Ch. 41A Night Visit to the Time Vessel Association

After Riko Amanai went missing, Tan Man used the search effort as cover to visit the Time Vessel Association with Toji and confront the people behind the commission to kill her. He killed two representatives who were not the person he sought, leaving the search for the real decision-maker unresolved.

  • Masamichi Yaga sent Nanami, Yu Haibara, and Tan Man to handle cursed spirit incidents while Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto searched for Riko Amanai.
  • Tan Man finished the assigned exorcisms, then persuaded Masamichi Yaga to let him use his Zenin Clan connections to help with the search.
  • Tan Man and Toji visited the Time Vessel Association after news of Riko Amanai's disappearance had spread.
  • When an executive tried to change or cancel the commission, Tan Man killed him with Black Flame.
  • The Time Vessel Association's leader appeared, but Tan Man recognized that he was not the person who issued the order, and Toji killed him at Tan Man's command.

Ch. 42Standards for friendship

Tan Man confronted Kenjaku at the Time Vessel Association and tried to secure his cooperation in preventing the Star Plasma Vessel’s assimilation with Tengen. Kenjaku attacked him with Domain Expansion: Womb Profusion, but Tan Man recovered from the crushing gravity and walked toward him, declaring he would stop him.

  • Tan Man led Toji through the Time Vessel Association’s building and found Kenjaku disguised as a praying woman.
  • Tan Man revealed that he knew Kenjaku’s identity and threatened Yuji Itadori and Jin Itadori to force a response.
  • Kenjaku dropped his disguise, questioned how Tan Man knew so much, and challenged him to prove himself as a potential friend.
  • Kenjaku unleashed Domain Expansion: Womb Profusion, crushing the people in the prayer room and Tan Man’s limbs.
  • Tan Man’s limbs regenerated, and he calmly walked toward Kenjaku through the domain as he said he would stop him.

Ch. 43The beginning of chaos

Kenjaku’s attacks devastated the Time Vessel Association while Tan Man escaped with Toji by using the Evil Eye to distort Kenjaku’s perception. As they drove away, Tan Man outlined his plan to pull Jujutsu Society’s factions into chaos and gain their trust, while Toji agreed to help him.

  • Kenjaku realized Tan Man’s apparent presence had been an illusion, recognized that the original plan needed to change, and watched Toji’s car escape the ruined buildings.
  • Tan Man explained that the Evil Eye had distorted Kenjaku’s perception and let Toji take him away, while noting that Kenjaku’s open domain could have overwhelmed the trick with indiscriminate force.
  • Tan Man told Toji that Kenjaku planned to use Tengen and Cursed Spirit Manipulation to assimilate everyone in Japan into a giant cursed spirit for the sake of seeing what would happen.
  • Toji asked what Tan Man planned to do next, and Tan Man said he would create chaos among Jujutsu High, the Three Great Families, and Jujutsu Headquarters so they would come to depend on him.
  • Toji accepted Tan Man’s scheme as part of their brother-like bond and wondered whether Tan Man’s staged plan could still succeed if its audience learned the truth.

Ch. 44Those Eyes · Convergence

Gojo and Geto discussed Tan Man Zenin’s mysterious Golden Eyes while searching for Riko Amanai, then investigated the destroyed Time Vessel Association headquarters. They discovered a gruesome massacre but had not yet identified who was responsible.

  • Geto asked Gojo about Tan Man Zenin, and Gojo admitted Tan Man’s Golden Eyes had trapped him in an illusion that even the Six Eyes could not detect.
  • Yaga called Gojo and Geto to investigate an incident at the Time Vessel Association’s headquarters.
  • Gojo and Geto arrived at the ruined headquarters and found no sign that a Curtain had been used.
  • Geto moved rubble aside and uncovered human remains scattered throughout the ruins.

Ch. 45Expected and Unexpected

Tan Man used Riko Amanai’s disappearance to misdirect Jujutsu Headquarters and create opportunities for the Zenin Clan, while Naobito Zenin agreed to raise doubts about how Tan Man knew of the star plasma vessel. Naobito then revealed an unexpected development involving Suguru Geto, leaving Tan Man asking what had happened.

  • Tan Man arranged for Zenin Clan members to search for clues and prepared to influence the ordinary police investigation.
  • Jujutsu Headquarters suspected either a mole among its higher-ups or Misato Kuroi, whom it took into custody and interrogated.
  • Tan Man explained to Naobito Zenin that he wanted him to bring the question of how the star plasma vessel’s location had been known to Jujutsu Headquarters.
  • Naobito Zenin agreed, but asked whether Suguru Geto’s possible Special Grade classification was also part of Tan Man’s plan.
  • Tan Man said he did not know what Naobito meant and asked what had happened to Suguru Geto.

Ch. 46What happened that night, part one

Tan Man learned that Suguru Geto had vanished after the Time Vessel Association’s headquarters was destroyed, and concluded that Geto was probably dead. The story then returned to the ruins, where Satoru Gojo took three injured survivors to the hospital as Suguru Geto stayed behind to search, unaware that someone was approaching him.

  • Naobito Zenin told Tan Man that Satoru Gojo had found three injured civilians at the ruins and that Suguru Geto disappeared while searching for survivors.
  • Tan Man inferred from the Cursed Spirits’ rampage that Suguru Geto was likely dead, with Kenjaku the most probable killer, and worried about how this could change events.
  • At the ruins, Suguru Geto examined the dead civilians while Satoru Gojo traced a small amount of Cursed Residue toward the road where Toji had left with Tan Man.
  • Suguru Geto stopped Satoru Gojo from clearing the rubble recklessly, and the two argued over their duty to protect non-sorcerers.
  • Satoru Gojo carried three injured survivors to a hospital while Suguru Geto began raising a Curtain, as a hidden figure closed in on him.

Ch. 47What happened that night, part two

Kenjaku deceived Suguru Geto with a feigned plea for help and trapped him in her open Domain Expansion. Suguru Geto was pinned down, but he summoned Rainbow Dragon to attack her.

  • Kenjaku hid in the ruins and decided to use Suguru Geto’s presence as a chance to foil Tan Man’s predictions.
  • Suguru Geto deliberately left an opening while searching the ruins, hoping to draw out whoever was hiding there.
  • Kenjaku appeared behind Suguru Geto and pretended to be a badly injured sorcerer asking for help.
  • Suguru Geto approached Kenjaku, and she unleashed Domain Expansion: Womb Profusion.
  • Womb Profusion overwhelmed the Slit-Mouthed Woman’s Simple Domain, destroyed her and the nearby cursed spirits, and pinned Suguru Geto to the ground.
  • Suguru Geto resisted and summoned Rainbow Dragon to charge at Kenjaku.

Ch. 48That Night: Part Three

Satoru Gojo found the aftermath of Suguru Geto’s battle with Kenjaku and feared Geto had been gravely wounded. The next day, Tan Man paid Mei Mei to help him learn New Shadow Style: Simple Domain and keep their dealings secret.

  • Satoru Gojo sensed numerous powerful cursed spirits near the Time Vessel Association and destroyed them with Blue as he hurried to investigate.
  • Satoru Gojo found combat traces and fresh cursed residue from Kenjaku and Suguru Geto, along with blood from both, and wondered what had happened to Geto.
  • Tan Man met Mei Mei at a café and transferred her one million yen after she remarked on his decision to join Tokyo Jujutsu High.
  • Tan Man asked Mei Mei for help learning New Shadow Style: Simple Domain and paid her ten million yen, then twenty million yen, as she raised the issue of its binding vow.
  • Mei Mei agreed to look for a way to help, and Tan Man transferred another fifty million yen and asked her to keep their dealings confidential.
  • Tan Man paid Mei Mei an additional fifty million yen on the condition that she ask no questions and tell no one about their transaction, and Mei Mei promised to keep it secret.

Ch. 49The resolve to lose your life

Tan Man Zenin formally met Kento Nanami and Yu Haibara, then confronted Satoru Gojo after Gojo demanded that Masamichi Yaga prioritize finding Suguru Geto. The chapter ended with Tan Man and Gojo challenging each other over whether they were prepared to risk their lives.

  • Masamichi Yaga introduced Tan Man Zenin to Yu Haibara and Kento Nanami, who greeted him as their fellow first-year.
  • Yu Haibara asked Tan Man about his cursed technique, and Tan Man offered to demonstrate it another time and asked them to call him Tan Man.
  • Satoru Gojo confronted Masamichi Yaga in the hallway and demanded that he send sorcerers to search for Suguru Geto.
  • Tan Man used threads of Black Flame to stop Gojo from gripping Yaga, but Gojo broke the threads with Limitless and told Tan Man to stay out of it.
  • Tan Man called Gojo childish and asked whether he was prepared to lose his life, and Gojo challenged Tan Man to prove his own resolve.

Ch. 50To 'Help' You

After learning Suguru Geto was missing and badly injured, Satoru Gojo reluctantly told Tan Man what had happened so they could search for him. Tan Man suspected the enemy could conceal their presence from the Six Eyes and reassured Gojo that they would see Geto again, while someone else became involved elsewhere.

  • Masamichi Yaga stopped Gojo and Tan Man from escalating their argument and put the Star Plasma Vessel matter on hold so they could focus on finding Geto.
  • Tan Man offered to help, and Gojo reluctantly recounted the events of the previous night to him, Kento Nanami, and Yu Haibara.
  • Tan Man reasoned that the enemy who had injured Geto might be able to hide from Gojo's Six Eyes.
  • Gojo admitted he had failed to detect the enemy and considered that his careless search might have left Geto to face them alone.
  • Tan Man reassured Gojo that they would see Geto again, while another unexpected person became involved elsewhere.
