  • Tengen accepted Jianxia’s proposal and offered to prepare for the establishment of the great barrier.
  • Shinji and Tengen discussed gaining support from the Zenin, Gojo, and Kamo Clans for the plan.
  • Jianxia left the Zenin Estate and wandered through the forest with his subdued cursed spirits.
  • Jianxia discovered that the caterpillar cursed spirit could swallow and spit out objects, named it Fat Worm, and tried to wear it like Toji Fushiguro.
  • A Zenin Clan envoy introduced himself to Jianxia and concluded that Jianxia was Ryomen Sukuna after noticing his cursed spirits and Fat Worm dangling from his belt.

Ch. 27Yes, I'm Sukuna

Jianxia pretended to be Sukuna and intimidated Zenin Wu Yan into revealing why the Zenin Clan had sought him out. After accepting a Special Grade Cursed Tool as an offering, Jianxia agreed to an alliance and proposed using Wu Yan as a spy inside Shinji Zenin’s residence.

  • Jianxia used the cursed energy pressure of his cursed spirits to make Zenin Wu Yan kneel and answer his questions.
  • Wu Yan explained that Shinichi Zenin wanted an alliance against Shinji Zenin and had learned of Sukuna’s presence near Mutsu from cursed corpses.
  • Wu Yan offered Jianxia the Special Grade Cursed Tool Evening Mist, whose swings were guaranteed to hit, and Jianxia accepted it.
  • Jianxia agreed to the alliance but said his binding vow with Shinji required a plan.
  • Jianxia proposed bringing Wu Yan into Shinji’s residence as an apparent ally so Wu Yan could gather intelligence and report to Heian-kyo by carrier pigeon.

Ch. 28Luring a Chump into the Trap

Jianxia brought Zenin Wu Yan to Shinji Zenin and helped stage the boy’s defection from the Heian-kyo Zenin Clan. Shinji secured Wu Yan’s loyalty with a binding vow, leaving him bound to serve Shinji and his allies.

  • Jianxia returned to the Zenin Estate with Zenin Wu Yan and learned the boy barely remembered living there before his clan left.
  • Jianxia and Shinji fabricated a story about Shinji’s alliance with the Fujiwara Clan and his daily fights with Sukuna, convincing Wu Yan that Shinji was powerful.
  • Jianxia presented Wu Yan as a defector, and Wu Yan told Shinji that he wanted to surrender.
  • Shinji asked Wu Yan to make a binding vow to obey him and his allies in exchange for their promise not to endanger Wu Yan’s life.
  • Jianxia pressured Wu Yan into agreeing, and the binding vow took effect.

Ch. 29A bold idea

Jianxia considered how to build up his strength before the Fujiwara Clan’s decline and discovered a way the Long, Thin Cursed Spirit might help him develop Hiraizumi. The chapter ended with him wondering whether turning Hiraizumi into a city could attract settlers and create a steady supply of cursed spirits.

  • Jianxia reasoned that Sukuna’s defeat of the Fujiwara Clan’s forces could explain the Three Great Families’ rise, but decided he would build up his own forces rather than wait for events to unfold.
  • Uraume told Jianxia that he and Megumi Zenin had found six cursed spirits in nearby villages by tracking cursed residue.
  • Jianxia reassured Uraume that the small number of spirits was not his fault and brought the Long, Thin Cursed Spirit outside to test its Clumsy House technique.
  • The Long, Thin Cursed Spirit used about a tenth of its cursed energy to create a sturdy wooden cottage, prompting Jianxia to consider building Hiraizumi into a city to attract settlers and generate cursed spirits.

Ch. 30Building a City

Jianxia proposed turning Hiraizumi into a major city by building homes for displaced people, and Shinji agreed to support the plan. After the first houses were completed and Shinji brought nearly twenty refugees to settle there, Jianxia promised they would always have a place to live.

  • Jianxia told Shinji he wanted to make Hiraizumi rival Heian-kyo, and Shinji agreed to handle logistics and settlement.
  • Jianxia used cursed spirits to clear a hill and build wooden homes from gathered timber.
  • Jianxia worried that houses alone would not attract settlers because the farmland still needed to be prepared.
  • Shinji brought nearly twenty displaced people to Hiraizumi and said they were willing to farm in exchange for homes.
  • Jianxia showed the group the completed houses, asked their elder to assign them, and promised they would always have somewhere to live.

  • Jianxia claimed his system reward and received forbidden knowledge about creating Cursed Womb: Death Paintings, which he rejected as useless and unacceptable.
  • Megumi Zenin, Uraume, and Zenin Wu Yan encouraged Jianxia before he headed to the mountain to fight Gojo Gen.
  • Gojo Gen searched the mountain, underestimated Jianxia’s strength, and used the Six Eyes to look for his concealed cursed energy.
  • Jianxia hid near the summit and launched a cursed spirit from a buried Crate, which threw a Small Wooden Bucket at Gojo Gen.
  • Gojo Gen blocked the bucket with Limitless, then recoiled from the stench after its brownish-yellow contents splashed into view.

Ch. 35The Zenin Clan's strongest vs. the Gojo Clan's strongest, part two

Jianxia used cursed spirits and filth to drain Gojo Gen's Limitless, then attacked him in armor that concealed his cursed energy. The two prepared to continue their duel, with Jianxia relying on Evening Mist to bypass Limitless and Gojo Gen promising to fight at full strength.

  • Jianxia's cursed spirits hurled barrels of sewer filth at Gojo Gen, forcing him to maintain Limitless at an expanded range.
  • Gojo Gen used Blue to clear the filth and sweep up the cursed spirits, then deduced that Jianxia had Cursed Spirit Manipulation.
  • Jianxia approached unseen in armor made with the Clumsy House technique and slashed at Gojo Gen with Evening Mist.
  • Gojo Gen deactivated Limitless and dodged the blade, which had sliced his clothes, after learning Jianxia had soaked it in a latrine.
  • Jianxia prepared to attack again, knowing Evening Mist could bypass Limitless, while Gojo Gen removed his outer garment and declared he would go all out.

Ch. 36The Strongest Zenin vs. the Strongest Gojo · Part Three

Jianxia used Evening Mist’s sure-hit ability and an enormous wastewater attack to overwhelm Gojo Gen. The battle continued beneath a dome flooded with sewage, while the horrified spectators fled or resumed watching the broadcast.

  • Gojo Gen dodged Evening Mist but was cut by its extending blade, then punched Jianxia away and identified the weapon’s sure-hit ability.
  • Jianxia summoned Banquet of Fated Remnants and House-Maker, which raised an earthen dome over the mountaintop.
  • Jianxia explained that the dome held a month’s worth of wastewater from Hiraizumi, then triggered the barrels and pipes to release it onto Gojo Gen.
  • Tengen cut off the broadcast as Kamo Michisada, Megumi Zenin, and others left the viewing room, while Zenin Wu Yan fainted.
  • Shinji Zenin resumed the broadcast from his own barrier as Tengen hurried away and Uraume watched eagerly.

Ch. 37Domain Expansion

Jianxia overwhelmed Gojo Gen with sewage to weaken his Cursed Energy output, but Gojo Gen answered by expanding his domain. Jianxia's Hollow Wicker Basket shattered, leaving the sparring match poised to turn dangerous.

  • Jianxia flooded the earthen dome with sewage and churned it with wooden tentacles to force Gojo Gen to maintain Limitless.
  • Gojo Gen emerged from the sewage, filthy and furious, and activated Domain Expansion: Void Sea of Consciousness.

  • Gojo Gen offered to dispel his domain if Jianxia conceded and promised the Gojo Clan leadership of the plan.
  • Jianxia refused to concede, and Gojo Gen intensified his domain until Jianxia's Hollow Wicker Basket shattered.

Ch. 38Cursed Technique Burnout

Jianxia used Clumsy House’s concealment and House-Maker’s wooden pillars to evade Gojo Gen’s domain sure-hit and prepare the battlefield. He then revealed that another Cursed Spirit had broken the domain’s fragile outer shell, leaving Gojo Gen in Cursed Technique Burnout and falling from the sky.

  • Gojo Gen realized Jianxia and Banquet of Fated Remnants had escaped the domain’s sure-hit by hiding their Cursed Energy behind Clumsy House’s membrane.
  • Jianxia revealed that he had maintained Hollow Wicker Basket to buy time while House-Maker raised wooden pillars from the filthy water.
  • Gojo Gen praised Jianxia, then launched Maximum Output Blue at him from the air.
  • Jianxia explained that a domain reinforced on its inner shell was vulnerable from outside and warned Gojo Gen about his height.
  • A Cursed Spirit cracked and shattered the domain’s outer barrier, triggering Gojo Gen’s Cursed Technique Burnout and sending him falling.

Ch. 39It Felt So Sacred

Jianxia defeated Gojo Gen by having a revived cursed spirit break the domain’s outer shell, but the collapsing barrier released foul water toward the Zenin Estate. The flood covered the estate and its residents in filth, and Tengen arrived to find the aftermath.

  • Jianxia revived a Grade 3 cursed spirit and ordered it to break Gojo Gen’s domain while he used Hollow Wicker Basket to endure the sure-hit effect.

Ch. 42Tombs of the Star Corridor

Jianxia visited Tengen in the Tombs of the Star Corridor to learn how the Great Barrier tracked cursed energy and discovered that processing Sukuna’s enormous traces could overwhelm the mind. After recovering from the information overload, he learned of a special grade cursed spirit in Kawazu Township and decided to investigate.

  • Gojo Gen and Kamo Michisada accepted Jianxia’s offer to move their clans to better grounds, while Shinji and Megumi Zenin accepted the cursed spirit maids.
  • Jianxia entered the Tombs of the Star Corridor and asked Tengen to explain the Great Barrier’s operation and condition.
  • Tengen revealed that red lights in the Void Barrier represented cursed energy fluctuations across Japan, with a massive sphere containing traces of Sukuna’s activity.
  • Jianxia touched Sukuna’s sphere, was overwhelmed by its information, and suffered a nosebleed before Tengen pulled him away.
  • Jianxia used Light Returns at Dusk to repair his brain and safely accessed information about an ordinary special grade cursed spirit in Kawazu Township, Izu Province.
  • Jianxia left the Tombs of the Star Corridor and set off home, intending to investigate the cursed spirit.
