The people who came were a pack of predators, all harboring ill intentions and wanting to feast on my flesh and blood, yet Li Tianming and the others actually had the nerve to go exchange ideas with them!"
Zhao Longju smiled. "Young Qin, perhaps you see it that way because you haven't participated in research yet. Personally, I can understand Professor Li and the others."
"Research is science, not mysticism. You can't shut yourself away for years and suddenly emerge with miraculous powers. If you work in isolation, your results are unlikely to hold up in the real world. You still need plenty of discussion to keep your work on the right track. Oh, right, I'm talking about research in the broad sense. Mathematics isn't included."
"Oh?"
Zhao Longju wiped the meat juices off his full beard. "Mathematics is a special field. The entire discipline is advanced by geniuses who appear out of nowhere. It's more mystical than mysticism."
Zhao Longju spoke with precision and experience, making Qin Siyang feel as though he were talking to a professor.
"Uncle Zhao, you know about research too?"
Zhao Longju sighed. "Before the apocalypse, I was indeed something of a researcher. But the field I worked in became obsolete as soon as the apocalypse arrived. Later, my eldest brother funded me as well, and I tried researching things like gods and
