Why had I come to Jujutsu High...?
"I want to change everyone's endings!"
My eyes lit up, and I held up one finger.
"Ow! That hurt!"
I clutched my head with tears in my eyes, because a certain someone had bonked me.
"Do you even know their endings? Take this seriously!"
I was confused. I felt wronged. I gave Satoru Gojo a resentful look. If I'd had ears and a tail, they would have been perked right up a moment ago, but now they would all be drooping.
Come on, I really do know!
"Huh?" Satoru Gojo bent down and leaned closer. "Are you really crying?" He pitched his voice up, acting like some affected high school girl. "I'm sowwy. You'll forgive Satoru-chan, won't you~?" Then he rubbed my head again. "Pain, pain, go away~"
"Enough of this nonsense!" Yaga fought back the urge to punch Satoru Gojo. "You fail."
A cursed corpse suddenly jumped up and lunged at me.
I hurriedly dodged aside.
"The more desperate the situation, the more a person's true nature shows. Until I hear the answer I'm looking for, the attacks won't stop."
Before he had even finished speaking, more and more cursed corpses charged at me, and I gradually began struggling to keep up.
"What? Changing everyone's endings isn't good enough?! Then what is?!"
"No."
"Ah~ Even Satoru-chan can't help you with this one~" Yikes. Satoru Gojo pressed his index fingers together with a bashful expression. The sight of him acting so delicate and affected was simply too much to look at.
I quickly turned away. Better to focus on the cursed corpses.
Why were the cursed corpses attacking faster and faster? Even an athletic guy like Yuji Itadori, who could run fifty meters in three seconds, couldn't withstand more than a few of their attacks, let alone a weakling like me with a constitution of only four. I was already sweating from exhaustion and sprawled on the floor, unable to get up.
After blocking the last attack with silk, I weakly said:
"[Blow Away]"
The next second, all the cursed corpses went flying and slammed into the ceiling.
A few of them looked pretty badly smashed up. They're not going to make me pay for them, are they...?
"Didn't I tell you she was special? She's incredibly gifted, and she can use Cursed Speech however she likes~"
Thanks so much for the glowing review. So the reason I had to fight all those cursed corpses was because I was too strong?
"...That means nothing if she can't pass the assessment."
"Aww, don't be so inflexible~"
"..."
I had a feeling Satoru Gojo was about to get hit again.
"Now, I'll ask you again. What is your purpose in coming to Jujutsu High?"
"..."
Everyone's endings flashed before my eyes like slides: Satoru Gojo, the strongest, cut in half; Suguru Geto, killed by his best friend, only to have his body controlled by Brain Flower afterward; Nobara Kugisaki, disfigured, her fate unknown; Toge Inumaki, an arm severed, unable even to cry out in pain... I thought I understood now.
I slowly pushed myself up and stood, looking Masamichi Yaga straight in the eye. "Because Mr. Gojo poked me unconscious and brought me back here."
Did you think I was going to say I wanted to save the world? Give me a break. No way was I making such a cringey declaration!!!
"?"
Giant question marks popped up over Satoru Gojo's and Yaga's heads.
"Satoru, you..." Yaga's iron fist was already itching to strike.
"Huh? Aren't you supposed to give us a whole list of moving ideals about doing it for the world?!"
Satoru Gojo hurriedly reached behind his back and frantically tugged at the hem of my clothes.
"...Fine." I took a deep breath. "In this world, I have neither a past nor a future. But there are people I want to protect, and I'll give everything for them."
That statement was half true and half false, mixed with a few selfish motives of my own.
"..."
For a moment, everyone fell silent.
Yaga had intended to refuse, but after considering the girl's extraordinary talent, he reluctantly went against his own "principles."
"You pass. Satoru, take her to the dorms."
"Sure thing. Let's go, Edano~" With that, Satoru Gojo picked me up by my collar just as he had on the way here. My vision blurred, and we were in the dorms.
"There aren't many people here, so most of these rooms are empty. Pick whichever you like, Edano~"
The more I heard, the more I felt like I'd been roped into something shady...
"Oh, right. You probably don't need this anymore, but let me introduce myself anyway." He pointed at himself. "Satoru Gojo, in charge of the first-years at Jujutsu High. I'm the strongest jujutsu sorcerer alive, you know. Come to your teacher whenever you need anything!"
Satoru Gojo's boasting left me a little speechless, but I still played the well-behaved student and obediently replied-though I'd already blown that act right at the start-"Yes, Mr. Gojo. I'm Takechi." I beamed.
"All right~ If you've got any luggage, I'll go pick it up with you when we have time. Right now, you're coming with me for a physical checkup. You really are a little frail, after all."
I knew Satoru Gojo was already putting it very tactfully, but it still ticked me off...
Once again, I was hoisted up by the fateful back of my collar, and the next instant, I appeared in the infirmary.
I spotted a gorgeous woman. Shoko!!!
I immediately went, "Hey, beautiful~" and blinked furiously to express my love.
Shoko Ieiri couldn't help laughing at the ridiculous sight of the girl dangling by the back of her collar. Clearly, though, the girl hadn't noticed anything wrong, until Satoru Gojo began shaking violently from the effort of holding back his laughter.
Only then did I realize he still hadn't put me down.
Oh! My! God! What had I just done?! What kind of state had I just appeared in front of Shoko in?!
At the sight of the girl's utterly hopeless expression, Satoru Gojo finally lost it, joining Shoko in uproarious laughter until he doubled over.
"...Mr. Gojo, am I allowed to curse at someone?"
"Hahaha-hic! Nope, Edano. Your Cursed Speech can't really hurt me, but you should watch out for the backlash on yourself~ Hahahahahaha!"
"Ahem. Taketori, my name is Shoko Ieiri. If you ever get hurt, you can come to me."
Mom, Shoko smiled at me and even talked to me. My life was complete. Sob, sob.
"Shoko! Can I call you that? And you can just call me Takechi!"
"Of course, Takechi." Shoko stroked my head.
Ah~ This was bliss~ I nuzzled into her palm.
"Hold on, Edano. Your soul's about to float away. Also, aren't you forgetting something?"
"Oh, Takechi, let's run some tests first."
Before you continue
