Haku, one of the teachers, was announcing the team assignments to the students, including Naruto and Sasuke.
"Team 7: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno."
"Team 8: Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame, Hinata Hyuga."
"Team 10: Shikamaru Nara, Choji Akimichi, Ino Yamanaka."
Aside from the unimportant background students, the team assignments for the Konoha 12 remained the same as in the original story.

Upon hearing that she and Sasuke were on the same team, Sakura Haruno remained outwardly composed, but her inner self was cheering wildly.
I didn't get assigned to Naruto-kun's team...
Some were happy, others disappointed. Hinata sighed inwardly over not getting to be with Naruto, but on second thought, it hardly seemed like a big deal. They saw each other every day anyway, and even Naruto's mother, Kushina, often visited her home.

There was no denying that Sasuke was just as popular with girls as he was in the original story. Several girls, including Ino, couldn't help feeling down.
Little did they know that the Sasuke they adored didn't care which team he was assigned to, much less whether there were any cute girls on it.
The only thing Sasuke cared about was whether his rival-and bromance partner-Naruto was on his team.
"Stuck-up Sasuke, I can't believe I'm stuck with you again! What a pain!"
Naruto's face was full of distaste.
"Tch! You think I want this?"
Sasuke sneered.
Clearly, both of them were the type to say one thing while feeling the exact opposite.
Meanwhile, Sakura, who was trying hard to get Sasuke's attention, couldn't even squeeze into their conversation. It felt bizarrely as though she were the third wheel.
"Haku, did you put me and
