Ch. 21Establishing a Binding Vow

Sakurada Niji explained Kenjaku’s plan to the Jujutsu High group, and they made a binding vow to keep their knowledge of the future secret until Kenjaku was dead. A year later, Niji challenged Satoru Gojo to a fight and unveiled his Domain Expansion, Stillness of All Things.

  • Sakurada Niji told Suguru Geto, Masamichi Yaga, and the others that Kenjaku needed Geto’s body to carry out his plan, and they agreed not to discuss the future until Kenjaku was dead.
  • Toji Fushiguro took Riko Amanai and Kuroi overseas to search for Yuki Tsukumo, while Shoko reported that Riko and Toji had died.
  • In August 2007, Satoru Gojo demonstrated that he could automatically maintain Limitless and quickly use Blue and Red, while Shoko and Suguru Geto teased him with a video.
  • Sakurada Niji accepted Satoru Gojo’s challenge and used Space-Severing Lines to hinder Gojo’s teleportation and confine him during their fight.
  • Sakurada Niji expanded his Domain, Stillness of All Things, by connecting his scattered lines and filling the space between them with cursed energy.

Ch. 22Domain Expansion

Sakurada Niji trapped Satoru Gojo in his incomplete Domain Expansion but ran out of cursed energy before he could act, leaving both of them unconscious or defeated in different ways. Days later, Niji woke to a prank, learned Satoru had hidden the Inverted Spear of Heaven, and reflected on the power of his domain.

  • Suguru Geto and Shoko explained how Sakurada Niji had prepared the framework for his incomplete domain, which froze Satoru Gojo and everything else inside it.
  • Sakurada Niji approached the frozen Satoru Gojo with the Inverted Spear of Heaven, but ran out of cursed energy and collapsed before he could mark him.
  • Shoko examined Niji and confirmed he would recover after a few days, while Suguru Geto told Satoru that Niji's domain had trapped him for about ten seconds.
  • Satoru Gojo discovered Niji had the Inverted Spear of Heaven and carried the unconscious Niji inside, while Shoko and Suguru Geto kept quiet about what they knew.
  • A few days later, Satoru Gojo and Shoko startled Niji with a prank, and Niji discovered he had been dressed in Riko Amanai's old outfit.
  • Satoru Gojo said he had given the Inverted Spear of Heaven to Mr. Yaga for safekeeping, and Niji decided he had won their last match because his domain could control motion and acceleration.

Ch. 23A Duel for Dignity

After Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto wore maid outfits for a shopping punishment, Yu Haibara and Kento Nanami arrived with a mission involving a Grade 2 Ubusunagami. Suguru Geto suspected the mission was a deliberate setup, so he and Sakurada Niji followed the first-years while Satoru Gojo investigated who assigned it.

  • Shoko produced outfits for Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, who changed into women’s clothing and posed for her camera.
  • Yu Haibara and Kento Nanami arrived, and Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto asked them to judge their appearances.
  • Kento Nanami and Yu Haibara left for a village mission involving a Grade 2 Ubusunagami.
  • Suguru Geto suspected the mission had been deliberately arranged, and Sakurada Niji joined him in following the first-years.
  • Satoru Gojo left to investigate who issued the mission, while Shoko agreed to alert Masamichi Yaga and watch for anything unusual.
  • Sakurada Niji and Suguru Geto rode the Rainbow Dragon and tracked Yu Haibara and Kento Nanami with a cursed spirit.

Ch. 24"Ubusunagami"

Kento Nanami and Yu Haibara investigated a mountain village overrun by cursed spirits and discovered the powerful Ubusunagami. As Yu Haibara distracted it, Nanami moved to attack its flank.

  • Yu Haibara questioned Kento Nanami about his ambitions, while Nanami said he planned to save money and retire.
  • Nanami and Haibara reached the silent village, found no cursed energy at first, and then detected a dense concentration of cursed residue ahead.
  • Cursed spirits emerged from the gravestones, and Nanami fought them while Haibara destroyed the gravestones producing them.
  • A huge doglike cursed spirit covered in human remains burst from the ground, and Nanami identified it as the Ubusunagami.
  • Haibara charged to distract the Ubusunagami, while Nanami ran toward its flank to wait for an opening to strike.

Ch. 25Conviction

Yu Haibara and Kento Nanami fought the special-grade Ubusunagami until both were exhausted, then Sakurada Niji and Suguru Geto arrived to rescue them. After putting the two juniors to rest, Sakurada Niji trapped the cursed spirit in his completed domain and prepared to finish it.

  • Kento Nanami severed the Ubusunagami's apparent head with his Ratio Technique, but its true head emerged from its tail and left him facing the still-moving spirit alone.
  • Yu Haibara recovered enough to protect Kento Nanami from the skeletal cursed spirits, and the two stood back-to-back, resolved to keep fighting.
  • Rainbow Dragon descended with Sakurada Niji and Suguru Geto, and Yu Haibara and Kento Nanami collapsed after seeing their upperclassmen arrive.
  • Suguru Geto put Yu Haibara to sleep and summoned cursed spirits to guard both juniors while he explained the Ubusunagami's structure to Sakurada Niji.
  • Sakurada Niji immobilized the Ubusunagami, then used Domain Expansion—Stillness of All Things to envelop it in his completed domain.

Ch. 26Undercurrents

Sakurada Niji and his allies discovered that Kenjaku had used Sukuna’s Finger to turn Ubusunagami into a special grade curse, putting their plans off course. They decided to adapt and prepare to display their strength at the upcoming Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event to deter Kenjaku and the Jujutsu Association’s higher-ups.

  • Sakurada Niji defeated Ubusunagami with his Domain Expansion, then found Sukuna’s Finger where the curse had vanished.
  • Sakurada Niji gave the finger to Suguru Geto, and they returned to Jujutsu High with Yu Haibara and Kento Nanami.
  • Shoko told Yu Haibara that his surgery had succeeded and that Kento Nanami was resting in his dorm.
  • Masamichi Yaga, Satoru Gojo, Sakurada Niji, Suguru Geto, and Shoko concluded that Kenjaku was behind the attack and agreed to adapt as the story changed.
  • Masamichi Yaga ordered the group to attend the Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event with Nanami and Haibara and show their full strength to deter Kenjaku.

Ch. 27Kyoto Sister School Goodwill Event

At the Tokyo-hosted Goodwill Event, Sakurada Niji and the others prepared to face Kyoto’s students, while Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto mocked Principal Gakuganji. Naoya Zenin chose Sakurada as his opponent, and their match began with Naoya using Projection Sorcery.

  • Sakurada Niji explained that the first-years could earn Grade 1 recommendations by standing out at the event, and Satoru Gojo promised to help Yu Haibara learn about Blood Manipulation.
  • Yoshinobu Gakuganji arrived with the Kyoto students, including Utahime Iori and Naoya Zenin, and Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto taunted him.
  • Masamichi Yaga and Yoshinobu Gakuganji agreed that Kyoto’s students could challenge Tokyo’s students one at a time, with the winner staying in the arena.
  • Naoya Zenin chose Sakurada Niji as his opponent, believing him to be the weakest of Tokyo’s three Special Grades.
  • Masamichi Yaga started the match, and Naoya Zenin vanished using Projection Sorcery.

Ch. 28Duel

Sakurada Niji defeated Naoya Zenin by evading his Projection Sorcery with Flash Walk and stopping his final charge with a modified Simple Domain. After Naoya conceded, Niji invited him to spar and offered to teach him, hoping to guide him toward becoming a better person.

  • Niji used Flash Walk to evade Naoya's repeated preset attacks, while Shoko explained how the spatial movement technique worked to the spectators.
  • As his cursed energy dwindled, Naoya retreated and launched a faster final charge, but Niji's modified Simple Domain automatically struck him with a supersonic sword swing.
  • Niji pinned Naoya in place and asked him to concede, and Naoya admitted defeat after failing to land a hit.
  • Seeing Naoya become despondent, Niji apologized for taunting him and offered to spar with him and teach him Flash Walk after he healed.
  • Naoya questioned whether Niji was a hopeless do-gooder.

Ch. 29Boy makeover in progress

Sakurada Niji defeated the Kyoto School students and used the training session to help Yu Haibara and Kento Nanami improve their fighting and cursed techniques. He left Nanami exhausted but more precise, while Gojo and Geto discussed how Niji’s approach to Domain Expansion might help other sorcerers.

  • Sakurada Niji defeated the Kyoto School students and asked Masamichi Yaga to let his own students train against him.
  • Sakurada Niji sparred with Yu Haibara, identified how Haibara’s blood-flow technique could be used more effectively, and offered to teach him footwork alongside Geto and Gojo’s instruction.
  • Kento Nanami attacked Sakurada Niji with his wrapped blade, and Niji used cursed-energy lines to block Nanami’s slashes without risking his expensive weapon.
  • Nanami broke through some of Niji’s lines with his Critical Hit technique, while Gojo and Geto observed his remaining cursed energy and discussed his potential to learn Domain Expansion.
  • Sakurada Niji ended the spar and praised Nanami’s improved precision and reactions, suggesting that he practice without his glasses.

Ch. 30The strongest vs. the strongest

Sakurada Niji rested instead of fighting Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, who began a battle between the strongest at the Training Ground. Gojo destroyed Geto’s domain and revealed a new Blue technique that trapped Geto in the air, leaving their fight poised for its next move.

  • Sakurada Niji withdrew to recover his cursed energy, convincing Naoya Zenin that he was honoring the unspoken respect between strong fighters.
  • Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto entered the Training Ground and agreed not to kill Geto’s special grade cursed spirits.
  • Geto attacked Gojo with Playful Cloud, then trapped him in Smallpox Hag’s domain and used another cursed spirit to create an opening for a strike.
  • Gojo healed his injury with Reverse Cursed Technique and destroyed Smallpox Hag’s domain with Purple.
  • Geto rode Rainbow Dragon into the sky, but Gojo surrounded him with Orbiting Stars, a new technique that made Blue instances track and attract him.

Ch. 31The outcome was decided

Gojo defeated Geto, and Geto confronted his resentment about no longer being part of the strongest duo before resolving to focus on improving himself. Niji’s special-grade fight against Gojo ended when Gojo destroyed Niji’s Domain Expansion with Purple, leaving Niji unconscious and the Tokyo students heading back to the dormitories.

  • Gojo defeated Geto, who admitted he had no way to win, while Gakuganji judged Gojo and Geto to be special grade and questioned Niji’s strength.
  • Geto felt anxious and resentful that Gojo was now the strongest alone, but Niji helped him recognize that Gojo valued their friendship for more than strength, and Geto resolved to improve himself.
  • Niji fought Gojo in the air, using Space-Severing Lines and Flash Step while Gojo countered with Orbiting Stars, Blue, and Red.
  • Niji trapped Gojo in Domain Expansion: Stillness of All Things, but Gojo combined Blue and Red into Purple and destroyed the domain from outside.
  • Gojo carried the unconscious Niji away as Shoko and Utahime followed, while Gakuganji led the Kyoto students down the mountain and Naoya reflected on his clan’s rules.

Ch. 32Special Grade

Sakurada Niji, Satoru Gojo, and Suguru Geto were promoted to special grade and assigned areas of Tokyo to clear of dangerous cursed spirits. After joking around and learning they would travel to missions by car, the three left together, while Geto imagined a future where their jujutsu sorcerer family could grow stronger and suffer fewer losses.

  • Sakurada Niji woke in women's clothes, escaped the dorm in shock, and joined Shoko, Utahime, and Suguru Geto in teasing Satoru Gojo over fake stitches drawn on his forehead.
  • Sakurada Niji suggested that Satoru Gojo cut off the skin on his forehead to prove his identity, but Masamichi Yaga arrived and stopped the prank.
  • Masamichi Yaga announced that Sakurada Niji, Satoru Gojo, and Suguru Geto had been promoted to special grade and assigned Tokyo districts to patrol for grade-one and higher cursed spirits.
  • Sakurada Niji worried about getting carsick on missions, while Satoru Gojo hoped to use his new long-distance teleportation technique and Suguru Geto explained that the Jujutsu Association would need to assess it.
  • Satoru Gojo dodged Sakurada Niji's attempted retaliation, and Suguru Geto imagined the three of them protecting and helping their fellow sorcerers.

Ch. 33The disappearance case

Sakurada Niji investigated a missing-train incident at Maenocho Station, where a Grade 1 cursed spirit had created a station based on the Kisaragi Station urban legend. The chapter ended as Konno Yoshiko heard footsteps outside the security office where she was hiding.

  • Sakurada Niji received details from the Assistant Supervisor about a train that vanished after passing Maenocho Station and returned empty the next morning.
  • The Assistant Supervisor raised a Curtain while Sakurada Niji entered the station, where the surroundings shifted into a dark, deserted version of the same place.
  • Sakurada Niji sensed cursed energy near the station's security office and approached it.
  • Konno Yoshiko recounted how her train ran for hours through darkness before stopping at an empty station, where she became stranded with a couple.
  • After the couple left to walk along the tracks and never returned, Konno Yoshiko hid under the security-office desk until footsteps approached.

Ch. 34Trapped in a Loop

Sakurada Niji found Konno Yoshiko trapped beneath a desk and took her with him as he investigated the domain’s looping paths. After working out how the space shifted between day and night, he triggered its collapse and sensed two enormous sources of cursed energy beside three faint traces.

  • Sakurada Niji found Konno Yoshiko beneath a desk and helped her stand, and she asked to accompany him.
  • Sakurada Niji and Konno Yoshiko followed the route through the domain as he counted steps and realized the station remained nearby despite their long walk.
  • Sakurada Niji noticed that the route changed with the time of day, then returned to the station and ran forward to test his theory.
  • Sakurada Niji found the unconscious couple, left marks along the path, and ran in one direction during the day.
  • The space collapsed as night returned, and Sakurada Niji sensed two enormous masses of cursed energy beside three faint traces.

Ch. 35The earth's fury

Sakurada Niji fought Jogo while Hanami held three hostages to prevent him from contacting allies or using his Domain Expansion. After Jogo’s Domain nearly cooked him alive, Niji landed a decisive slash, and seeing the man Jogo tortured awakened his Reverse Cursed Technique.

  • Sakurada Niji found Jogo and Hanami at the station, where Hanami guarded Konno Yoshiko and two unnamed people while Jogo attacked him.
  • Sakurada Niji evaded Jogo’s flames and Ember Insects, but Hanami’s mental warnings prevented him from calling for help or expanding his domain.
  • Sakurada Niji used New Shadow Style Maximum Iaijutsu to badly wound Jogo, but Jogo recovered and trapped him inside Coffin of the Iron Mountain.
  • Sakurada Niji dropped his defensive stance, endured the heat, and beheaded Jogo with an overcharged Godspeed slash, causing the domain to collapse.
  • Hanami reattached Jogo’s head, and Jogo ordered Hanami to bring the hostages over before roasting the unnamed man in front of Sakurada Niji.
  • Sakurada Niji’s Reverse Cursed Technique awakened, and he rose to treat the burning man.

Ch. 36Let's Talk

Sakurada Niji used his newly realized Cursed Technique Reversal to defeat Jogo and bargain with Hanami for the release of two hostages. After Hanami and Jogo left, Niji collapsed and began recovering from his severe burns.

  • Sakurada Niji realized how to use Cursed Technique Reversal and chose to remove Jogo’s head rather than risk letting him live.
  • Sakurada Niji carried Jogo’s head to Hanami and proposed a Binding Vow in exchange for the two hostages.
  • Hanami accepted the vow, released the two women, and left with Jogo’s head after Sakurada Niji handed it over.
  • Sakurada Niji collapsed, then forced himself to stay awake and used Cursed Energy to repair his burns.

Ch. 37Lives aren't bargaining chips

Sakurada Niji survived a fight with Jogo and Hanami, saved three victims, and called Satoru Gojo and Shoko for help. As Shoko treated the badly burned victim, Gojo urged Niji to stop blaming himself for not saving everyone.

  • Sakurada Niji checked the victims and discovered his sword and its sheath had been badly damaged in the fight.
  • The assistant supervisor returned, and Niji borrowed his phone to tell Satoru Gojo that two speaking special grade cursed spirits had attacked and to ask him to bring Shoko.
  • Niji instructed the assistant supervisor to get help for the victims, two of whom had gone without food or water for three days.
  • Satoru Gojo arrived with Shoko, and Niji explained that he had badly wounded Jogo and learned reverse cursed technique during the fight.
  • Niji asked Shoko to treat the critically burned victim, and she went to help him.
  • Satoru Gojo thanked Niji and told him that he had done the best he could, accusing him of being arrogant for holding himself responsible for everything.

Ch. 38[Value]

Sakurada Niji, Satoru Gojo, and Shoko brought a burn patient back to Jujutsu High, where Shoko operated on him. After Shoko challenged Niji to value his own life, Niji promised to judge hostage situations according to his own strength.

  • Shoko told Sakurada Niji that his death would be a greater loss to humanity and urged him not to sacrifice himself automatically to save a hostage.
  • Satoru Gojo teleported Niji, Shoko, and the burn patient to Jujutsu High, leaving Niji nauseated and vomiting in the forest.
  • Shoko photographed Niji vomiting while Satoru Gojo patted his back, and Gojo teased Niji by keeping the camera out of reach.
  • Sakurada Niji carried the patient to Shoko's infirmary and asked questions as Shoko explained the treatment.
  • Shoko and Sakurada Niji operated on the patient using anesthesia and Reverse Cursed Technique, restoring him nearly to normal.

Ch. 39"Treatment"

After Shoko successfully operated on Sakurada Niji, he joined a meeting with Suguru Geto, Satoru Gojo, and Masamichi Yaga to discuss Kenjaku’s plot and Geto’s increasingly disturbing assignments. The group agreed to stay alert, while Yaga warned Geto not to kill anyone.

  • Sakurada Niji panicked and tried to flee Shoko’s surgery, but Satoru Gojo caught him and helped Shoko anesthetize him.
  • Sakurada Niji woke after a successful operation and learned that Suguru Geto had returned.
  • Sakurada Niji told the group that Kenjaku had targeted their strongest fighters and warned that Geto’s assignments might be designed to push him toward his psychological limit.
  • Suguru Geto described recent assignments near casinos, red-light districts, and gangs, while Sakurada Niji urged him to protect those he cared about and not get drawn into others’ wrongdoing.
  • Masamichi Yaga ordered the group to stay in contact during assignments and warned Geto not to kill anyone; Satoru Gojo said he trusted Geto’s judgment.

Ch. 40Researching cursed techniques

Sakurada Niji developed his cursed technique and considered ways to improve his cursed energy control while waiting for his damaged Cursed Tool to be repaired. He found an exhausted Suguru Geto at the dorms and arranged to accompany him on a mission the next day.

  • Sakurada Niji practiced creating and moving cursed-energy weapons, but found that maintaining them in combat was inefficient.
  • Sakurada Niji used cursed technique lapse and reversal together to cut through a wall, then considered studying Satoru Gojo's Six Eyes to improve his perception of cursed energy.
  • Sakurada Niji left the Training Ground and found Suguru Geto sitting outside the dorms, exhausted and lost in thought.
  • Sakurada Niji asked Suguru Geto to take him on the next mission and insisted he could handle jobs that tested one's humanity.
  • Suguru Geto agreed to go with Sakurada Niji the next day, then went inside to sleep.
