Background

The Crow Spirit first appears in the mountains as an anomaly that knows Zhang Yuan's childhood name, “Yuan Baby.” Rather than attacking him, it asks for a fawn's organs; Zhang Yuan interprets the request as payment for entering its territory and shares the prey. 3

It subsequently guides Zhang Yuan through the forest, helps distract wild boars during hunts, and leads him back toward the village with its feathers. Their arrangement develops from exchanging prey for safe passage into regular cooperation, including shared meals after hunts. 5 6 11 12

When the Chen Family's mountain road project threatens the Crow Spirit's territory, Zhang Yuan warns it. The Crow Spirit responds by giving him a golden hairpin. Later, when a dangerous black fog descends on the forest, it warns Zhang Yuan to flee rather than accepting his attempted warning. 24 26

Zhang Yuan eventually finds the Crow Spirit dying in the abandoned Small Valley. He feeds it a large amount of his blood, causing it to mutate into a containable genetic body. After Zhang Yuan asks whether it is willing to become his lifelong companion, it nods and enters his Divine Nest as the fifth host. 141

Following more than a month of Source Essence-fed evolution, the Red-Eyed Crow can be summoned. Its former uncanny aura and recognizable spiritual nature are initially absent, leaving Zhang Yuan concerned that “Crow Brother” has been lost; however, traces of its old instincts and intelligence gradually reappear as it evolves. 142 165 174 187

Appearance

The Red-Eyed Crow is a pitch-black crow with bright ruby-like eyes. Its appearance becomes increasingly imposing with each evolution, ultimately resembling a small bird of prey rather than an ordinary crow. 142 165 195 295

After becoming a Divine Nest host, it is affectionate toward Zhang Yuan, frequently landing on his shoulder or rubbing against him. It strongly prefers fresh, bloody meat—especially animal organs—and disdainfully refuses dried meat. 142 143 187 260
