Tsukasa Hatayama smiled sheepishly and explained under the five others' horrified stares, "My Dark Manipulation... actually has a bug-like effect. It can forcibly extract the soul of an incarnated sorcerer."
"Since I can extract an incarnated soul, why not look at it another way and use that bug to extract a Cursed Technique's properties?"
The five stared at Tsukasa, dumbstruck and speechless. All of a sudden, they felt terribly envious of his Dark Manipulation.
Never mind that it could attack, defend, and wield Dark Gravity-it also came with soul-burning Violet Flame. Worse still, it had two powerful, mysterious Maximum Techniques.
And now he was telling them it could extract incarnated souls, and that his experiments had taken it as far as extracting the properties of the Inverted Spear of Heaven?
Are you sure you're playing the same Cursed Technique game as the rest of us, rather than running cheats?
The five pressed their lips together, wanting to speak but stopping themselves, and listlessly ate the food and snacks on the table. Right now, they desperately needed some peace and quiet.
Tsukasa wisely shut his mouth and drank his coffee instead of showing off any further. He knew Dark Manipulation was a little broken, but it was a primordial Cursed Technique.
Looking back at all the hot-blooded anime from his previous life, how many abilities connected to the origin of all things had ever been weak?
Good thing I didn't tell them about Dark Manipulation's Cursed Technique Reversal... equally primordial light. They'd definitely gang up on me if they knew.
After a long silence, Satoru Gojo shoved the Inverted Spear of Heaven into Tsukasa's arms with his greasy right hand.
He waved generously. "Take it for your experiments. I'm a little annoyed with you and jealous of your Cursed Technique, but as your best friend, I support you unconditionally."
Tsukasa's face lit up with a smile as he set down his coffee cup. Under the five others' gazes, he mysteriously pulled a notebook from his pocket as a return gift.
Satoru's eyes brightened. The notebook his best friend had produced immediately reminded him of the Rasengan from one night two years ago.
Did Tsukasa create another powerful Unusual Technique?
Sure enough, Tsukasa said, "As your best friend, I won't let you lose out either. This martial art should be perfect for..."
Before Tsukasa could finish, Satoru eagerly snatched it away. He lowered his eyes and saw the words "Flowing Water Rock Smashing Fist" written on the cover.
Satoru impatiently opened it. As soon as he saw the neatly written text inside, his beautiful Six Eyes contracted sharply.
Suguru Geto noticed his unusual reaction and leaned over, curiosity itching at him. But when he saw the part about turning Cursed Energy into water...
His eyes contracted too, as though he had witnessed something inconceivable.
The remaining three eagerly tried to crowd closer for a look as well, but before they could approach, Satoru snapped the notebook shut as though it were a priceless treasure.
Satoru paid little attention to their resentful looks. He gazed intently at his best friend, who was examining the Inverted Spear of Heaven, then leaned toward his ear and murmured:
"Tsukasa, aren't you losing out by trading such a powerful martial art for a lousy weapon? I feel like I could beat Toji Fushiguro senseless once I mastered it."
Tsukasa shook his head without much concern and leaned toward Satoru's ear to whisper, "As long as you like it. I haven't really worried about whether I'm losing out."
The Flowing Water Rock Smashing Fist was powerful, but compared with the Rozan Rising Dragon, it was hardly worth much.
"Tsukasa..."
A wave of gratitude washed over Satoru, and he couldn't resist leaning close to deliver a disgustingly mushy line. "Tsukasa, this humble young man has nothing to repay you with. Let me sleep with you tonight!"
As he spoke, he struck a pose that offered himself up for the taking, so touched that he was ready to give himself away that night.
A chill of disgust ran through Tsukasa. With his brows knitted, he kicked away the bashful, baby-faced Satoru. "Say anything filthy again, and I won't mind taking that martial art back!"
Satoru pouted miserably and hugged the notebook tight, not daring to act up again for fear that Tsukasa would dart over and snatch it back.
Little did he know that Tsukasa was only making an empty threat. Without giving it much thought, Tsukasa began studying the cake fork-the Special Grade Cursed Tool, the Inverted Spear of Heaven.
Meanwhile, Suguru moved a stone chair beside Satoru with a beaming smile, coaxing and flattering him relentlessly.
Who could look at the Flowing Water Rock Smashing Fist and not want it? It was an incredible technique that could deflect attacks, its strikes flowing endlessly like water.
More importantly, it came with instant-movement footwork that an enemy couldn't predict, allowing the user to appear unexpectedly behind them and strike straight at their kidneys.
While the men gathered around Satoru, Shoko Ieiri lazily ate her grilled meat, refilling her classmate Tsukasa's coffee whenever she grew bored.
With the other four focused on the Unusual Technique, Tsukasa quietly curled his five fingers into a claw. Thick black mist immediately surged out.
Under Shoko's stunned gaze, his five fingers, streaming black mist, slowly reached toward the Inverted Spear of Heaven and extracted the special Cursed Energy inside as though pulling out a soul.
That Cursed Energy was colorless. It was what had broken through Limitless's Inviolability, but now the dense black mist absorbed and merged with it.
Like a bottomless pit, the black mist devoured everything within the Inverted Spear of Heaven. Little by little, it drained the weapon of its special Cursed Energy.
For some reason, when Shoko looked at the spreading black mist again, it seemed darker to her naked eyes, and more sinister.
Tsukasa condensed a Black Rod. The faint gleam that occasionally flickered along it left him so satisfied that he couldn't stop the corners of his mouth from rising.
Now that his creation was complete, he needed someone to test it on. He reached out and patted the conveniently available Satoru, who was caught up in all the flattery.
"Satoru, let me poke your Limitless Inviolability with this Black Rod."
Satoru froze, as did the three gathered around him.
Once they recovered, all four stared in shock, their gazes darting between the Black Rod and the Inverted Spear of Heaven.
Satoru opened his mouth, then stopped himself. Clinging to a sliver of hope, he activated Inviolability.
Under the five others' differing gazes, Tsukasa easily thrust the Black Rod through Inviolability, forcibly stripping away Satoru's turtle shell.
The five gaped, questioning everything they knew as they stared blankly at the Black Rod forcibly nullifying Inviolability. Yu Haibara even rubbed his eyes in a daze.
Tsukasa smiled with immense satisfaction. His Dark Manipulation was now effectively enchanted, endowed with the ability to forcibly nullify Cursed Techniques.
Looks like I'll have to have a chat with Mahoraga sometime and extract the permanent reversed positive energy from his Sword of Extermination to imbue Dark Manipulation with it.
Although he could imbue it with positive energy himself, that was ultimately only good for a single use. It was nothing like Mahoraga's Sword of Extermination, which possessed permanent positive energy.
Satoru looked dazedly at the equally stunned Suguru and smiled bitterly. "Geto, I think I've raised someone who outclasses me so badly I can't keep up."
"Just accept it. You can't keep up with Tsukasa anymore. You should focus on your dream and surpass him through that instead."
Suguru offered the advice with a helpless smile, then teased, "Now it's not just Kenjaku out there wanting to steal Tsukasa's body. Even I'm tempted."
"Tsukasa can truly be called the strongest and invincible now. Dark Manipulation that can forcibly nullify Cursed Techniques-it's frightening just to think about."
"With his talent, it probably won't be long before he figures out a domain. Once that happens, whether Jujutsu Society fares well or badly will depend entirely on his mood."
"Tch. My strength can make Jujutsu Society dance to my tune too," Satoru retorted stubbornly, curling his lip.
Yet his actions told another story: his Six Eyes smiled as he offered his best friend his heartfelt wishes for becoming the strongest of their time.
The stronger Tsukasa became, the more profoundly they could reshape Jujutsu Society in the future. If they ever ran into someone they couldn't beat, they could just shut the doors and unleash Tsukasa!
