Background / History
Ming Hao grew up in a palace, surrounded by fine clothing, abundant food, maids, and guards. His attendants handled even his smallest needs, leaving him inexperienced in everyday tasks such as cooking. After leaving to temper himself, he became noticeably less restrained and increasingly sought opportunities to act independently 12 19 35.
He travelled through the Great Qin Dynasty with six maids and six guards before entering the lawless Chaos Zone on the way to the Misty Sect. During the entrance trials, he deliberately limited his performance to avoid attracting outside enemies. He also allowed his attendants to climb ahead during the gravity trial, hoping better results would secure them stronger teachers and greater sect support 6 8 11 27.
Soul and Incarnation Identity
The Ming Hao active outside Thunder Prison is not always the original body. After refining external incarnations, the body that leaves the prison is described as an incarnation of an external incarnation, while his original body remains inside 77 78.
| Identity | Position in the soul system | Documented role |
|---|---|---|
| Qin Fu Su / Taiguang | Heaven soul | Governs the source of life; its extinction causes death 718. |
| Unidentified / Shuangling | Earth soul | Governs intelligence, reactions, and strategy 718. |
| Black-haired Ying Ming Hao / Youjing | Human soul | Remains hidden in Thunder Prison; governs desires, preferences, and instincts 718. |
| Azure-haired Ying Ming Hao / Corpse Dog | One of the seven spirits born from Youjing | Governs joy and is the Ming Hao active in the cited passage 718. |
The incarnations can share consciousness, thoughts, and soul, and can freely switch between one another. Their personalities and approaches nevertheless retain subtle differences 78.
Appearance
Ming Hao initially has a fair, youthful face with delicate brows, clear eyes, red lips, and white teeth. By fifteen, his features and physique have matured considerably 12 23 601.
- Height: A little over 1.6 metres during the Treasure Hunt Fair period; nearly two metres at his later reunion with his attendants 59 604.
- Hair: Long azure-blue hair distinguishes the public-facing Ming Hao; the Youjing body hidden in Thunder Prison has black hair 592 718.
- Mature features: Slightly upturned eyes, dense eyelashes, and sharply defined brow bones 601.
- Dress: His fine clothing and lavish spending immediately mark him as wealthy during his early travels 6.
Personality
Ming Hao combines deliberate caution with a strong appetite for amusement. He hides his talent, strengthens his foundation rather than rushing breakthroughs, and refuses a Secret Realm expedition because enemies might ambush him. Conversely, crowds and spectacles can draw him in so strongly that Qing Yun and Qing Ying must physically restrain him 11 21 88 115.
He is playful, flirtatious, and frequently shameless. He uses palm-reading as an excuse to hold Shui Furong’s hand, teases Lin Qinqin, and openly buys clothing and accessories for his maids despite the embarrassment of his companions. These antics regularly earn him pinches, kicks, or other retaliation 12 45 54 58 74.
His generosity toward allies coexists with extreme ruthlessness toward enemies. He supplies attendants and friends with cultivation resources, protects weaker disciples, and treats Fatty Zhang without looking down on him. Against the Sima Family, however, he personally kills surviving children and participates in repeated searches for hidden survivors 19 20 37 46 68.
Food is one of his strongest interests. He repeatedly attempts to cook despite burning meals and covering himself in soot; much later, Ye Hua praises his cooking. His fondness for collecting spoils is equally persistent: even after winning an enormous wager, he strips defeated opponents of their possessions 35 43 88 109 302.
Abilities & Skills
External Incarnations
Ming Hao uses six exceptionally high-grade Thunder Spirit Fruits, other divine treasures, and the plentiful origin and lightning power in Thunder Prison to refine six external incarnations 77.
- Incarnations share consciousness, thoughts, and soul, while retaining subtle personality differences 78.
- His original body remains in Thunder Prison when an incarnation leaves with his companions 78.
- A later avatar is rebuilt with rare natural treasures and returns at the Tribulation Transcendence Realm 592.
Lightning Arts and Thunder Saint Body
His lightning abilities encompass physical tempering, unarmed attacks, and weapon enhancement 71 83 99.
- Thunderclap Prison-Suppressing Art: A powerful lightning-based body-tempering method obtained when the Great Qin Dynasty destroyed the Thunder God Sect decades earlier 71.
- Thunder Fist: Sends groups of opponents flying during the Brawl Arena battle 83 86.
- Thunder Saint Body: Surrounds him with purple lightning and coats the Burial Life Blade in thunderous power 99.
- Lightning cultivation: Uses Thunder Prison’s lightning to nourish himself and several treasures 68 71.
Ethereal Movement Technique
One of the three methods he selects from the Misty Sect’s Hall of Cultivation Method; its footwork is called Ethereal Steps 32 37.
- Enables rapid pursuit, evasion, and attacks from an opponent’s blind side 37 41.
- Reaches major mastery early in his sect career, leaving most competing disciples unable to keep pace 38.
- Supports dual-sword combat during later tower trials 293.
Ice River World and Palm Techniques
Ming Hao selects the incomplete Ice River World and Tathagata Divine Palm despite warnings about their difficulty. Within seven days, he thoroughly masters all three methods chosen from the hall 32 35.
- Ice River World: Its available portion is classified as sixth grade; the complete method’s grade is unknown. Its stated perfected effect is freezing everything within sight 32.
- Frost Palm: Instantly freezes two opponents during the stipend ambush 37.
- Tathagata Divine Palm: Incapacitates fleeing opponents after he catches them with Ethereal Steps 37.
Body Refining and Close-Quarters Combat
He cultivates the Ninefold Body Refining Art and combines physical durability with fast counters and improvised tactics 20 36 38.
- Can defeat opponents several Nascent Soul levels above him 36 37.
- Uses captured enemies as shields and swinging weapons against surrounding crowds 38 86.
- Endures repeated attacks while learning to counter twelve mirror versions of himself 291.
- Still has finite stamina: his speed and power decline during prolonged fighting, and he collapses after the Brawl Arena victory 86.
Soul Cultivation and Mental Trials
He begins cultivating the Clear-Mind Art, which strengthens the soul, preserves the true heart, and drives away evil 20.
- Studies blade intent at the Comprehension Stele until mental exhaustion forces him to stop 45.
- Clears the Heart Demon Tower in three hours with a perfect score of 100, after a vision in which his companions die around him 289.
- Receives extensive inheritances and expanded meridians and acupoints through the Thunder Prison prisoners’ origin power 77.
Devouring Great Art
The art converts the things it devours into strength, but carries a warning that practitioners may lose reason and become slaughter-driven demonic beasts 20.
- Initially rejects it because of the risk, while wondering whether the Clear-Mind Art could counter its harmful effects 20.
- Later, an identical Ming Hao figure activates it in an unknown space to drain energy from a ring containing a remnant soul 105.
- The supplied passages do not establish that the danger has been eliminated.
Supreme Heartless Scripture
Ming Hao tests this newly cultivated scripture during a tower trial 293.
- Uses the First Form of Forgetting Emotion while wielding two swords formed from the tower’s energy 293.
- His aura divides between cold, heartless detachment and warm approachability 293.
Artifact-Forging Instruction
He teaches Fatty Zhang an exclusive artifact-forging cultivation method that also proves effective in combat 756.
- Fatty Zhang applies it by treating an opponent as a material to be repeatedly hammered into shape 756.
- Ming Hao collects damaged enemy equipment as practice material for him 109.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
Burial Life Blade — His principal dark-red blade, initially peak sixth grade and close to fifth grade. It absorbs blood, inflicts wounds that are exceptionally difficult to heal, and has substantial growth potential 33.
- Measures 164 cm overall: a 36 cm hilt and 128 cm blade. A chain attaches to the hilt, and unknown runes cover its scabbard 33.
- Its savage spirit can disturb the wielder’s mind and cause backlash; more than twenty previous wielders died after cultivation deviation 33.
- Appears to acknowledge Ming Hao after absorbing his blood and healing the wound he made to test it; he subsequently refines it 33 35.
- Reaches perfected fifth grade by his peak Body Integration stage. He declines another upgrade because of the escalating cost 548.
- Later develops the beginnings of an artifact spirit that requires heavenly treasures and fresh blood to grow 729.
Nine-Turn Divine Lotus — Obtained in its budding stage. Nourishes the soul, strengthens spiritual perception, improves comprehension, and can be nurtured in the divine sea; later absorbs Thunder Prison lightning 20 68.
Demon-Suppressing Pagoda — Acquired in a cracked state from Sima Nan Feng’s haul and subsequently nourished with lightning 20 68 71.

Twelve Sets of Armor — Purchased from the Jewelry Pavilion and distributed to his companions in Thunder Prison. Joint activation enhances strength and recovery, shares damage, and permits position-switching, but rapidly consumes spiritual energy 74.
Storage Rings and Sect Token — Hold his accumulated resources and contribution points; used when placing his enormous wager on the Life-and-Death Arena battle 20 95.
Cold Iron Club — Used in a large melee while allied disciples plunder opponents’ points and Storage Rings 653.
6.6-metre spear — Exploits its reach to keep Jin Mingyue, Shishi, and other opponents from approaching within six metres 877.
