Background / History
Defeating Yun Yun
The Lion King ruled the Magical Beast Mountain Range and rarely ventured outside it. Xiao Yan initially sought him because his blood and purple spirit crystal were ingredients for the third-tier Amethyst Spirit Recovery Pill, which could temporarily restore Yao Ling’s former strength 10 13 21.
When Xiao Yan reached the mountains, he witnessed the Lion King overwhelm Yun Yun, a Three-Star Dou Emperor, within a few exchanges. The beast severely injured her and sealed her Dou Qi, preventing her from healing herself. He spared her life, warned her against challenging him again, and flew away as she retreated into a cave 14.
Submission to Xiao Yan
The Lion King encountered Xiao Yan after the boy had gathered herbs to treat Yun Yun. Initially dismissing him as a weak Dou Zhe, he became frightened when Yao Ling took control of Xiao Yan’s body and released overwhelming Dou Qi. Her pressure alone forced him to his knees and left him unable to use his own Dou Qi 15 16.
Believing Xiao Yan to be a Dou Zun expert, the Lion King offered lifelong service in exchange for survival. Xiao Yan accepted rather than killing him, collecting only a small bottle of blood and the requested crystal material. The beast then placed a summoning mark on Xiao Yan’s forehead. Privately, he wondered whether his new master’s strength exceeded Six-Star Dou Zun, unaware that the power belonged to Yao Ling 16.
Before Xiao Yan left the mountain range, the Lion King voluntarily offered to carry him out. Yun Yun witnessed him bowing to Xiao Yan and calling him “Master”; this helped convince her that antagonizing Xiao Yan could endanger the Misty Cloud Sect 18 19.
Service in Wutan City and the Mountains
Xiao Yan summoned the Lion King when the Jia Lie Family demanded an arm as compensation for Jia Lie Ao’s injury. The beast arrived above the Xiao Clan’s square, knelt before Xiao Yan, and obeyed his order to attack. A single eruption of Dou Qi slaughtered the assembled Jia Lie family members, after which he returned to the Magical Beast Mountain Range 20 21.
News of his submission spread through Wutan City. Ya Fei reported Xiao Yan’s command of a Tier-Six beast to the Mittel Family and urged them to establish friendly relations before other factions did 22.
During Xiao Yan and Xiao Yi Xian’s later cave expedition, the Lion King appeared as a Heavenly Snow Demon Ape threatened them. At Xiao Yan’s command, he attacked the ape for offending Xiao Yi Xian, ignored its appeals to their shared identity as magical beasts, and killed it 27 28.

Personality
The Lion King is proud of his position as the mountain range’s overlord and speaks imperiously to challengers. After defeating Yun Yun, he warns that she will not survive another challenge so easily. Against Yao Ling’s overwhelming power, however, his pride gives way to self-preservation: he kneels, begs for mercy, and offers permanent service 14 16.
His obedience is grounded in fear of his master’s perceived strength. He believes disobedience would bring annihilation and responds promptly to Xiao Yan’s summons. Once serving him, he follows lethal orders without hesitation, placing obedience above another magical beast’s plea for solidarity 20 21 28.
