| Status | Alive; removes his Gnosis and lets it dissolve into stardust 42 |
| First Appearance | Speaking with Dvalin in the Whispering Woods 5 |
Appearance
- Clothing: A green outfit and green hat, worn with white stockings 5 25.
- Eyes: Emerald green 16.
- Presentation: His pretty appearance leads Lumine and Paimon to question his gender; Gabrielina correctly identifies him as a boy 5 25.
- Accessory: A Vision at his waist glimmers while he uses Anemo to lift the Skyward Harp 41.
Personality
Venti is playful, theatrical, and fond of flattering people into helping him. He boasts about his reputation as a bard, answers questions about Barbatos evasively, and repeatedly pretends not to understand when Gabrielina addresses him by his divine name. When persuasion fails at the cathedral, he dramatically announces himself as the Anemo Archon—only to be dismissed by the nun 16 25 28 34.
His love of alcohol frequently undermines his dignity. He abandons his investigation of Gabrielina to visit Angel’s Share, wheedles wine out of Diluc, and passes out before his scheduled performance. His unpaid debts are substantial enough that Diluc estimates they would require two years of work at Dawn Winery to repay 15 16.
Beneath the comedy, Venti is protective of both Dvalin and Mondstadt. He insists that the dragon is ill rather than deserving death, and warns Gabrielina that the city cannot endure more uncontrolled destruction. His reluctance to solve everything personally reflects his belief that humanity should manage its own affairs without depending on a god 27 34.
His private outlook is more weary than his public persona suggests. He regards fate as a cage imposed by the Heavenly Principles and has lost interest in staking everything on overthrowing it. Instead, he wants to preserve the stories of those brave enough to resist, whether or not they succeed 42.
Abilities & Skills
Anemo Manipulation
Venti controls wind for movement, concealment, communication, and support 5 10 26 27.
- Vanishes as a breeze and later re-forms his body from the wind 5 26.
- Remains hidden in nearby wind currents while speaking to Lumine, Paimon, and Gabrielina 10.
- Keeps Lumine suspended in midair with a gentle breeze during the Eye of the Storm battle 27.
- Uses Anemo to lift the Skyward Harp for examination 41.
- Exerts pressure that agitates candle flames during his confrontation with Gabrielina 34.
Music and Historical Knowledge
Venti uses songs to recount Mondstadt’s history and explain Dvalin’s suffering. He identifies the dragon’s Tear Crystals and understands how the Skyward Harp can help awaken Dvalin’s true self 25 27 28 35.
- Performs a poem about Dvalin before a crowd in Cathedral Plaza 25.
- Reveals Stormterror’s history to Diluc through a musical performance, securing his assistance 35.
- Recognizes that centuries of poisonous blood and subsequent Abyss Order interference caused Dvalin’s hostility 27.
- Determines that the harp’s Anemo power has faded over a thousand years and directs the group to restore it with purified tears 41.
- Claims to know every song of the past, present, and future; this is presented as his own boast 28.
Combat and Power Assessment
- Archon strength: Gabrielina’s system assigns the current Venti a score of 62.528 on its self-invented scale, compared with Phanes at 100.000. The assessment is not a documented level or advancement 16.
- Archery: Fires arrows at an Eye of the Storm, but its winds blow them aside. His ineffective showing makes Lumine question his apparent strength 27.
- Elemental perception: Detects the familiar quality of Gabrielina’s power and recognizes that her failed purification consumes Anemo while leaving poisonous abyssal residue 15 26.
Equipment / Items
- Lyre: His regular instrument, used for performances and accompanying conversations 25 27.
- Bow: Used against the Eye of the Storm 27.
- Skyward Harp / Holy Lyre der Himmel: A sacred instrument once played by Barbatos. Venti seeks it to communicate with Dvalin, but its depleted power requires restoration using purified Tear Crystals 28 29 41.
- Gnosis: A translucent, queen-shaped chess piece fashioned from the remains of a great being. Venti removes it from his chest and lets it turn into stardust; the passage does not establish its subsequent whereabouts 42.
- Buried wine stash: Keeps aged wine beneath the great tree at Windrise. Gabrielina’s discovery of its location greatly alarms him 26.
Relationships
- Dvalin — A cherished dragon whom Venti remembers as gentle and kind. He seeks to cure Dvalin’s corruption and repeatedly opposes killing him 16 27 34 41.
- Gabrielina — A powerful ally whose abilities feel inexplicably familiar. Their teasing rapport becomes tense when he challenges her destructive behavior, but he trusts her enough to request restraint and noninterference in his Fatui arrangement. Her system links their familiarity to her character background without explaining the connection 15 26 34 42.
- Lumine — Recruits her to retrieve the sacred harp and purify Dvalin’s tears. He supports her with wind in combat, while she gradually deduces his identity; Gabrielina later confirms it 26 27 29 43.
- Paimon — Accompanies his rescue effort but frequently objects to his evasions and apparent avoidance of work. She calls him a “tone-deaf bard” 25 41.
- Diluc — Tavern host, creditor, and eventual collaborator. Diluc refuses further payment negotiations until Venti settles his debts, but agrees to assist after hearing Dvalin’s history 15 16 35.
- Jean — Joins the private effort to save Dvalin and asks Venti whether the restored harp can call the dragon. Her public support is constrained by Fatui political pressure 41.
- Cryo Archon / Tsaritsa — Party to a longstanding contract involving the Fatui. Venti states that he entered the agreement willingly and asks Gabrielina not to interfere 42.
- Sister Gotelinde — Refuses his request for the sacred harp, remaining unimpressed even when he declares himself Barbatos 28 29.
Story Role / Major Arcs
First Encounter and Stormterror’s Retreat
Venti first appears speaking with Dvalin in the Whispering Woods. The encounter is interrupted when Lumine’s ornament alerts the dragon and Gabrielina assumes an intimidating darkened form. Venti reacts with shock and retreats as a breeze 5.
After Gabrielina overpowers Dvalin during his attack on Mondstadt, Venti intervenes through an unseen voice and asks the travelers to let the dragon leave. He promises a later meeting while remaining concealed nearby 9 10.
Recruiting Dvalin’s Rescuers
At Angel’s Share, Venti meets Gabrielina over drinks and discusses Dvalin’s worsening condition while concealing his own identity. Later, in Cathedral Plaza, he identifies Lumine’s blue crystal as one of Dvalin’s tears 15 16 25.
Testing additional crystals reveals that Lumine can cleanse corruption, whereas Gabrielina consumes the elemental energy and leaves dangerous residue. At Windrise, Venti explains the curse afflicting Dvalin and the Abyss Order’s role in aggravating it 26 27.
Recovering and Restoring the Sacred Harp
Venti proposes using the Skyward Harp to awaken Dvalin from his nightmare. After the cathedral refuses to lend it—even following his declaration that he is Barbatos—he recruits Lumine and Gabrielina to “borrow” it at night 28 29.
Before the retrieval, he privately confronts Gabrielina about the explosion near Starfell Lake and insists on saving rather than killing Dvalin. Following the Fatui ambush in the sanctuary, he directs the group to Angel’s Share, where his account wins Diluc’s cooperation 34 35.
At the subsequent meeting with Jean and Diluc, Venti discovers that the harp’s power is depleted. Lumine partially restores it with two purified Tear Crystals, and the group agrees to search for more 41.
The Fatui Agreement and Gnosis
After the meeting, Venti asks Gabrielina not to interfere with his voluntary agreement with the Cryo Archon. He also questions their unexplained sense of familiarity. Once alone, he reflects on fate and the value of preserving courageous people’s stories, then removes his Gnosis and watches it dissolve into stardust 42.
Notable Quotes
“Stand in the sunlight, and you shall become a hero. Stand in the shadows, and you may usher in calamity.” 16
“Because Mondstadt no longer needs a god. This should be humanity’s own era now, and they need to learn to solve their own problems.” 34
Trivia
- Venti has a cat allergy 16.
- He introduces himself as the three-time reigning champion of Mondstadt’s Most Beloved Bard 25.
- While claiming to have been poisoned during his attempt to contact Dvalin, he jokingly calls himself an old poet “all of eighteen years old”; this is not a reliable statement of his age 28.
- His private recollections extend across at least three thousand years of flowing winds, yet he cannot place Gabrielina in them 15.
