Thousand Treasured Arms, trapping them both inside a black barrier.

  • Hajime Kashimo attacked Gu Yanzhi immediately after introducing himself, and Gu Yanzhi offered to reveal Sukuna’s location in exchange for avoiding a fight.
  • Hajime Kashimo rejected the deal and smashed Gu Yanzhi away, but Gu Yanzhi used his cursed technique to send broken blade fragments into Kashimo’s face.
  • Gu Yanzhi recognized that Kashimo’s charged lightning attacks could track him, so he used a modified Hollow Wicker Basket and Object Manipulation to evade and counterattack with debris.
  • Hajime Kashimo broke free of Gu Yanzhi’s restraint, dodged the incoming debris, and struck Gu Yanzhi with lightning that left him severely burned.
  • As Hajime Kashimo prepared to finish him, Gu Yanzhi activated Domain Expansion: Court of Ten Thousand Treasured Arms, enclosing them both in a black barrier.

Ch. 37The Outcome Was Decided

Gu Yanzhi used his incomplete domain to batter Hajime Kashimo and force him into the sea, where Kashimo’s stored Cursed Energy exploded. Both survived the blast but were left exhausted, and they called the fight a draw.

  • Gu Yanzhi trapped Hajime Kashimo with Court of Ten Thousand Treasured Arms, but Kashimo’s Hollow Wicker Basket failed to stop the sure-hit effect.
  • Gu Yanzhi repeatedly punched Kashimo while restraining him, burning and breaking his hands as Kashimo poured Cursed Energy into lightning to overcome the restraints.
  • Gu Yanzhi kicked Kashimo out of the domain, which had moved their location above the harbor, and Kashimo fell into the sea as the domain collapsed.
  • Kashimo’s Cursed Energy discharged in the seawater, causing a massive explosion, but he clambered ashore alive.
  • Gu Yanzhi and Kashimo, both exhausted, lay beside a shipping container and agreed to call the fight a draw.
  • Gu Yanzhi joked that he would forget Kashimo, prompting Kashimo to react in shock.

Ch. 38Unconscious

After Hajime Kashimo left him near death, Gu Yanzhi woke in Jujutsu High’s infirmary and learned that Angel had awakened. He joined the others as they gathered for the coming battle against Sukuna.

  • Gu Yanzhi lost consciousness after his fight with Hajime Kashimo, who said he had saved his one-use technique for Sukuna.
  • Gu Yanzhi woke in the infirmary, where Shoko Ieiri had treated his wounds, and found Panda and Kinji Hakari reacting to his appearance.
  • Yuta Okkotsu announced that Angel had awakened, prompting Shoko, Panda, Kinji Hakari, and Okkotsu to hurry out.
  • Gu Yanzhi learned he had been unconscious for five or six days and worried that the story had progressed while he missed chances to earn causality points.
  • Gu Yanzhi followed Kinji Hakari and Panda to a gathering, where Yuji Itadori entered and Gu Yanzhi welcomed the coming Sukuna battle.

Ch. 39I'll Deal with Kenjaku

Gu Yanzhi joined Jujutsu High, helped teach Itadori barrier techniques, and offered to handle Kenjaku in the coming battle. The chapter ended with preparations underway for the fight against Sukuna and Kenjaku.

  • Gu Yanzhi offered to join Jujutsu High's team, and Okkotsu accepted his help as they prepared to unseal Gojo.
  • Angel used Jacob's Ladder on the Back of the Prison Realm, but it vanished without Gojo appearing; Gu Yanzhi sensed Gojo's return.
  • Gojo escaped from beneath the sea, met Kenjaku and Sukuna, and set their battle for December 24.
  • Gu Yanzhi taught Itadori barrier techniques and the New Shadow Style, while Kusakabe left after finding the lectures unbearable.
  • Angel recommended Takaba to deal with Kenjaku, but Gu Yanzhi stepped forward and said he would handle Kenjaku.

Ch. 40The Finisher

Gu Yanzhi secured the role of finishing off Kenjaku, then left during the Shinjuku battle while the others watched Satoru Gojo die and Hajime Kashimo rush to fight Sukuna. The chapter ended with an assistant supervisor revealing that Gu Yanzhi had attacked Jujutsu High Headquarters instead of going after Kenjaku.

  • Gu Yanzhi argued that his telekinetic abilities and Barrier Techniques made him the best choice to contain Kenjaku’s Cursed Spirits, and the group assigned him to deliver the finishing blow while Takaba distracted Kenjaku and Okkotsu faced Sukuna.
  • Gu Yanzhi reflected that Jujutsu High distrusted him because of his past identity and the original owner’s human experiments.
  • As Jujutsu High watched Gojo’s battle against Sukuna through Mei Mei’s crows, Gu Yanzhi left to take down Kenjaku and wondered whether sparing him might earn more causality points.
  • Gojo’s Hollow Purple badly wounded Sukuna, but Sukuna’s slash had cut Gojo in half, and Hajime Kashimo rushed to the battlefield.
  • An assistant supervisor reported that Gu Yanzhi had not gone after Kenjaku and had instead attacked Jujutsu High Headquarters.
