When Chen Ye arrived at the camp.

Quite a few people gave him astonished looks.

After all, since they had stopped to rest, Chen Ye was the only survivor who had caught up.

"I never thought Chen Ye would actually catch up! Is he even human?"

Zhou Xiaoxiao's eyes filled with amazement.

"A sequence transcendent really is something else. He survived even with a tricycle!"

Zhou Lan, the famous star, now looked thoroughly weather-beaten, and her gaze brimmed with envy as she looked at Chen Ye.

"Sis, if only I could awaken a sequence. At least I'd be able to stay alive!"

"..."

The climate in the Yan Prefecture desert made Chen Ye very uncomfortable.

He figured today's temperature was at least thirty-six degrees Celsius.

Out in the desert in heat like this, baking under the sun, there wasn't even a single tree as far as the eye could see.

It was sheer torture.

It was hard to believe it was already late November.

Under normal weather conditions, wearing a down jacket in Yan Prefecture at this time of year would have been perfectly reasonable.

Perhaps the seasons had changed after the supernatural outbreak. Winter no longer felt like winter, and summer no longer felt like summer.

"Glug, glug!"

Chen Ye took out a bottle of mineral water, had two swallows, and quickly screwed the cap back on.

There were still several cases of mineral water in the cargo bed, but even so, he didn't dare gulp it down.

Who knew when they would get out of this desert?

In the desert, water was more precious than gold.

Heaven knew when they would find water again.

His previously soaking-wet clothes had now dried completely under the sun, without a trace of moisture left.

He glanced at the bus and cars nearby.

After a moment's thought, Chen Ye got up and headed toward the bus.

He had already finished everything he needed to do away from prying eyes. If he stood around here like an idiot now, he would probably get heatstroke before long.

At the very least, the bus had a roof that could provide some shade. It was much better than his completely exposed Motor Tricycle.

The upgrade to his canopy would take at least another four hours to finish.

Chen Ye's movements drew a few people's attention.

Those survivors merely glanced up at him before turning back to what they were doing.

Before going to the bus, Chen Ye first stopped by Chu Che's modified off-road vehicle.

He learned that Captain Chu was resting too.

He came up to the Long-Legged Girl's off-road vehicle.

She wasn't resting, but her face was deathly pale, and her lips were grayish white.

Clearly, her earlier battle with the Big Willow Tree in Longevity Village had drained a great deal of her strength, and she still hadn't recovered.

All Chen Ye could do was tell her to get some rest before turning toward the bus.

The bus belonged to Iron Lion.

During their earlier conversation, Iron Lion had told him that he had been a bus driver before the apocalypse.

After the apocalypse broke out, Iron Lion had fled in this bus and kept going ever since.

The bus's exterior was covered in scrapes and bloodstains, and much of its paint had begun to peel.

It was clear that the bus had already been quite old before the apocalypse.

There was also a tall luggage rack on the roof, with plenty of supplies strapped to it. The mountain-sized pack Iron Lion had brought out of Longevity Village was tied up there too.

Before the apocalypse, a vehicle with so much stuff on its roof would obviously never have been allowed on the road.

But this was the apocalypse. No one cared about such things anymore.

He reached the bus.

Several survivors lay along one side of it.

With the sunlight coming from the other direction, it provided a fairly decent patch of shade.

Perhaps sensing someone approaching, they lifted their eyelids to glance at Chen Ye, then drifted back into a groggy sleep.

In fact, most people in the camp were asleep.

After fleeing all through the night until now, many had completely exhausted their strength.

The bus driver was a bespectacled young man around thirty.

Chen Ye had heard the others call him Old Li.

Old Li had noticed Chen Ye long ago.

Seeing him approach, Old Li got off the bus to welcome him.

He held sequence transcendents in considerable respect.

"Chen Ye, you're here!"

"This damned weather. The sun's brutal. I'm coming aboard to hide from it for a bit!"

Old Li smiled without saying anything, then turned and led Chen Ye onto the bus.

This was the first time Chen Ye had boarded someone else's vehicle since the apocalypse.

Only once he was aboard did Chen Ye get a look at the bus's interior.

At the very back was an enormous bed that occupied almost the entire rear half of the cabin.

A burly figure lay on it, snoring away.

It was Iron Lion!

The Titan Sequence offered formidable combat power, but transforming into a giant to fight consumed a great deal of energy each time.

As a result, those of the Titan Sequence fell into a deep sleep after battle.

First, it restored their physical strength and energy.

Second, it healed their injuries.

This was something the big lug Iron Lion had told Chen Ye earlier too.

Just as Nana had said, every transcendent who awakened the Titan Sequence suffered a certain reduction in intelligence.

Much of what Chen Ye knew about sequence transcendents had come from Iron Lion.

Often, Chen Ye only had to say one thing, and Iron Lion would spill everything he knew.

Back in Apricot Blossom Town, Iron Lion had lost an arm, and it had only recovered after he spent a long time sleeping in the bus.

Now, Chen Ye could see that many of the big lug's wounds had already begun to scab over.

The interior was spacious and had even undergone some simple modifications.

The luggage racks inside had been removed, making the whole bus feel much more open.

There were other survivors aboard too, roughly seven or eight of them.

When they saw Chen Ye arrive, some looked afraid, while others looked envious.

Chen Ye asked in surprise, "This is all that's left?"

"Yeah. A lot of people never made it out of Longevity Village, and some didn't want to leave with the convoy!"

Old Li's voice was somber.

They had all been survivors on the same bus. With so many suddenly gone, anyone would have felt grief.

"Old Li, go take care of your things. I'll find somewhere to rest."

Old Li turned and fetched Chen Ye a bottle of mineral water, then went off on his own.

Chen Ye found a shaded seat and lay down. When the two survivors nearby saw him coming, they got up and moved a little farther back.

He adjusted the backrest to a comfortable angle, lit a cigarette, and settled in comfortably.

Watching the canopy's countdown tick away second by second, Chen Ye felt much more at ease.

Now all he had to do was wait for Captain Chu Che to wake up, and then they could divide up the supplies.

There were bound to be plenty of good things in the big lug's mountain-sized backpack.

Although Nana's backpack and his own were smaller, they would have to bring them out to share too.

Chen Ye rested with his legs propped up on the backrest of the seat in front.

The distant desert shimmered in the scorching sunlight.

Just then, Chen Ye saw something slowly approaching from the far end of the road... a Senior Scooter!

The Senior Scooter wobbled along, but it kept moving with unwavering determination.

It was actually Old Zhang.

So many people had died, yet Old Zhang was still alive.

It seemed... this Senior Scooter held a big secret.
