On the way to the Hall of Weapons, Senior Brother Zhang spoke to Ming Hao with anxiety written all over his face:
"Junior Brother Ming Hao, how could you be so foolish? You actually chose two incomplete cultivation methods!
"As far as I know, none of our Inner Disciples have managed to cultivate either of them to full mastery!"
As he spoke, Senior Brother Zhang kept shaking his head and sighing, seemingly deeply regretting Ming Hao's choices.
Ming Hao felt rather helpless. He had not intended to tell Senior Brother Zhang which cultivation methods he had chosen, but he had eventually given in to his senior brother's relentless coaxing. He had never expected to be nagged the entire way.
"Senior Brother, you don't need to worry so much. Naturally, I have confidence in my ability to cultivate these two methods," Ming Hao explained.
However, Senior Brother Zhang clearly did not believe him and continued his earnest persuasion:
"Junior Brother Ming Hao, take your senior brother's advice. When you choose your magic weapon later, you must examine your options carefully.
"After all, you can only choose one. You absolutely cannot make a mistake! This will determine how powerful you are in battle in the future!"
Worried that Ming Hao would make another careless choice just as he had with his cultivation methods, Senior Brother Zhang took particular care to remind him patiently.
"I understand, Senior Brother," Ming Hao hurriedly replied with a nod.
Then Senior Brother Zhang explained the Hall of Weapons in detail:
"The Hall of Weapons is much like the Hall of Cultivation Method. You can only choose from the sixth floor and below. And the higher the floor, the better the quality of the magic weapons.
"So remember, Junior Brother, start on the sixth floor. If there really isn't anything suitable there, settle for the next best option and look on the fifth floor."
"All right, Senior Brother. I'll remember." Ming Hao nodded again to show that he had taken the advice to heart.
Before long, Ming Hao arrived at the Hall of Weapons. Although the building lacked the imposing grandeur and magnificent scale of the Hall of Cultivation Method, it exuded a weighty solidity, as though it bore endless histories and tales.
Standing at the entrance, Ming Hao could even faintly feel waves of sharp energy rushing toward him like gusts of wind, inspiring involuntary awe.
Upon entering the Hall of Weapons, Ming Hao found it just as crowded, with countless long queues winding deep into the hall.
Holding their tokens, the disciples waited in orderly lines for their turn to choose their desired magic weapons.
From time to time, disciples who had found suitable magic weapons emerged from the Hall of Weapons, their faces glowing with delight. They clutched their prized treasures tightly, drawing envious looks and quiet discussion from those around them.
At the sight, Ming Hao could not help feeling a little anticipation himself, wondering whether he could find something truly suitable among all these magic weapons.
Just as he was about to join the queue, he suddenly noticed that the people ahead of him were none other than Lin Qinqin, who had collided with him in the Hall of Cultivation Method, and her two maids.
Her tall, slender figure and breathtaking beauty made quite a few disciples secretly swallow.
Lin Qinqin had clearly noticed Ming Hao as well. Every so often, she turned back to glare at him in warning, apparently still holding a grudge against this "lecher."
Ming Hao paid it little mind. The corners of his lips rose into a faint smile, and he calmly took his place at the back of the queue.
Time passed quickly, and at last it was Ming Hao's turn to enter the Hall of Weapons and choose a magic weapon.
He stepped through the entrance, sweeping his gaze over the dazzling array of magic weapons without lingering before heading straight for the sixth floor.
Once he reached the sixth floor, Ming Hao found that the displays were much more spacious, unlike the crowded floors below.
Meanwhile, Lin Qinqin was carefully examining one rack of magic weapons after another, her focused expression drawing glances.
Seeing this, Ming Hao simply chose a direction and headed that way.
Magic weapons had spirits as well. If a weapon clearly rejected its wielder, it would be less useful than an ordinary weapon. If it suited its wielder perfectly, however, a sixth-grade weapon might be better to use than a fifth-grade magic weapon.
Ming Hao surveyed the weapons before him. Everything was there: sabers, spears, swords, tridents, staffs, forks, rakes, whips, swordbreakers, hammers, axes, hooks, sickles, claw weapons, crutches, bows and arrows, shields...
For a moment, he found himself torn, so he could only search through the racks one by one.
Ming Hao picked up a sword and examined it carefully. Detailed information was prominently displayed beside it.
Clear Wind Sword, upper-middle sixth grade. When swung, currents of gentle wind coil around it, increasing attack speed...
The sword was quite good, but unfortunately, it did not suit him. He put it back and picked up another to examine.
Fish Intestine Sword, upper sixth grade. Its blade is as thin as a cicada's wing, nearly invisible to the naked eye when wielded, and incomparably sharp...
Silver-Iron Spear, middle sixth grade. Incomparably heavy, capable of piercing anything...
Black Iron Saber, upper sixth grade. When wielded, it bears down like a mountain crushing from above, driving forward without retreat...
He examined who knew how many magic weapons along the way, but none suited him.
Suddenly, Ming Hao felt a tremor in his heart, as though he had sensed some looming danger.
He looked around and soon fixed his gaze on a blade placed at the very back.
As he approached, he saw that the entire blade was dark red, with wisps of faint red mist rising from it. Even from a distance, it radiated a savage, bloodthirsty frenzy!
Ming Hao stepped forward and grasped its hilt. A chill instantly swept over him, as though it would freeze him solid, followed by waves of frenzied killing energy that threatened to devour his heart!
Burial Life Blade: peak sixth grade, infinitely close to fifth grade. Material unknown, origin unknown. Exceptional potential for growth. The blade possesses a spirit and is extremely savage and bloodthirsty. It can disturb the wielder's mind and cannot distinguish friend from foe. Extremely prone to backlash. Wielders are highly susceptible to cultivation deviation. It has had more than twenty wielders, all of whom suffered cultivation deviation and died, their cultivation extinguished. Absorbs blood. Wounds inflicted by its blade light are extremely difficult to heal. It appears to possess a second function that no one has yet unlocked. Hilt length: 36 centimeters. Blade length: 128 centimeters. Total length: 164 centimeters. Note: wielders assume all responsibility for their own life or death!
Ming Hao looked at the exceptionally long, slender blade in his hand. A chain was attached to its hilt, and its scabbard was covered in unknown runes. He felt very satisfied.
Perhaps because no one had chosen it for so long, a layer of dust seemed to cling to the blade. Ming Hao swung it hard, and it immediately grew a little brighter, settling considerably in his hand.
Ming Hao lightly drew it across his hand. A deep wound instantly appeared, refusing to heal. Blood flowed continuously and dripped onto the blade, which glimmered faintly and absorbed it at once.
Suddenly, the hilt clenched in his hand trembled slightly. Another chill flowed into him, and the wound he had just made rapidly healed, as though the Burial Life Blade had acknowledged him.
When he reached the registration desk outside, the discovery that Ming Hao had chosen this blade immediately caused a commotion.
"Boy, I advise you to find another magic weapon. This blade is deeply sinister. The grass on every one of its wielders' graves is already three feet high."
The elder handling registration at the Hall of Weapons patiently tried to dissuade him.
"The elder is right. Junior Brother, don't be stubborn. Your life is at stake. You can't afford to be careless."
"The elder speaks the truth. This Burial Life Blade is an infamous weapon of ill omen among the Inner Disciples. It's powerful, certainly, but wielding it means killing a thousand enemies while losing eight hundred of your own."
"Its previous wielder was a friend of mine. He was originally a meek, timid man, but he became extremely violent and addicted to killing. In the end, he lost his reason and died when his body exploded..."
The fellow disciples queuing nearby also spoke up, trying to persuade him!
Yet Ying Ming Hao stubbornly held to his decision and refused to listen, ultimately leaving the Hall of Weapons with the Burial Life Blade.
His departure prompted a chorus of rueful remarks.
"What a newborn calf, utterly unafraid of the tiger."
"That boy will probably die young."
"I wager he won't last three years."
"I wager two."
"I wager one."
"Junior Brother Ming Hao, did you find a suitable magic weapon?"
Fatty Zhang looked worried.
"I chose a saber. There's no need to worry, Senior Brother."
Ming Hao smiled.
"That's good. That's good."
Hearing this, Fatty Zhang felt relieved.
"Junior Brother, shall I escort you back so you can properly practice the cultivation methods you learned today?"
"There's no need to escort me, Senior Brother. I can head back myself."
"I'd better escort you anyway. Newly admitted disciples like you are the easiest targets for robbery by fellow disciples..."
